Does anyone else think this is a conflict? i mean it's the stp World of Outlaws and their poster boy is sponsored by Stp too. You know this won't be the first time we read about this in 2013 so im going to be the first. It was already kinda fishy how he killed the points after Natioanls when it was announced about the Stp sponsorship.

It wasn't a conflict when Wild Child was sponsored by Pennzoil. Would you be asking this if Danica was the driver of the STP 15? Nope. Schatz is a good driver with great equipment. Those 2 combinations usually win championships.

No big deal. People are only saying that because it's Schatz. Not one person said a Word When Pennzoil was the title sponsor and The Sponsor on The Wild Child's 22.

Jac in the #33 Jack Elden car was sponsored by Pennzoil when they were the title sponsor and I didn't remember any problems or controversies.
I don't think there will be any favoritism shown to Schatz but it will add to the controversy because Schatz is so successful and wins a lot of races. Fans are always looking for an excuse when their guy doesn't win.

I could be wrong, and often I am, but didn't Pennzoil stop sponsoring the Elden#22 when they became the title sponsor of the WoO? They may have sponsored both for a short time but I think Jac and Elden ran with either a different sponsor or unsponsored after Pennzoil went to the WoO.
It doesn't have anything to do with the STP/Schatz deal but there will always be conspiracy theories. The fact is Schatz has kicked butt several years at the end of the schedule. Maybe those tracks are just to his liking? It's great to have STP bringing money and exposure to sprint car racing. As fans we should help support these companies by using their products and let them know why we support them.

I don't see any issues today.
The similarities to the Eldon #22 are striking though.
Haud and Eldon got Pennzoil into the sport and then the Outlaws (under TJ) convinced Pennzoil to sponsor the series.
Pennzoil sponsored both for a couple years and then dropped Haud and Eldon and just went with the WoO. I fear this may go down the same way except the only thing Haud didn't have was an owner that is more popular than the series is.
I hope the Outlaws aren't "poaching" sponsors from the teams, but I've seen this before.....and it's currently still happening as well (NASCAR).

If it wasn't for Schatz, TSR and the success they have had together in the past then the WoO might not have STP as a title sponsor in the first place.

Seriously????? If Dollansky didnt have such a terrible finish to his season I dont think Schatz would of caught him even with his great late season comeback. To say that Schatz won or its fishy he won the title after STP said they were going to be the WoO sponsor is about a stupid statement. Im not a fan of Schatz but the guy is a great driver, you have to respect that.

Who cares? It's not a big deal....besides, I think Schatz was the guitar player for Amy Winehouse! Look at the films, looks just like him to me!!!!!

I purchased STP products years before Schatz was even a thought in someone's mind!
I would hope no forum member, because of a dislike for him, would not purchase STP products. They are a sponsor so I hope all will support them. I know I do my best to purchase products of those who sponsor a sprint car. It doesn't hurt to email these companies and let them know you are purchasing their product because of their involvement in a sport near and dear to you. Just a thought!

I'm studying between the lines of your post to see if I can decipher a conspiracy theory that will rile me up enough to make me give a #@%^%. So far I'm not riled but I can't stop yawning.

Good points Vande.. everyones poaching!! In this case TSR has the drawing power to find a sponsor so it's less of an issue for me. Ask me on the last lap of the nationals and I'll probably have a different opinion.
More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

I'm not sure that the Sprint car deal with STP and TSR even really comes down to sponsoring the Sprint Car specifically anyways, I think it may be a throw in with Tony's bigger sponsorship dollars on the Nascar sponsorships. I'm pretty sure I've heard Tony comment before that they don't get specific sponsors for the sprint cars, that they just throw that in to sweetin the pot so to say when their signing a Nascar Sponsorship. My point is STP likely won't stop sponsoring Tony Stewart regardless, if anything maybe Tony will throw ArmorAll back on the car. Though in the end I don't believe theres any conspiracy theory here either.

On the surface, strikes me as a blatant conflict of interest, but that doesn't mean any favoritism has ocurred or will occur in the future. To suggest that there was something "fishy" with Schatz' championship is ridiculous. He earned it

A couple months ago the editor of Flat Out magazine penned an article about the World of Outlaws and racing in general. He talked about the booing of Donny Schatz and said "when was the last time you saw Donny Schatz race someone dirty or when was the last time you saw him do something classless"? He answered his own question by saying "never". Drivers agree with that statement.
Comparing Schatz's attitude and driving to a couple famous old-timers still racing and winning today, well, there is no comparison. The two that come to mind and should come to everyone's mind are both classless and dirty drivers. Not only have they tried to destroy the WoO twice in the past 20 years, but they think nothing of wrecking other drivers, including their teammate--often on purpose, out of envy, like the guy who started this post---jealousy, pure and simple.
Lawlessness + liberalism = HELL - NYC, Detroit, Chicago,
Seattle, LA Who the H runs those cities.
