The DT-3 was our spec tire for a few seasons in USAC and we always used an 18" wide wheel,if your going to run non-wing I wouldn't go any less than a 17' wide RR.

Can you explain why you wouldn"t want to go less than a 17" wheel? We have some tracks thatare wanting 16" for non wing sprints.

With that particular tire it would roll out pretty big on a 16" wheel versus the 18" wheels we run, they roll out at 103 and a half to 104" on a 18" wheel. But the biggest reason is because the tire has a tendency to crown on a 16" wheel which means you're basically running on only the center of the tire, with wider wheels you increase the footprint off the tire to the ground thus using the entire surface of the tire versus just using the center of the tire.
Depending on the tire you have to use some of them are perfectly fine on a 16" wheel,I mean you can run the DT-3 on a 16" wheel if you have to,but if you have a choice the 17" or 18" are a better choice for the reasons I stated above. Hope this helped you out.
