The Chili Bowl is alive and well, car counts around 250 and all the big name drivers were there. Australia now takes away most of the sprint car drivers that might drive a midget. I do miss the drag racers that used to be entered.

Crowds looked the same, its hard for anyone with a family to get away for the first 3 nights. All the seats around me were taken by Sat night. It feels like Knoxville Nationals where you see many familiar faces.

Nice to see both Bondio cars in the A-main. McCreadie's car was the only new car I saw with downtubes located at cockpit level rather from the top of the cage. I love innovation and few rules.

Some of the most amazing racing of the entire week is found for 6th in the C and B mains. The fighting for those transfer spots was just insane with 3 or 4 cars fighting for the last spot. In most cases who was 6th on the white flag did not end up transferring. Those four races are loaded with talent.

The Swindells vs Larson built all week and the first half of the A main the crowd was on its feet for every pass. Lots of anyone but Swindell fans in the stands, like it is for Shatz at Knoxville.

I am not a Sammy fan, but the guy has the track figured out. And it seemed no matter when I was in the pits you would see him working on the cars or working on the tires.

Kevin rarely makes any mistakes and just one mistake during the week can drop you into a B or C main. Kudos to the guy.

Its only been two days and I miss being in my seat at 5pm, the roar of midgets, the fumes that burn your eyes, the clumps of mud that hit you.

365 days from today it starts all over again... I cannot wait.

I have never been there, but reading your post gives me a sense of what it is like. I know what the "anybody but Schatz" crowd is like at Knoxville. Will make it entertaining in the coming years when someone finally dethrones the Swindells, that is for sure. Stands will be nuts.

I too love the idea of the limited rules/innovation for a special event. Some earlier posts were implying that no one else can afford to build midgets for only one race like the Swindells. Yeah, I am sure Tony's and Kasey's cars were lacking in the budget dept. There is no way Smoke could come up with the cash that Sammy has at his disposal. That is for sure. ?

As far as drag racers, do you mean NHRA or guys dressed as chicks?

I wholeheartedly agree. This was my first Chili Bowl and I only got to go to Friday and Saturday, but I enjoyed every minute of it. I had a smile on my face as soon as I walked into the pits and saw the massive amount of race cars before me. It was a wonderful experience and I hope I can go to more Chili Bowls in the future.
