Unless something changed in the last 4 weeks, the Knoxville Nationals are not sanctioned by teh WoO as of yet...

The Fairboard rejected the WoO proposal for Nationals at their November Board Meeting (Outlaws asked for a specified $$ amount to sanction the Nationals, Fairboard rejected it and said the Outlaws should be paying the Fairboard to be part of the event).

The Fairboard didn't meet again until December 3rd (when they had their election), that'd be a pretty quick turn-around IMO considering it would have went snail-mail to Charlotte....

Ice skating at Lincoln again. Sweet.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Liked the idea of pushing the first I-55 race back until the end of April. Seemed like it got rained out every year the past 5 years or so when it was during the 1st of April! Good move WoO!

I will be at both Las Vegas shows, The Knoxville Nats, both Thunderbowl shows, and all 7 of the NorCal shows. 15 outlaw days next season just added to my schedule.

I could go to Hanford and Parris on the 12th and 13th of April, If I work in L.A. that following week. I will just have to wait to see which weeks I will be working down there.

It is also fitting, the WoO invade Williams Grove in July, to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of The Battle of Gettysburg.

Maybe they're just showing it on their schedule because that's where their drivers will be that week. I believe that other groups do the same thing even though they're not sanctioning the Nationals. There's no sense splitting those short and curly hairs or getting hung up over words. wink

Just west coast swing.I believe Kyle Hirst is driving for Roth Motorsports in the 83JR in the winged sprints. He should be very good in that equipment.Don't want to see any PUSSE I mean POSSE members except Paul McMahon but he's from Cali anyway!

Stan, I appreciate your comment, but I ask you this.

If this were say the NFL and they put the ArenaBowl on their schedule even though the NFL has no official capacity in the AFL, wouldn't you consider that to be less than on the up and up?

That's how I see this. Until the Nationals are OFFICIALLY sanctioned by the WoO, the WoO have no official place there (no officials making rulings, they don't tech the cars, etc.).

By your logic, the PA tracks, the All Stars, the IRA, KWS, MOWA, etc., could all put the Knoxville Nationals on their schedule because "some" of their drivers will be there racing. IMO, that is just plain wrong to do, as you are telling YOUR customers that it is YOUR race, what happens when (or if) it isn't the WoO's race and Knoxville Officials put someone to the tail for jumping a start instead of just back 1 row? The WoO's customer (fan and competitor) is confused becuase the "rules" that they have aren't being used as they are laid out in the rulebook.

IMO, Knoxville should leave the race un-sanctioned, the WoO have done NOTHING over the last 5 years or more that do anything to ENHANCE the event. If they brought something to the table to ENHANCE the event, it might be worth them sanctioning it, but as it stands today that is not the case.

I just hope Dennis Roth lets Tim Kaeding run the entire outlaw tour. The plan (at least it was at the end of the season) was for TK to run with the Outlaws and Hirst run with the KWS.

I'm glad to hear Randy Hannagan will be back on the outlaw tour part-time in 2013.

I just read a few posts up were it says we don't want posse to show up out west. That is not true, thats one person's opinion. I, and most sprint car fans from California would love to have posse drivers come out west with the WoO, or to race with the KWS.

Exactly! It should remain un-sanctioned. If midgets weren't such a fluster cuck the Belleville Midget Nationals would have remained so as well. The people who make decisions about the track are no help either. Stick to your guns Knoxville!

It's sanctioned in name only. Last year, even Johnny Gibson wasn't on the mic, which lessened the quality of the presentation greatly I might add.

It's definitely better for the Outlaws to have the marquee event on their schedule, and may be good for Knoxville in the case of casual fans recognizing the WoO brand and associating it w/ Kinser/Swindell etc...

All in all,, 90 events on the schedule. For years, people complained about the lack of numbers, and now it's back to closer to 2005 levels.

Last year it actually WAS sanctioned - did they bring anything to the table? IMO they didn't, no offense to Johnny, but the Nationals doesn't need his "schtik" on the mic, everyone in attendance is a hard core fan, they don't need (or many actually don't want) the "you wanted the best...." speech before the main on Saturday (although the WoO made sure to pipe it in for their TV broadcast).

I could care less who is and who isn't racing the Nationals. Putting the WoO banner on them doesn't sway "casual" fans to attend, they attend because it's a great format and great racing and a GREAT EVENT (that actually gets airtime on the local TV and radio stations becuase it is an EVENT, they don't even mention when the WoO is in town in April or June).

Just a little humor about the POSSE I would love to see them come out west.We pretty much handed it to the Outlaws last year I don't see why we couldn't do the same to the Posse.

Yes but hours and hours of listening to the drag racing guy try to find a name for the Friday event was really riveting.

And no offense, but you're completely off when you say all the fans on Saturday are "hardcore". I had 2 guys sitting next to me last year who raced IMCA mods at Boone. They knew about 3 drivers, including Kinser, Schatz, and the guy's favorite, "the guy who keeps getting hurt in Ohio" (Saldana).
