Last nights King of the West's 2012 Banquet at Jackson Rancheria was a huge success. Thank you to Gary Thomas, George Hague and Dan Simpson and everyone else who played a big part in putting this together. Lots of terrific give aways to all teams, 2 nights at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, multiple discount certificates for race products, a custom model of their own car, a case of Penzoil in addition to very generous checks.
Thanks to Brent Kaeding and Ashley Smith for organizing and handling a successful live and silent auction to benefit NARC, a benevolent fund for injured drivers and families of the drivers. Close to $20,000 was collected I believe I heard.
At the end of the evening the top 13 who missed no more than 2 races were elegible for more prizes, a chassis complete with body work, being the top prize. Envelopes were drawn beginning with the 13th. place driver up to 1st. including Dennis Roths adorable grandson, Cole, drawing for the Owner Points Champion, Dennis Roth. Drivers were given the opportunity to exchange envelopes with one driver of their choice or hold onto theirs. All but a couple exchanged theirs. Todd Ventura coached Cole to exchange their envelope with Peter Murphy which he happily did. When all was said and done Cole pulled off the greatest exchange as they won the chassis. When Cole was asked if Grandpa should use the chassis and put it together for him to drive he responded with, "well I don't have a helmet yet." Pro Shocks, a Butler seat, Red Devil brakes, Schoenfeld Headers, Vortex top wing, in addition to 7 equally impressive prizes were won by the other 12 drivers.
All in all it was a great night for all the drivers and their crew. Again, thank you to those of you that worked so hard all year long to make our series what it is and the banquet something special.

You got to have the kid put his own paint job on it. It would be awesome if Mr.Roth let him do that.

Also thanks to Sheila Ross for bringing the Walt Ross 56 car to the banquet. Lots of history on hand last night & during the weekend. Just having Brent Kaeding and Leroy Van Connet in the room Saturday was a stats dream in itself for Northern California.
Big thanks to Brent Kaeding, Brian Matherly and Bill Foland for all your support this season and for so many years out here. You guys have been great for KWS and the teams are definitley very thankful for all your generous support.

Jonathan won his first race in NZ at Western Springs Speedway on Nov. 3 and leads the points there. He was second yesterday in a race on the North Island, so he continues to do well down there.
