In America we all know voting is an American right and obligation. It's considered by me to be a privilege, a right by law that is simple to comply with, we all know that we must comply with our citizenship requirements and avoid a felony conviction to be eligible to vote. A task that shouldn’t be difficult to comply with by all American citizens. But our country has changed, tonight’s election results indicate we have become a country that rewards those that wish to become a drain on our resources opposed to recycle or refresh them. I’m 54 years old and have been an owner driver, owner, sponsor, silent partner all while having a blast doing what I enjoyed. Racing. Since my college days, when I voted uneducated for the most part while voting for the most popular candidate, as many of my classmates did. I have remained independent voting for the most qualified candidate (in my opinion) with my guy not always taking the checkered flag. I’ve been a long time peep of this site and anticipate the typical bashers to take advantage of my observations to continue their agenda. But tonight’s results should concern you deeply as Sprint Car and Midget Fans. Please understand and for those of you that might think I’m promoting a political agenda, I’m not. But I will ask you to evaluate what the pendants are calling “swing” states that will determine the outcome our election. Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Iowa among Florida and Wisconsin. All of these states contribute to the survival to Sprint Car and Midget Racing on a national level. This is for your consumption and evaluation in the off season as they have just called President Obama the winner. I ask, how are you going to overcome the obstacles the small business owner (major sponsors of our form of racing) will have to overcome with the agenda they are now facing with this administration. It’s important to understand that most if not all track owners, promoters, car owners, engine builders, chassis builders, local and national speed shops, local tire suppliers, local small business sponsors, local small business sponsors, local small business sponsors, concession suppliers, ect. Will be extremely stressed financially if not put out of business because of this election and Obama care alone regardless of the many other hurtles small business will face. I’d suggest you look past all of the honorable contributors to the sport mentioned above when your local track closes and focus your displeasure towards your involvement in the solution not problem. My recently deceased father offered me the following words upon entering the work force many years ago, “You will encounter two types of people in your career, those that work hard and those that take credit of it. He suggested I associate myself with the first group because they’re would be less competition”. Please feel free to pass this along as you are so compelled. Best regards, Mark Swanson
