Hope they get a better crowd than they do for the rest of the truck races, otherwise it will be a money loser....

I have always thought Nascar should visit at least one dirt track per year and have a points race on it. Why not? They run large tracks, short tracks, intermediate, and road course races. Obviously, it would be a logistical challenge, but it would pay huge dividends. I think TV viewership would be enormous. Your normal Nascar die hards would tune in, many casual fans would tune in just because of the buzz and dirt track fans that normally don't watch nascar would tune in. (whether they would admit to it or not--they would) The key would be throwing out the normal snoozer format nascar uses and go to a qualify, heats, last chance race(s) and A-feature.

This truck race idea may be testing the waters? They need to do something to spice up their product after they ruined the sport with that pile of crap "car of tomorrow".

I like the idea of having Nascar race on dirt. Should help all parties involved especially if it is at a big name track like Eldora. Nascar would get more viewers even if it is a truck race just since it is a different, plus it may help the dirt tracks get exposed to the people who just watch Nascar and have never paid attention to dirt racing.

I wonder if the prelude does well enough that Tony would ever consider doing a another but with Sprint Cars. It is possible that they would have trouble getting Cup drivers to get the go ahead from the owners to strap into sprint cars though. It would probably just be Tony, Kasey, Donny, Steve and Kyle running it.

The 1 thing we may begin to see is with the concussion situation with Dale Jr, owners may become even more leery of letting there driver go out and do things that are high risk and could compromise their cup season. I would hope not but I wouldn't be surprised. Like all other sports already this concussion thing is going to become more of a big deal.

They'd have better luck doing it with midgets on a SMALL track - like a week after the Chili Bowl in Tulsa. Tony could team with Emmett and invite a field of NASCAR drivers - and charge like at least $50/ticket ... NASCAR fans would overflow the place....

I would like to see the trucks run Knoxville on a Saturday night then Newton on Sunday afternoon and make the teams run the same truck and motor at each race.

I think a World of Outlaw non points race would be huge if they included it with the Prelude. Show

the fans who don't normally watch sprints or dirt track racing for that matter what they are missing out

on. And, if a Truck race turns out to be a success at Eldora then its almost guaranteed a success at

Knoxville. That would really be something. However, a very steep purse that most dirt

tracks aren't able to fork out.

Wonder how many of the current crop of truck racers have never seen a dirt track?

I wish I could guarantee you it would be a sellout, have it later in the year to coincide with the Michigan or Chicago Nascar race, and you should get more trucks than you can run,and especially if you run a Saturday night type format,in fact it might have to be run over a two day format with all the t.t. qualifying one night and then have the Saturday format the next night with a 60 lap feature. Also,I think a Wo0 show on the prelude night would spice that up too,but maybe with the schedules being about set it may take a year or two to realize it. Then take the whole show to Knoxville Iowa and run it under the Saturday format there on the last Saturday night in Sept. it might be very big show there too. Do you think it will draw at 50 a seat.?

The Prelude To The Dream doesn't need a support division. aka WoO sprint cars. That week/weekend has and always will be about the late models....

"Standing room only" tickets would be a popular seller amongst the NASCAR fans I would think!

My Dad and I were just talking about this earlier this year, and thought along the same lines as you post. It would be AWESOME. It may also get more people to the dirt tracks that normally wouldn't go.

Bigfish, Do you think they would have to rubber up the track a little bit? Judging by the video you posted, it looks like there as a lot rubber at the bottom of the track to help the cars handle a little bit better. Could be an opportunity to bring in USAC or the Outlaws the night before and make a weekend out of it.
