CITY OF PERRIS HOSTS JULY 14th RACE AND THE PAS HOSTS THE CITY OF PERRIS FANS THE REMAINDER OF JULY!
(JUNE 26, 2007, PERRIS, CA) The City of Perris will host the annual Firecracker Derby and the spectacular Fireworks Show & Sky Concert at Perris Auto Speedway on Wednesday, July 4th. The popular Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, presented by Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply, will supply the racing action that will be highlighted by a 40 lap main event. Fans with a valid id showing that they live in the city of Perris will be able to purchase a general admission ticket on the 4th for just $5.00. And, when they show a valid id showing they live in Perris at the ticket window for any other race on the half-mile clay oval or the Street Legal Drag Strip the rest of the month of July, they will get in for free.
The July 4th program at The PAS is a fan favorite every year and not just for the racing. On the 4th, spectator gates will open two hours early at 3:00 PM. There will be a live band playing for the early arrivals and, as always, the drivers from the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Series will join with kids for a series of games on the front straightaway including water balloon toss, sack race and watermelon & hot dog eating contests.
Also, in what has become a tradition at the popular Riverside County clay oval, the competing cars and drivers will line both sides of the main entrance to greet fans and for a giant autograph session as they enter the track. And, new this year, the drivers meeting will take place under the grandstands and all of the fans will be welcome to attend.
Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian is very happy to be hosting the citizens of Perris in July. "This city is growing like crazy," he said from behind his desk on Monday. "The amount of new homes and all of the new business coming to town is incredible. We want to welcome all of our neighbors and show them a good time in July on the clay oval and on the drag strip on Fridays." The longtime promoter continued, "We also want to thank the city for being the presenting sponsor on July 4th. It is our biggest crowd of the year and a lot of fun for everyone who comes out. It is going to be a great afternoon and night of fun including interaction with the drivers & fans, music, games, racing and fireworks. I am excited now and we are nine days away."
Norco, California star Tony Jones, arguably the most popular driver to ever race at Perris Auto Speedway, won his third Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car main event of the season and second at The PAS last Saturday night before a large crowd. The popular driver hopped out of his car after the win and climbed to the top of the catch fence while the huge crowd roared its approval. Jones, 37, leads the 2007 chase for the championship by 143 point over Temecula, California's Mike Spencer. Jones is the defending July 4th race winner at The PAS.
The July 4th race will be the last at The PAS for the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars until the Annual Skirt Night on August 4th. Over the past two years, Skirt Night has turned into one of the track's biggest promotions. Anyone, male or female, who wears a skirt or dress on August 4th will get in for just $5.00 and they can enjoy $1.00 hot dogs and $2.00 beer.
Once again, July 4th at The PAS will include entertainment starting at 3:00 PM including a live band, autograph session, games for the kids & Lucas Oil USAC/CRA drivers, a drivers meeting open to all fans, the best auto racing on the west coast and a sensational fireworks show & sky concert to close the show. Remember, the gates open two hours earlier than normal at 3:00 PM.
This Friday the red-hot drag racing action at the Street Legal Strip at The PAS will continue. Friday's gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:00.

USAC NATIONAL MIDGET POINT LEADER HEADS FOR JULY 4TH RACE AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY! (JUNE 27, 2007, PERRIS, CA) Fresh off a win in the "King Doodlebug Classic" feature at Iowa's legendary Knoxville Raceway last weekend, USAC National Midget Series point leader Darren Hagen has announced that he will be competing in the Firecracker Derby at Perris Auto Speedway on Wednesday night, July 4th. The City of Perris will host the annual race and fireworks extravaganza that will feature the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars presented by Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply. Wednesday's main event will be 40 laps. Spectator gates will open at 3:00 PM with racing at 7:00.
Hagen, who will turn 21 on Monday, will be headed home for the event. The native of Riverside, California saw his first ever Sprint Car race at Perris Auto Speedway as a youth and has a good history at the track as a driver. A few days shy of his 16th birthday in 2002, Hagen won the California Lightning Sprint Car Nationals at The PAS. The personable star won his first ever USAC National Sprint Car race at The PAS in one of the preliminary nights for the 2005 Budweiser Oval Nationals. That same year he was named Rookie of the Year in both the USAC National Sprint Car and the USAC National Midget Series.
Hagen kicked off the PAS' 2007 season when he won the first Lucas Oil USAC/CRA main event of the year on February 4th. He drove the famous Mark Priestly #7 Sprint Car to that win and will be behind the wheel of the same car on the 4th.
Hagen's season has been outstanding thus far as in addition to leading the USAC National Midget standings; he is second in the National Sprint Car Standings only 25 points Levi Jones of Illinois.
Soon after Hagen finishes his July 4th work at The PAS, he will jet back to the Midwest for a USAC National Midget and Sprint Car doubleheader on the half-mile high banks of Toledo Speedway on Friday night, July 6th.
July 4th at The PAS will include entertainment starting at 3:00 PM including a live band, autograph session, games for the kids & Lucas Oil USAC/CRA drivers, a drivers meeting open to all fans, the best auto racing on the west coast and a sensational fireworks show & sky concert to close the show. Remember, the gates open two hours earlier than normal at 3:00 PM. Citizens of Perris who show a valid id with their address will get in for just $5.00 on the 4th.
This Friday the red-hot drag racing action at the Street Legal Strip at The PAS will continue. Friday's gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:00.

Speed, Excitement and Fireworks on July 4th at Silver Dollar Speedway by Troy Hennig
CHICO, CA (7-1-07) - Wednesday night, July 4th, the best in dirt track racing will help celebrate Independence Day at Silver Dollar Speedway. The family friendly atmosphere will also include post race fireworks. Racing action on the track will take place with the popular 410 winged sprint cars, dirt modifieds and wingless sprints. Following the races a spectacular light show in the summer sky will conclude an action packed night of speed, side-by-side racing and fireworks. As usual, the winner of the 25-lap winged sprint car main event will pay $2,000.
The pit gate will open at 3 p.m. The front grandstand gate will open at 4 p.m. Sprint car qualifying is slated to start at 6:30 p.m.
Adult grandstand price is $14.00; juniors are $10.00 and children 11 and under are free.
Former track champion Tim Kaeding returned to Silver Dollar Speedway this past Friday night. Kaeding electrified the crowd with a last lap pass of Brett Miller to win a heat race. Then in the main event Kaeding charged through the field to finish second, not before giving leader and eventual winner Stephen Allard all he could handle. Kaeding had been traveling the last few years winning races all over the United States racing with the now defunct National Sprint Tour and World of Outlaws. Last year and part of this year Kaeding was driving a second car for 20-time World of Outlaw Champion Steve Kinser. Kinser, known as the King in our sprint car world, could not find a sponsor to keep the team alive. About two months ago the car was parked and Kaeding was left looking for a new team to hang his helmet bag. Kaeding subbed for Brooke Tatnell, who returned home to Australia to be with his sick father. When Tatnell returned Kaeding was once again searching. At that same time car owner Tom Rolfe and his driver Jason Statler were parting ways. Some of Kaeding’s most memorable years in California sat behind the Tom Rolfe Trucking #10. Phone calls were exchanged and a deal was struck to bring Kaeding back to California and drive the Duke and Scott McMillen prepared #10. In their first night together Kaeding drove to a second place finish and Chico and then the following night won the 30-lap main event at Thunderbowl Speedway in Tulare. Reunited and it feels so good…
Brandon Davis continues to lead the wingless sprint point standings. Davis is a rookie in the class but handles himself like a veteran. His 13-point lead over Jay Youngman gives him a little cushion heading into this Wednesday night. One of the proudest interviews I have conducted happened last Friday night when Sparky Howard said he had been racing for 23-years and never won at Chico. His smile in victory lane showed how much love he had for the sport that took him a long time to get that first win at Silver Dollar Speedway.
Chico’s Richard Papenhausen extended his point lead with one of the most exciting finishes in Silver Dollar History. I’m sure Mark Abouzeid feels otherwise about the situation. Abouzeid had led every lap of the main event until coming out of turn four Papenhausen and he got together. The two spun through the front straight and across the finish line, backwards and sideways. Papenhausen was ruled the winner because he slid through the finish line first. Abouzeid was looking for his fourth win in five races. Papenhausen takes his commanding point lead into this Wednesday night. Papenhausen holds an 81-point lead over Darin Ruley.

ALTAMONT MOTORSPORTS PARK - TRACY, CA
July 7 & 8 24 Hours of LeMons--First Return!
Yes, it's back! That popular, fun-loving event that puts the thrill of endurance car racing within the grasp of anyone with a car, some tools and a garage to work in. And, it's back with greater gusto, playful spoofing, more cars, and more following. Car Talk's Click and Clack , the Tappett Brothers, may have told promoter Jay Lamm, "You're Crazy!" when they heard about it last year, but with notable entries like the Car and Driver team, it's an event to be reckoned with, witnessed, and recounted for months to come.
Car enthusiasts, don't miss this fun!
Tickets Grandstand seating: $12 each day--Saturday or Sunday--or $20 for both days.
Schedule Noon Saturday: Qualifying and other on-track antics 2:30 to 9:30 Saturday: Racing 9:00 to 4:00 Sunday: Racing Noon on Sunday: Announcement of the People's Choice and People's Curse cars, followed by the crushing of the "Curse" by a falling Yugo.
Now, just where can you have this much fun for $12?

USAC Open-Wheel Sprints and Midgets To Do Battle at Madera Speedway This Saturday Night
Another chapter in the long and proud tradition of United States Auto Club (USAC) open-wheel racing at the Madera Speedway will be written into the books this Saturday, July 7 when the best Sprint and Midget drivers and teams from across the Western United States return to the central valley in California to once again challenge the “Fastest 1/3 Mile in the West.”
Highlighting this Saturday’s big open-wheel program will be the Sprint Cars in a 50-lap feature, co-sanctioned by USAC and the California Asphalt Sprintcar Association (CASA). The USAC Midgets, California Paved Ford Focus, Northern California Modified Association (NCMA) Sprints and Western Racing Association (WRA) Vintage Midgets and Sprints will also all be racing.
The powerful Sprints run 360 cubic inch, V-8s that are capable of producing an amazing 750 horsepower while the versatile Midgets run 166 cubic inch, four cylinder engines that produce upwards of 350 horsepower. Both are capable of reaching speeds in excess of 130 mph!
The Midgets and Sprints are the breeding ground for several of the current stars in the NASCAR Nextel Cup series such as 2005 champion Tony Stewart and four-time champion Jeff Gordon. Many of the new young guns of NASCAR, such as Kasey Kahne, J. J. Yeley and Ryan Newman, have also cut their teeth in open-wheel racing.
Chico’s Ryan Kaplan is currently atop both the Lucas Oil Western Sprint Car Series and CASA “Best in the West” standings by a narrow margin over JoJo Helberg. They will have plenty of competition in Madera from drivers such as third generation racer and five-time USAC champion Tony Hunt of Lincoln.
Hunt, the three-time defending (2001, ‘04 and ‘06) series champion also won USAC’s 1992 Russell Pro crown and a 2002 Western Regional Sprint Car championship. Only seven drivers in USAC’s 52-year history have more titles including the legendary A.J. Foyt who won an incredible record 13 USAC championships. He is fifth in the current standings, but is only 30 points behind the leader and despite a pair of second place finishes, he is still seeking his first victory in 2007.
Like open-wheel racing, the name Swanson is synonymous with Madera Speedway and 16-year-old Tanner Swanson, of Kingsburg, will not only be one of the favorites in Saturday’s Sprint Car feature, but a huge favorite amongst the fans in the grandstands as well.
Tanner Swanson finished an impressive third in his USAC Sprint car debut at Roseville on May 26 and then topped that performance by becoming the youngest driver to post a USAC Sprint Car feature victory by going wire to wire in only his second Sprint Car start at Altamont Motorsports Park, near Tracy, on June 16.
Despite his instant success, Tanner sits only tenth in the Sprint Car points after he was forced to miss the first two races of the season due to his commitments in the Ford Focus All American Driver Challenge in North Carolina. In Tanner’s absence his older brother Kody, age 19, stepped into the family owned number 17 car and took the checkered flag in both events!
“What they have done has far exceeded anything I ever accomplished,” said their proud father Mike Swanson, a nine-time Madera track champion in four different divisions. “Driving these cars is a tough job. They are hard to handle.”
Like Gordon and Stewart, both Tanner and Kody Swanson hope to use their USAC open-wheel experience as a springboard into NASCAR Nextel Cup.
The July 7 race will mark the 100th appearance of the USAC Midgets at the storied Madera oval. In 99 previous races at Madera, Davey Hamilton leads with nine career wins, while Billy Vukovich III won eight times and Tony Hunt has seven career Midget wins at the 1/3-mile paved oval.
With two victories already this season Johnny Rodriguez, of El Monte, stands atop the USAC Western Midget Series standings in 2007 just ahead of car owner and teammate Matt Mitchell, of Loma Linda. Mitchell has recently sliced the lead to just nine points by taking second in front of Rodriguez at the Bakersfield Speedway on June 23rd and the win at Altamont on June 16.
Defending two-time USAC Western Midget champion Jerome Rodela, of Whittier, will also be among the favorites in the 30-lap Midget feature.
The Northern California Modified Association Sprints will be making their third 2007 appearance at Madera this Saturday. The versatile non-winged Sprints race at multiple tracks throughout Northern California and Nevada on both asphalt and dirt.
The WRA Vintage Midgets and Sprints are some of the actual racecars that were built and raced from the glory days of Midget racing in the 1940’s. These beautiful vintage cars - also known as the “Moving Museum” - average about 60 years in age and are powered by Offenhousers, V-8 Ford 60’s, Mercurys and other exotic engines of yesteryear.
The drivers of these historic cars average 70 plus years old including 84-year-old Walt James, of Acton, driving the 1948 Ford V-8 flat head engine Sprint and 83-year-old Bill Gerrard, of Santa Ana, driving the Crager Wire Wheels Sprint Car. Fans are encouraged to bring their cameras and visit with the drivers in the pits following the races to learn more about this fabulous by-gone era of motorsports.
Racing fans are also encouraged to come out early and enjoy the Quarter Midgets Nationals that will be taking place on the 1/8-mile oval located right next door to the "Fastest 1/3 Mile in the West.”
Saturday’s USAC Open-Wheel Night at Madera Speedway is a rare opportunity to see the racing stars of tomorrow in the afternoon and the open-wheel stars of today and yesterday do battle in the USAC/CASA Sprints, Midgets, Ford Focus and WRA Sprints/Midgets in the evening all for one ticket price. This is one very special event you do not want to miss!
Ticket prices Saturday, July 7 are only $25.00 for adults, $20.00 for seniors 65 years of age or older, $18.00 for students, active duty military and juniors age 13-17, $5.00 for kids age 6-12 and kids 5 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. A family pack ticket (two adults and up to two kids 12 years old and under) is also available for the bargain price of $55.00. Adult fans with a sales receipt from any Save Mart Supermarket store receive a $5 discount at the gate on race days. VISA and MasterCard are welcome at window #3.
The Madera Speedway pit gates will open at 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 7, the grandstands open at 2:00 PM, qualifying begins at 2:30 PM and the first green flag will wave to begin the evening’s racing at approximately 5:00 PM.
The Madera Speedway is located at the Madera County Fairgrounds just off to the west side of Highway 99 at the Cleveland Avenue exit.

BCRA Midgets Gearing Up For Lakeport This Saturday, July 7th -By Robert Haugh
The fabled Bay Cities Racing Association DMS Race Products Midget series will be charging into the 1/4-mile Lakeport Speedway, continuing the pavement portion of the DMS Race Products BCRA Midget schedule this Saturday, July 7th for their annual Independence Day weekend Deake Lyndall Memorial race.
Among the frontrunners will be Lakeport's own “Lakeport Lightning” Eric Mostin, vying for his fourth BCRA Midget feature triumph, hoping to once again delight the hometown crowd. Mostin scored the BCRA Midget triumph last month at Lakeport, as well as claiming two BCRA Midget victories at Lakeport Speedway in 2004.
Other frontrunners include 16-year-old BCRA points leader Justin Grant of Ione piloting the #30 Tim Grant Beast/Esslinger, Reigning two-time BCRA champion John Sarale of Stockton wheeling the Sarale Farms #32 Beast/Riolo Chevy, current third-place pointsman David Prickett of Fresno hoping to capture his First Top 3 finish of the year wheeling the #15 Neverlift Motorsports Hawk/Van Dyne, leading BCRA rookie Kevin Morris chauffeuring father Del's #17k Beast/Esslinger, 7-time BCRA champion “Ageless Wonder” Floyd Alvis in his #18 Champion Automotive Stealth/Van Dyne and a host of other top Midget chauffeurs.
Vying to capture an unprecedented eighth BCRA championship, Alvis currently rests second in the DMS Race Products BCRA Midget series points, 102 markers behind Grant.
Sarale triumphed at the July 4th weekend race at Lakeport in 2006.
Struggling early in the season with mechanical gremlins, BCRA hard-charger Travis Berryhill will be driving his “Spirit of American Canyon” #11 Stealth/Esslinger, hoping to catapult his points ranking.
Aiming at rebounding from a vicious flip two weeks ago in Placerville on dirt, Sacramento's Ralphie “The Racer” Cortez will be manning the wheel of the #31 Shores/Cortez pavement Beast/Sesco-Mopar. Cortez is fourth overall in BCRA points and second in the pavement championship.
Others expected to be competing in the fifth of nine DMS Race Products BCRA Midget series pavement races of 2007 on Saturday include 2002 third-place driver and car owner champion Bill Lindsey of San Carlos chauffeuring the #61 Jim Fowler Beast/Esslinger, Nick Foster, Jr., piloting Rick Faeth's #3 Stealth/Chevy V4, Mike Donaldson in the #87 Stu Donaldson Stealth/Gaerte, and Santa Rosa's Gary Dickenson in his #8 Stealth/Pontiac who is making a run in points after five consecutive Top 10 runs.
The DMS Race Products BCRA Midgets have been competing at the lightning-fast 1/4-mile Lakeport Speedway oval on the 4th of July weekend for several years now as one of their regularly schedules points races.
Late Models, Mini-Stocks, Bombers and Bonus Bombers join the DMS Race Products BCRA Midgets on Saturday for the Annual Deake Lyndall Memorial.

Antioch begins final month of GSC season By Gary Thomas
Antioch, CA - July 4, 2007...With just five races left in the 2007 season, the Golden State Challenge 410 winged sprint car series heads to Antioch Speedway this Saturday night July 7. The final month of action kicks off at one of the tightest bullrings in California, which is also one of the most challenging as the groove normally remains fairly narrow and it makes for close, tight racing all night. Being aggressive is a must, but a little finesse goes a long way since the 1/4 mile is relatively flat and doesn’t offer much banking to help turn the 800 + horsepower sprint cars.
Not surprisingly the driver that has experienced the most success in Antioch this decade has been 12-time King of California and current point leader Brent Kaeding of Campbell. BK has won three times at the Antioch bullring since 2003 and he also captured the GSC stop at the track in April. The veteran driver is still looking for victory #9 on the season, which will give him the most victories ever in a single year with GSC. Could it be this weekend? Considering his record at the track, it’ll be a good possibility. He goes into Saturday holding a 21 point lead in the GSC standings.
One driver looking to keep BK out of victory lane will be his son Tim Kaeding who returned to California competition last weekend. The younger Kaeding hooked up with car owner Tom Rolfe and brought home a second place finish his first night in the car at Chico and backed it up with a victory on Saturday in Tulare. TK is also the Antioch Speedway track record holder with a lap of 11.681, which was set the same season he won a record eight GSC races, a mark his father Brent is trying to break. The fan favorite has spent the last year ½ on the road and has shown to be one of the best drivers in the world of sprint car racing when he’s on his game.
Oroville’s Sean Becker ranks second in the GSC points, but has been rather quiet over the last few weeks. The ‘05 champ did score a second place finish in Quincy a couple weekend’s back, but hasn’t seemed to have the same strength he had earlier in the season. Becker finished second during the GSC event in April at Antioch. The driver known as the "Shark" has the potential to break out at any moment though and should be strong this weekend.
Chico’s Jonathan Allard will look to throw his name in the hat at Antioch this weekend. The defending King of California is expected to be leaving in a couple weeks and definitely wants to win another GSC race before the season is up. Last Saturday in Tulare Allard brought home a second place finish.
Sacramento’s Willie Croft ranks fourth in the series standings and Chico’s Brett Miller ranks fifth. Croft has been this year’s most improved driver and Miller is the leading contender for rookie of the year. Los Gatos driver Jason Statler sits sixth in points, just 12 out of the top five. Ronnie Day of Salinas has had one of toughest years of any driver and ranks seventh in GSC points. Day & the Ridgeline Framing team once again had a top five finish taken away by mechanical gremlins last week in Tulare. Eighth through 10th in the points is made up of Tracy’s Jason Botsford, Gilroy’s Jon Maiwald and Fresno’s Mark Workentine.
Fairmont, IN’s Brandon Wimmer will be in the thick of things if the Roth Motorsports 83jr. makes the drive up to Antioch. Wimmer put on an outstanding drive at the Antioch event in April finishing third after going to the rear early in the race. The 21 year-old charger is set to compete at the Eldora Speedway next weekend in the Kings Royal, before heading back to California to finish out the GSC season in the potent 83jr. machine. Scotts Valley’s Evan Suggs has moved to 11th in the GSC points, but is coming off a hard, grinding crash in Tulare last Saturday, which makes his appearance this weekend a question mark. Discovery Bay’s Jim Skinner is set to make his return to competition in Antioch. The 1999 NARC rookie of the year hasn’t competed since blowing an engine over Memorial Day weekend in Calistoga.
Other drivers expected in Antioch include: "Captain Australia" Trevor Green of Sydney AUS, youngster Alissa Geving of Penngrove, 63 year-old Dan Simpson of Rio Vista and more.
Gates open at 5 pm Saturday with qualifying scheduled for approximately 7. All seating will be general admission and prices will be $16 for adults, $10 for kids 6-12 and $10 for seniors. When the Golden State Challenge Series competes at Antioch Speedway, the stands are packed so plan to arrive early to get the best seats possible. For more info on Antioch Speedway visit http://www.antiochspeedway.com
For point standings, results and more info on the Golden State Challenge Series visit http://www.johnpadjemotorsports.com
Next up: Next Saturday will see the Golden State Challenge Series invade Silver Dollar Speedway for the first of three July visits to the Chico track.
Hanford Cancelled- Note that the upcoming Golden State Challenge Series race at Kings Speedway on July 21 has been cancelled, effective yesterday.

Care Free Pools Night at Silver Dollar Speedway this Friday Night
(Chico, CA 7-06-07)...Nothing sounds better in this Chico heat than a dip into a pool. Thats exactly what you could have if you bought one from Care Free Pools. Bill Bell and his family have been installing pools throughout the North State for many years. A nice refreshing dip into a pool provides some relief in the summer months. During the past two season his grandson Brett Miller has been delivering thrills at the Silver Dollar Speedway. Miller is a former rookie of the year at the speedway and has enjoyed two career feature main event victory's including one this season on April 6. The Miller family plays a huge role in the festivities at the speedway. Bill and his wife Jeanne are seen early and often at the speedway. Brett's mother, Beth, sings the national anthem before every race. All in all, the Miller family and Silver Dollar Speedway pretty much go hand in hand. All of this action will take place during point race number 15 during the Feather Falls Casino series.
Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Adult general admission is $10.00. Juniors and Seniors are $8.00 and children's price is $4.00. The winged 410-sprint cars will qualify at 7:00 pm with racing to follow. Accompany in the sprint cars will be the wingless spec sprints and pure stocks. The winged sprint car main event will pay $2,000 to the winner.
A change has occurred atop the 410-winged sprint car point standings. Even though the last name is the same, it's older brother Stephen's turn to lead the points. Stephen won the 25-lap main event on Wednesday night July 4^th . With the win Stephen passed his younger brother Jonathan as the new point leader. Jonathan led the first two laps of the main event but was black flagged for exceeding the sound decibel limit and finished 18^th . It was Stephen's third win of the year and second in a row. The team is gelling at the right moment. Another driver moving up the ladder is Sean Becker. With the absence of Andy Forsberg, third in points, Becker moved into the third spot by finishing fifth in the main event. Andy Gregg also pass Forsberg and is now fourth in the points.
The wingless spec sprints are also experiencing a change at the top. Grass Valley's Jay Youngman is the new point leader. Youngman finished third in the main event on Wednesday. Point leader Brandon Davis experienced a tough night and finished 17^th . Youngman will now have an unofficial lead of six points when the two resume their point battle this Friday night. Marysville driver Charlie Marrs won his second feature of the year for Joe Hunt Magnetos, the featured title sponsor of the wingless series.
Pure stocks return to action this Friday night. Jeff Olschowka returns as the point leader. He is the defending champion of the series. He leads Mike Slightom into this upcoming race. Heather Bartlett sits in the third spot and is right there to battle the top two. He father Jerry, won the previous main event raced at the speedway.

DATELINE: Hanford, CA 7/4/2007
FIREWORKS EXPECTED AT SCRA SHOW DURING VISIT TO KINGS SPEEDWAY By Dan Fleisher
It’s appropriate to have fireworks during the 4th of July celebration and that’s what’s expected this Saturday at Kings Speedway in Hanford when SCRA resumes action. The “Wingless Warriors” Sprint car group will “fire-up” their 360 c.i. engines and light up the skies with hot and heavy action on the 3/8th dirt facility.
This seasons’ action has been dominated by two veteran drivers, Davey Pombo and Peter Murphy, who between them, have captured six of the eight main events contested. In addition to each winning three, the pair have finished one-two in four of the events. By virtue of their overall dominance, Pombo leads the season point standings with 590, only 28 ahead of Murphy’s 562. While each week becomes more frustrating for other veteran contenders, including last year’s series champion Jonathan Logan, Rusty Carlile, Kiwi Alexander, Richard Harvey Jr., and Daniel Hood, each become more determined to break through and take home the 30-lap main event trophy.
This week will be no different and they’ll join forces with teenage rookies John Niggli (one Heat race victory), Myles Bishop (one Dash and one Heat race victory), Justyne Hamblin (one quick qualifying time and one Heat win), Jace VanderWeerd, Adam Frith-Smith and USAC Midget standout Michael Faccinto, in an attempt to wrestle victory away from Pombo and Murphy.
Sixteen-year-old Faccinto, who teams with Murphy on the potent Tom Tarlton team, has been nothing less than sensational during his three stints with SCRA, including a podium finish on June 2nd.
Also expected to join the bandwagon and overthrow the two leaders will be Jeff Gardner, Matt Day, Brian Schuler, Kevin Barnes, Albert Pombo (Davey’s cousin), John Iturriria, Dave Knott and Jim Riddell.
