Just curious how many of the "regulars" from the N campground aren't going to renew their seasonal lot rental. I have heard there are alot of unhappy campers with the new raised rates & all the stipulated fines that will be imposed.

I think they should give you the spot and do away with all the rules
Wonder how that would work out?
Nothing else is going up why should they raise the rates?
I heard they are going to have Thursday night Mods so we will have a whole new crowd anyway

I'm with you on this vande. Piss and moan all you want but rates go up. Such is life. I wish gas was 98 cents a gallon again too!! I guess once I couldn't fill up the tank for a $20 dollar bill I should of quit driving.

Why are you so called " regulars" on this forum always so negative and nasty? You very, very rarely have anything nice or good to say about anyone's postings. Especially if it is something that you aren't interested in. I posted a legitimate question for the folks who have stayed at that campground for a long time. Obviously you do not stay there or you would understand our concerns. I feel sorry for you that you are such a miserable person that you feel you must always make negative comments to posts that you have no interest in. If it is something you don't care about, ignore it. This site has more nasty negative responses than I have ever seen. It's a shame too. This was an awesome site at one time.

Obviously those with snotty responses don't camp at the north campgrounds and it isn't your issue. We have camped there for over twenty years and made the decision today that we most likely won't be going back. I'm not sure whose brilliant ideas were implemented but it isn't going to do anything to attract people to that campgrounds, I fear. It is quite sad, actually.

The raised rates are the issue, in my opinion. All the new rules are the biggest issue. We received absolutely nothing from the campground management to advise us of the new rules but now hear that there are some and the deadline to commit to our spot is October 2nd with no guarantee that we'll get the spot back that we have had for over 20 years. Having observed fewer campers each year for the last few years, logic would tell me that they should be doing things to keep the ones they have and try to attract new ones. This is not a brilliant marketing approach. UNLESS, the intent is to close the campgrounds and turn it into something else. That is the only thing that makes sense. The campgrounds to the south of the north campground is an excellent facility. Unfortunately, the powers that be made sure that it can't be utilized to its fullest.

I wasn't aware of any trouble. How are they going to generate more money is a significant percentage of the regulars don't go back? Explain please Vanh.

The posters original question wasn't an invitation for jibberish. S/he simply asked those who are regular campers at the north campgrounds whether or not they were going to renew their season rental.

What new rules are they trying to implement? We were thinking about camping there next year - may change our mind and camp elsewhere.

Raised rates = increase in property taxes, insurance, utilities , maintenance ,
lawn care ,garbage service, the list is endless . Any product or service we all pay more for . Just a part of life anymore.

I am curious about the new 'rules' as well. I haven't been up there in 4 or 5 years, but thats where my group always camped out at.
I can understand some folks who have been there for a long time getting fed up with loud all night parties keeping them up if thats not what they're into, but that being said, seems like thats a problem that isn't new and is all around, not just the north campgrounds. Are these 'rules' just for the north campgrounds or all over?
Seems every year the list of stuff holding me back from the 12 hour drive grows longer...

I am not new to camping and woner why the price increase is a problem? Where else can you park a camper for 6 months in the same spot an stay hooked up to electricity that runs your fridge for what you pay at the north campgrounds? Most campgrounds charge $15.00 to $20.00 per night to stay. You are able to stay Friday night, Saturday and most of if not all of Sunday before leaving? So theoretically that is at a minimum of $40.00 per weekend anywhere else? Take that times the number of weekends that you stay at the campgrounds @ a minimum of 24 weekends = $960.00 per year?
I know you don't think you get your moneys worth and I know the conditions are slowly deteriorating as far as the facility. If campers that stay would NOT leave their ac on during the time they are not there maybe the electric bill would not be as high...= more money the fairgrounds has to pay. Yes sewer and water as well as electric costs and property taxes are all going up = more cost to the fairboard. So why shouldn't the campers pay for the increase instaed of a broke fairboard have to borrow more money to make the payments?
I do not know all of the new rules they are going to try and enforce and I do not think that they are intended for everyone, probably a select few that have caused concern in the past. If you keep your area nice you should have no troubles!

Where can these new rules and rates be seen? Was there an announcement? Camped in north campground for last 16 years straight. Only problems I've ever seen or heard about was kids stealing coolers!! As far as the all night party's, if you cannot beat them join em. Or bring ear plugs. Or camp at state park. It's simple. Cannot wait only 290 some days until speedweeks!!

I don't have the rules in front of me but some of the high points are:
No washing vehicles
No watering lawns
No washing campers
-- These 3 are due to high water and sewer bills. Some people don't realize the sewer bill is based off water usage. I'm sure campers will be allowed to be washed once or twice a year but once a week is not.
Remove all decks and loose items at the end of the season.
-- Last year while mowing the mower hit an item that someone had put in the ground which destroyed the mower and the item. Fairboard had to pay to replace.
No outside refridgerators or freezers.
No running the AC while not staying at the camper.
--Should help lower the electric bill. (which is CRAZY)
There was a rule saying something about removing gravel but was not really accurate.
The plan is also to have someone there full-time.
The rule were put in place to hopefully make things better. As with anything common sense goes a long way. I was always told "try to do the right thing. If it doesn't work, change it."
The increase in cost is due to several factors. Increase in utilities, increase in usage, and maintenance and improvements.
The fences on the northwest side of the campground are being replaced right now! Some underground plumbing changes have taken place to allow fairboard to shut off sections of the campground when work needs to be done, rather than the entire campground. Also many of the newer campers require larger circuits to run them (I beleive 50Amps?). The plan is to install more 50 amp service sites.
On top of these improvements there's quite a bit of maintenance to do. Roads need gravel, "Whitehouse" needs repair, etc.
I've heard several people ask for a playground of somesort also. I think it's a great idea and plan on trying to get "something" going.
All in all change sucks and so does paying more but it is happening in everything we ALL do everyday and we hope it is for the better. "If it doesn't work, change it."
It should be a great year at the Knoxville Raceway and North Campgrounds and can't wait to see everyone in 2013!
