TREMENDOUS POINTS BATTLE SHAPING UP AS LIGHTNING SPRINT SERIES HITS THE HOME STRETCH!

(Placentia, CA, September 12, 2012) The California Lightning Sprint Car Series returns to action this Saturday night, September 15th, at the annual Glenn Howard Memorial at Perris Auto Speedway. A little over a month ago, the battle for the series championship
appeared to be over, but with five-point paying races left (including Saturday) in the season, the fight for the crown has heated up into a four driver skirmish between Guy Maresch, Bobby Michnowicz, Steve Limon and Dan Hillberg.

Maresch, a resident of Anaheim Hills, has held the top spot in the standings since mid-May.
However, he saw his point lead, which just a month and a half ago was 82-points, drop to a mere three-point advantage heading into Saturday's race on the famous Riverside County clay oval. Maresch had a bar under the floor pan break causing a throttle problem in the main at the last race in Bakersfield. Bobby Michnowicz, who leads the series with three victories in 2012, is Maresch's closest pursuer. All three of the Lomita driver's wins have come at The PAS.

Third in the point standings is 2011 "Rookie of the Year" Steve Limon of Corona. The
U.S. Army veteran, who spent 4 1/2 years in Iraq, had steadily climbed through the competition all the way to second in the points. Like Maresch's headache, Limon had engine problems at the last race in Bakersfield and dropped to third in points. Limon enters Saturday's affair at The PAS just four-points ahead of the rejuvenated Dan Hillberg of Placentia. Only 35-points currently separate first to fourth in the championship hunt.

Saturday's race at The PAS will be the last at the series home track until the season ending Budweiser Oval Nationals in November. Sandwiched in between this week and then, the CLS will make stops at the Ventura Raceway on September 22nd, Bakersfield Speedway on September 29th and the all new Route 66 Motorplex on October 13th.

The California Lightning Sprint Car Series would like to thank 2012 series sponsors Christian Stover Foundation, Rod End Supply, Sander Engineering, Saldana Race Products, DK Machining and Fabrication, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Hoosier Racing Tires, Circle Track Performance, DJ Safety, Performance by Rosson Racing, Racing Optics, Electro Tech Powder Coating and Oil Twins Amsoil (Hard Charger Award at The PAS).
