Why is it that so many have a problem with the success of a particular driver? I think MOST people on here are racing fans yet there is so much "garbage" thrown at some drivers. Now, I have drivers I respect as I appreciate what they do and I have a few I'm not too fond of but we seem to be getting bombarded with anti "Joe" comments.
Is this jealousy, immaturity or just how "it is" in society today?
Gooooooooooooo(insert your favorite driver here)!
I LEARNED ESP FROM MY MOM

YOU'RE COLD?"

Ummm, is it still OK if I like the Vikings and continue to say "Green Bay Sucks" or isn't that allowed either?
A lot of people blame negative racing talk on the internet but there is nothing worse being said online in 2012 than what I overheard when I was a kid sitting with my dad in the stands in the early 60's. To take it a step further big city sports writers make a living ripping players, teams and franchises on a daily basis. Sprint Car racing is an emotionally charged extremely expensive sport that brings out the best and worst in people. If our skin is so thin that we can't overlook something posted on an internet forum then maybe gentler more politically correct pursuits would be more to our liking.
My opinion differs with a lot of writers on this subject but really when one stops and thinks about it there are a lot more serious challenges to the sport than internet posts. The argument is sometimes made that owners, sponsors and promoters might be scared away by reading these comments. Personally most owners, sponsors and promoters (a) know the nature of internet message boards and take them with a grain of salt and (b) usually don't have time to read the rest of thread after seeing that it's going in the wrong direction.
The outcry should not be about the people posting trash because that's going to happen. The real issue is that post need to be more closely monitored by the moderators. They won't quit posting smack if their posts are deleted, they'll just move onto another board or venue such as Facebook.
That's my take on the deal.

Ya. That's a really great question Leon. Why is that. What IS your problem with Shane Stewart anyway? You seem to wanna run him up the flag pole every chance you get. Is this jealousy? or immaturity? or is it just how it is - being a hypocrite and all like yourself.
The greatest knowledge is to know that you know nothing
at all.

I'm going on record here to say that I like all sprint car drivers just the same...
Which happens to be, very little...
Opinions may vary...

As a person who is guilty as charged, I do have a theory about this. If a no-name driver who does not have any fans and never makes the press makes a bone headed move, it goes unnoticed. If named driver with a ton of fans and is in the press all of the time makes the same bone headed move, it gets all kind of attention. When the fans of said named driver jumps to his defense for any reason, it just makes the anti-fans even dislike the named driver even more. The fans only sees the demples, and the anti-fans only sees the worts.
The internet does make it worse, but I agree with the earlier post that it has gone on forever. I remeber going to the races with my dad in the 70's and watching fans get into fights over their drivers.
BTW......I still hate Sammy.
