FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas - September 5, 2012 - Just three events remain on the 2012 race schedule for the Bob Howard PDC and Mopar National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products southern sport modified division and coming up this Saturday and Sunday night, two of those events will be run. At the conclusion of both of these events, we all should have a clear picture on who will be legitimate title contenders heading into the final night of racing action just one week later.
It all kicks off this Saturday night, September 8th as the tour makes their third and final appearance of the season at 81 Speedway in Park City. From there it is on to the Garfield County Fairgrounds and Enid Speedway in Enid, Oklahoma for the tracks Sunday night event.
Heading into this huge weekend for the southern sport modified tour, Travis Johnson of Enid is your current point leader and holds a slim 35 point advantage over former two-time and defending series champion Chad McNamara of Pond Creek. 2010 point champion Todd Decker of Edmond sits third in the point standings, just 55 points out of the lead.
C&P Racing Supply rookie of the year contenders Caleb Edwards and Joe Adams, who sit fourth and fifth respectively in the standings, also have a shot at claiming the championship as both are at least 200 points out of the lead.
Tour regulars expected to compete at both of these events include: Ross McCartney, Bobby McGehee, J.D. Choate, Chris Lyons, Cleo Adams, Landon Maddox, Courtney McCartney, Kevin Snow and Mark Harrison.
Other drivers expected at one or both races are Milt David, Logan Macy, Darin Busch, Craig Ridgway, Dustin McNamara, Bobby Fiest, Jim Strome, Andrew Wallace and Randy and Ryan Bohnstedt.
At twenty-five drivers are expected for both shows and, as mentioned, there will be just one event remaining after this weekend's double header of racing action. This will take place on Saturday night, September 15th, at the Salina High Banks Speedway in Salina, Oklahoma.
In the previous two events held at the 81 Speedway this year, Johnson and Joe Adams have claimed victories. This race will be the seventh event held at the track since the tours inception back in 2009. Winners include Johnson (2), Smith (2), Adams and Jeff Autry.
