Speaking of Kid’s Month, a pair of hot racing 14 year-old drivers have been the focus of many at the track this year. Christian Stover from El Cajon, California and Tommy “Thunder” Malcolm of Corona, California have been impressive in the Lightning Sprint and the Street Stocks this year. Stover won the main event when the Lightning Sprint Cars last appeared at the track on June 2nd. Malcolm, who is the step son of Late Model star Dino Napier and the brother of Late Model racer Johnny “Lightning” Malcolm, has only been on the track three or four times. However, he has been very smooth and shows a great deal of track knowledge. His beat finish came on May 5th when he crossed the line in 6th.
Riverside’s Jim Coates heads into Saturday’s race as the new point leader in the Street Stock class. The likeable veteran took the point lead with a third place finish two weeks ago.
The Super Stocks return to action for the first time since May 19th. Defending series champion Mark Shackelford of Riverside, California holds a slender 3-point lead over his Carpinteria, California teammate Ed Perry going into Saturday’s race. Apple Valley, California’s Randy Thornell will bring a huge 55-point lead over Corona, California driver Johnny Lathrop when the PASSCAR Modifieds take to the track on Saturday night. Hemet, California driver Kevin Busher is third in the standings. Joe Haresky, of Phelan, California, won his first PAS main event in the Modifieds two weeks ago.
Saturday’s festival of fendered fisticuffs and speed will include heat races and 20 lap main events for every class. B main events will be contested if applicable.
In addition to Saturday's race on the half-mile clay oval, there will be drag racing on Friday at the popular Street Legal Strip at The PAS where you can race your own car for just $30.00. Gates at the will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:00 at the Drag Strip.

Press Release, Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway
For Immediate Release Thunderbowl Raceway hosts GSC sprints for final time in ‘07 By Gary Thomas
Tulare, CA - June 26, 2007... The question most people will ask when the Golden State Challenge Series invades Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway this Saturday night June 30 will be, "Can anybody stop Brent Kaeding?" Not only is the 12-time King of California sitting atop the GSC points, he has also been dominant at the Thunderbowl this year winning all three of the series’ stops at the track so far this season. The man simply known as BK will headline a field of nearly 25-30 410 winged sprint cars as the Golden State Challenge Series makes its final start of the season at the 1/3 mile clay oval located at the Tulare County Fairgrounds.
BK is also on the verge of history as his eight wins with the Golden State Challenge Series this year ties the most ever won in a single season with the series. He will be looking for win #9 on Saturday and will also be looking to keep his Thunderbowl GSC win streak going. Dating back to last season, the driver of the Al’s Roofing Supply No. 69 has won the last five events the series has held at the Thunderbowl. He’ll face some stiff competition, however, and it won’t come easy for the man from Campbell.
The biggest challenger to BK on Saturday will quite possibly be San Jose’s Tim Kaeding, who will be making his third Thunderbowl Raceway start of the season. TK began the season driving for Steve Kinser Racing and picked up a big win with the World of Outlaws at the Thunderbowl in February, but lack of funds forced the car to be parked. The 28 year-old charger also had a brief stint in the Volcano Joe’s Coffee No. 2, subbing for Brooke Tatnell, but has now returned to California and will be behind the wheel of the Tom Rolfe Trucking No. 10. TK has had an immense amount of success in his career at the Thunderbowl and in addition to his WOO win this season, he captured the Trophy Cup last year at the track and also won the National Sprint Tour stop in October.
Another heavy weight on Saturday will be Fairmont, Indiana’s Brandon Wimmer. The talented 21 year-old teamed up with Dennis Roth to run the Dirt Cup a couple weeks back and he promptly went out and won the race. Wimmer has won five races on the west coast this season and has shown that he’s one most fearless drivers in the country with his on the hammer driving style.
The driver that currently ranks second in the Golden State Challenge Series points is Oroville’s Sean Becker and he’ll be looking for his first ever Thunderbowl win on Saturday. Becker goes into this weekend 19 points behind B. Kaeding for the lead and is coming off a strong second place finish with the series last Saturday night in Quincy aboard the Fisher-Main Motorsports No. 35m.
Defending King of California Jonathan Allard of Chico sits third in the GSC point standings. Allard has the second most wins in the series with three, and leads the club with four fast time efforts in the Williams Motorsports 0. Fourth in the points and coming off his first win of the season is Sacramento’s Willie Croft who drives the Holey Smokes BBQ No. 29. Last Saturday in Quincy saw Croft lead all 30 laps en route to his second career GSC win. Rounding out the top five in the series standings is the Care Free Pools No. 1x of 17 year-old Brett Miller from Chico, who is the leading contender for Rookie of the Year.
San Jose’s Jason Statler sits sixth in points and will be making his return this weekend after missing the last couple races. "The Big Guy" will be sitting aboard the familiar 00 machine that he’s driven in season’s past. Salinas driver Ronnie Day is also expected to make his return after missing the last couple races. Day is still looking for his first win of the season. Other drivers in the top 10 of the Golden State Challenge Series points set to be in Tulare this weekend include Gilroy’s Jon Maiwald, Tracy’s Jason Botsford and Fresno’s Mark Workentine.
Scotts Valley’s Evan Suggs will be making his first start with the Golden State Challenge Series since winning his very first winged sprint car main event at the Dirt Cup in Washington during prelim night competition.
Australian Trevor Green will be looking to get rid of the engine problems that have plagued his team recently. The two-time and defending track champion at the Parramatta City Raceway in Sydney, Aus has been seemingly fighting mechanical issues ever since he arrived in the Golden State. Green did score third place at the Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford on June 11, which has been his best finish in nine series starts.
The Central, CA contingent looking to steal the glory will include: Visalia’s Ricci Faria, Tipton’s Mike & Danny Faria Jr, Fresno’s Craig Stidham & Tommy Tarlton and Carruther’s Garret Ishii.
A large field of dirt modifieds are expected on Saturday as this will be their final chance to run the Thunderbowl prior to the huge $20,000 to win U.S. Western Modified Nationals on September 27, 28 & 29. The Western States Modifieds will also be crowning their first ever champion on Saturday, and that driver will receive a free entry to the Nationals. All the info on the Western States Modifieds can be found at http://www.westernracer.com
The front gate at the Thunderbowl Raceway will open at 5 pm this Saturday with Reserved Grandstand tickets costing $18 and General Admission bleacher tickets costing $15. To purchase tickets call 559-688-0909. First race is scheduled for approximately 7pm. Riebe's Auto Part Night at the Races this Friday Night by Troy Hennig
CHICO, CA (6-25-07) - One of the best fan oriented nights will happen this Friday, June 29, at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. For the third year in a row Riebe's Auto Parts will host a night at the races. The speedway will have four divisions racing around the quarter-mile clay oval speedway. Lots of great stuff will be offered to the fans courtesy of David Larabee and the entire Riebe's family of employees. The first 250 fans through the front grandstand gate will receive a free NASCAR hat. Prizes that the store will raffle off throughout the night include Maui Jim sun glasses, a tailgate barbecue and miscellaneous Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. merchandise. One of the bigger prizes will include a four pack of tickets for the upcoming July 4th race at the Speedway. The Riebe's staff that will be on hand will through packs of Jelly Belly's into the grandstands for the crowd to catch. This night is usually one of the funnest nights for the racing crowd. David Larabee, a racer at heart, who has been driving at the Silver Dollar Speedway for over 14 years sums up the event. “We wanted people to have fun and win some cool stuff while enjoying the races,” said Larabee.
Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Adult general admission is $10.00. Juniors and Seniors are $8.00 and children's price is $4.00. The winged 410-sprint cars will qualify at 7:00 pm with racing to follow. Accompany in the sprint cars will be the wingless spec sprints, dirt modifieds and pure stocks. There is a $100 bonus money for the winners of the wingless and dirt modified main event. The 410-winged sprint car main event winner will pocket $2,000.
The Allard brothers sit atop the 410- sprint point standings. Jonathan leads his brother by 15-points. Stephen is currently second, however, it is common knowledge in the sprint car community that Jonathan's team will be leaving in July to go back to the mid west and race against the World of Outlaws. This in turn means, whoever is behind Jonathan will inherit the point lead. Chasing Stephen in Auburn's Andy Forsberg. The defending track champion is looking to rebound after two recent disappointing finishes in the main event. Forsberg is just nine points behind Stephen Allard. Oroville's Sean Becker jumped two spots in the point standings after last Friday night. Becker now sits fourth. Jason Statler, even though he missed last Friday night, still sits in the fifth spot of points.
The wingless sprint car point battle is very intense. Only five points separate the top three. Rookie driver Brandon Davis leads Jay Youngman by one point. Sitting right behind them is Matt Streeter five points behind Davis. Streeter has two main event wins while Davis has one. Youngman is still searching for that first win. Taylor Simas won a popular 20-lap main event last Friday night. The win jumped him up one spot into the 12th position in points. Billy Wallace leads Cody Myers by just one point for the fourth position. Both of these drivers are nearly 50 points out of the lead.
Chico's Mark Abouzeid has won three of the last four main events this year at Chico. Last Friday night he won Mike Sohnrey to the finish line. Sohnrey is the only driver to break into victory lane in between Abouzeid's three wins. Richard Papenhausen still has a stranglehold over the rest of the division. He leads Darin Ruley by over 80 points.
Jeff Olschowka leads the pure stock division by twelve points over Mike Slightom. Both Olschowka and Slightom are six for six when it comes to finishing in the top ten of main events this season at Chico. Heather Bartlett sits in the third spot. Jeremy Stone and Jay Galvin round out the top five.
Riebe's Auto Parts features good parts, good people and great prices. Local Riebe's Auto Parts stores are located in Chico at 175 East 20th St. and 982 East Ave. In Paradise the store is located at 5990 Clark Rd and in Oroville at 2950 Myers Street.

PRESS RELEASE, PLACERVILLE SPEEDWAY, PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA FROM THE OFFICE OF JOHN PADJEN MOTORPORTS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, MONDAY, JUNE 24, 2007 El Dorado County New Car Dealer’s Championship Series returns to Placerville Saturday New clay added to track surface; Rough driving to be addressed in stock divisions By Bill Sullivan PLACERVILLE,CA – This Saturday night the 2007 El Dorado County New Car Dealer Association, Hoosier Racing Tires, Coors Light championship racing season continues at Placerville Speedway with the seventh event of the racing season. Pacific Sprints, Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks will resume their championship campaigns. The three regulars will be joined by the Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Cars for the first time this season. Saturday night will mark the first time the multi division will compete on the El Dorado County Fairground in three weeks following the county fair break and a special event last Saturday night. As the second half of the season begins, competitors will surely enjoy an improved track surface as several tons of new material was added immediately following last Saturday’s Civil War event. More than 20 truck loads of fresh clay was delivered early in the week to Placerville Speedway. The new material will replace the race worn track surface, improving traction and increasing the banking of the quarter-mile oval to its original level. Additionally the new material will retain moisture and assist with dust control in the hot summer months to come. Heading into Saturday’ event, Greg DeCaires of Elk Grove leads the point standings in the winged sprint car division. DeCaires and car owner John Taylor set their sights on the Civil War campaign in 2007 and originally planned to race a limited schedule in the weekly series. However, following five top five finishes and a recent feature victory the team now sits in the point lead in defense of their 2006 track championship. Placerville’s Jimmy Trulli, who won the Civil War event last weekend, is just 10-points behind DeCaires and sits tied for the bridesmaid position with previous point leader C.J. Humphreys of Placerville. Local favorite Scott Russell of Placerville is in the fourth position, 29-points from the lead. James Sweeney of Placerville rounds out the top five, 34-points from the lead. In the Pro Stock division Dan Brown Jr. of Nevada City continues to lead the point standings. Brown has won five feature events this season and sits ahead of former two time track champion Mike Moran of Rancho Cordova. Marek Bernert of Fair Oaks ranks third, 2-points behind Moran. Dennis Ahart of Cameron Park is fourth in the standings, 39-points from the lead while veteran Dennis Armstrong of Eldorado rounds out the top five. Entering the second half of the season, John Padjen Motorsports hopes to see a consistent improvement in the overall car count in the Pro Stock division. Overall this season 18 different drivers have competed here. However only seven of those drivers has entered all six events so far in the year and ten drivers overall have entered at least five events. While the division produces on the edge of your seat door to door action each week, consistent car counts are required to warrant the future of the class in years to come. One driver that is expected to return following extensive returns will be defending division champion Jon Tilford of Folsom. Tilford will be back behind the wheel of his #97 until the fourth of July when his older brother Tom Tilford, the 2006 Pure Stock champion, is expected to take the wheel for the remainder of the year. Following several weeks of ongoing mishaps the Pure Stock division will likely be given stern warning this Saturday night during the pre-race driver’s meeting in regards to aggressive and rough driving and the penalties that could follow such as suspensions and disqualifications if such actions continue. Look for point leader Matt Tilford of Folsom to maintain his point lead in this division that looked much like a destruction derby during the sixth point race. Tilford currently leads the division by seven points over fellow two-time winner Jason Englund of Citrus Heights. Brian Stevens of Pollock Pines is third, 20-points out of the lead. Mike McClure of Nevada City is in fourth followed by Joe Olshowka of Marysville As the Hunt Magneto Wingless Sprints make their second season appearance here Saturday the John Padjen Motorsports series that shares points from both Placerville and Silver Dollar Speedway has Brandon Davis of Rohnert Park in the point lead over Jay Youngman. Matt Streeter is third in the point standings. Former Placerville champion Billy Wallace is fourth overall while Cody Myers rounds out the top five. Placerville Speedway will open at 5:00 on Saturday with warm ups starting at 5:30 followed by Zam Fencing/Direct Traffic Control sponsored qualifying at 6:30 and heat races to follow. For additional information on this event contact the track business office at 916-969-7484 or log on to www.johnpadjenmotorsports.com.

SUPER LATE MODELS, TRAIN RACE AND WOMEN’S DEMOLITION DERBY HIGHLIGHT SATURDAY’S PIPE TRADES NIGHT AT IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY
A unique evening of racing is scheduled this Saturday (June 30) at Irwindale Speedway during Southern California Pipe Trades HVAC Night. The schedule includes races in the ACDelco Super Late Model, BG Products Pure Stocks and Justice Brothers Mini Stocks divisions as well as a Train race and a women only Demolition Derby.
Rookie Travis Thirkettle of Newhall has been a model of consistency during the season’s first nine ACDelco Super Late Model division races having finished in the top-five in six races, good enough to lead the division with 398 points. However, Thirkettle’s comfortable lead has diminished as a result of Rip Michels impressive six-race consecutive win streak. Michels of San Fernando is the Speedway’s all-time race winner and notched a milestone 50th victory in his last race on June 16, pulling him within 16 points of Thirkettle.
Norwalk’s Ron Davis maintains a ten point lead over Jeff Elder of Redlands in the BG Products Pure Stock division points battle. Elder narrowed the gap with a victory in the last race on June 2.
Defending Justice Brothers Mini Stock champion Tyler Rogers of Riverside leads the division points battle thanks to three victories and a runner-up finish in his first six races. Kevin Bernhardt (Fontana) scored a win in his last division race on June 9, moving him within 22 points of Rogers.
Fans attending the event will also be entertained by a women only Demolition Derby and a Train race featuring teams of three cars connected together competing on the Speedway’s Figure 8 course. The front car includes a driver responsible for controlling the throttle and steering, the middle car is neutral while the driver in the rear car controls the brakes. Any car breaking loose will cause the team to be disqualified.
NEXT EVENT: Wednesday, July 4th Irwindale Speedway will host the NASCAR Grand National West Series King Taco 200 and Auto Club Late Model Firecracker 100 races followed by a spectacular Independence Day fireworks show. It will also be Family Night with kids 12 years of age and under admitted for free.
Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. for both events. The King Taco fan appreciation autograph session will take place on the track with the drivers, crew members and race cars at 5:45 p.m. The first race will start at 7 p.m.

Madera Speedway Media Release- June 27, 2007
HotWood Tri-Holiday Series Twin 100 Lap Late Model Features & Fireworks at Madera Speedway
After going dark last weekend for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway, the "Fastest 1/3 mile in the West" will roar back to life this Saturday, June 30 with round #2 of the HotWood Tri-Holiday Series.
This special program will feature the SRL Wild West Shootout Late Models and the NASCAR Whelen Racing Series Western Late Models, American Limited Stock Cars, Toyota Sedans and the always exciting Hornets. Plus a huge fireworks display will light up the evening sky in an early 4th of July celebration before the night's final event.
This Saturday's 100-lap race will be the third of ten events on the SRL Wild West Shootout schedule. Other 2007 stops for the western region touring series include Shasta Raceway, Colorado National, Las Vegas Bullring and Altamont Motorsports Park.
Former NASCAR Winston Pacific Coast Regional Champion Dave Byrd, of Pacific Grove, picked up a hard earned victory over Fremont's Troy Ermish when the SRL Wild West Shootout rode into Madera for round #1 of the HotWood Tri-Holiday Series back on May 26. Salida's Jeff Belletto leads both Byrd and his older brother Steve Belletto, of Modesto, by a narrow 93 to 91 margin in the latest SRL points standings.
Summer may be only a few days old but the action in the Western Late Model division has been hotter than July since the beginning of the season at the Madera Speedway. The action should get even more furious as the drivers and teams of the Western Late Model division scramble to get position within the top 20 in points during the "Race to the Chase" in order to qualify for "Chase for the Championship" that will take place over the final six races at Madera Speedway.
With a $2,000 purse going to the winner of this Saturday's Western Late Model 100-lap feature, the car count is expected to swell well beyond the solid 18 car average during the first six races this season.
Mark Holeman, age 21 of Los Gatos, is currently leading the Western division by a 340 to 286 point margin over third generation driver Ross Strmiska, of Stockton while Joey Stearns, also of Stockton, sits in third just 15 points in back of Strmiska.
Holeman, a junior majoring in engineering at Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo, celebrated the end of finals two weeks ago by posting his fourth win in eight starts this season in a wild 50-lap race that saw multiple lead changes and several accidents.
Stockton's Donny Darter sits atop the American Limited Stock Car standings, Stan Hankins leads the way in the Toyota Sedans and Fresno's Miles Humphreys is creating a lot of buzz thanks to his early season domination of the Hornet division.
If you are a fan of the late model stocks and fireworks - and who isn't? - than you don't want to miss for round #2 of the HotWood Tri-Holiday Series. So come out early this Saturday, June 30, to make sure you get your favorite spot in the grandstands as the short track thunder continues at Madera Speedway.
The pit gates will open at 9:00 PM on Saturday June 30, the grandstands open at 2:00 PM, qualifying begins at 3:30 PM and the first green flag will wave to begin the evening's racing at approximately 5:00 PM.
Ticket prices this Saturday are only $25.00 for adults, $20.00 for seniors 65 years of age or older, $18.00 for students, active duty military and juniors age 13-17, $5.00 for kids age 6-12 and kids 5 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. A family pack ticket (two adults and up to two kids 12 years old and under) is also available for the bargain price of $55.00. Adult fans with a sales receipt from any Save Mart Supermarket store receive a $5 discount at the gate on race days.
The Madera Speedway is located at the Madera County Fairgrounds just off to the west side of Highway 99 at the West Cleveland Avenue exit.
