I've said it before and I will say it again. The GF1 chassis has got to go!! And maybe even Barry Jackson. 3 features, 60 laps and he couldn't even pass his shadow. This car very rarely moves forward anymore, mostly backwards. It is really painful to watch Fred run this way. Maybe Fred is the one who has to make a change.

People win in every brand of car and with the hundreds of overlaping adjustments does the brand really matter? Isn't the Grove just two connected drag strips anyway? If you can't pass you need more motor. Imo. He gave up on J&J- Donnie is fast in one. Gave up on maxum- really? Now you think its the gf1? Have you looked one of those gf1s over?

Just for the sake of curiosity, how often have you actually seen Rahmer race this year? This sounds like speculation about a guy you never see race, IMO.

Rahmer has two wins in 70 starts overall this year (one of which was a WoO win), and both those wins came at the Grove. He does not have a single win anywhere all season other than Williams Grove. Rahmer's problems may be chassis related or may just be the fact that he is getting old and has had some major crashes and injuries in recent years. But your argument makes no sense at all, given those numbers. Rahmer has been slow all season -- even in his visits to a notorious big horsepower place like Lincoln (no wins in 15 starts there this season). LOL. Guys don't win because of horsepower at Lincoln, and Rahmer has not been fast there, either, at a place where has 166 career wins in the 410 class.

Yet he still was overall Pa. Speedweek champ (without any wins) Disappointing at Knoxville, to say the least.

Holy cow, give the man a break,he is running in the toughest circuit in the nation, and just about everyone of those top 24starters every show are just as fast and have as good a stuff as Fred does.Yes,I have have watched him alot this year due to a friend of mine saying how Fred hits on other cars, not as much as his car gets hit,I watch him a lot and he is fast many, many, times and so is everyone else. I think in the East the sprints have just about evened out and its the wrenches with the little tweaks here and there thats separating them. How many hoods have you seen off the cars at the track, very few,its all being done with tires, shocks, gear, bars, and just hitting on it,you don't see big radical changes on cars too much anymore its the fine tuning of everything thats winning and driver ability. Some people say look at how Fred runs compared to Steve Smith, shucks,Fred has to beat 23 cars Steve is the class of the field with his stuff in Ohio and he has about four or five hot runners to race with then he is home free and its still tough for both of them.It has a name I think its known as parity.

Big Rahmer fan here. Ever since Fred has been in the 51 he has been sub-par with few wins each year, and yes some wins have been big wins. Do I think it's Fred......HELL NO. IMO!!!The 51 is junk and Fred needs to land a new ride.

I'm glad you agree SLINK51. Kauffman has been my number one guy for 35 years except for when the drove for Weikert and Fred has been number 2 for me. Don't know if they are getting a big cut on the cost of the GF1's or what but the results speak for themselves. I definitely not a fan or XXX or even the Maxims, but hell at this point anything is better than the GF1's. Many others are winning with J&J's Mach 1's etc. Look at what Heimbach has done this year on a very limited schedule with the addition of Rahmers old crew chief!!! I agree I think it is going to have to Fred making the change. Can't think he is that happy running the way he is. It definitely not the driver!!

It pains me to see Fred run this bad each year. Hell when the 51 was the 69 Mike Carber drove same thing. The car was either on or off, but mostly off. The first year I thought ok maybe the team needs some time to gel. The second year came he looked better, and had a few more wins but still not the Fred I know. Year 3 till now has been really bad. They can time well but when it come to heats and features the car falls backwards or stays pretty much where he starts.

My buddy and I were just talking about this last night at the grove. We were talking about how Dewease and Rahmer have really dropped off the charts this year. I have a feeling its kind of old age. Im not saying they dont have what it takes to win anymore, just a lot of the younger guys have just as much talent as they do. Never been a huge Rahmer fan, but it will be sad whenever he stops racing.

Sorry. I was wrong. I still say brand of chassis is about 9th on the (must have to be fast list)

Agree with most of the posts although Blaney does well with same chassis/engine combo. Jackson just hasn't seemed to get it going. IMO Fred hasn't been the same since the crash in Canada last year that sidelined him for awhile.

Dewease has been off all year until he rolled into Knoxville and was a top 5 car all weekend.

I have been a big Fast Freddy Fan for years. It pains me to see him have such a poor season. He was wicked fast until he got hurt up in Canada last year while leading an All Star race and hasn't really been the same since. I wish I knew the answer why, but I don't think it is the GF1 chassis, the Kistler engine, the VRP shocks or Barry Jackson as the crew chief. Sadly, maybe father time is finally catching up to him or maybe he just doesnt have the same competitive fire anymore. I hope I am wrong.

Speaking of GF1 chassis, Rick Lafferty won tonight's feature at Williams Grove driving, you guessed it,in a GF1 CHASSIS.

It's the frame that makes the 51 not able to pass other cars.

Great for Rick, really nice racer!! If memory serves me correctly, I believe his chassis is an older JEI. I know, GF1 is the newer version.

Haven't been around this stuff long enough to see why so many people are anti-Freddy, but some some reason I find myself pulling for "the guy everybody loves to hate". Maybe it was seeing some people cheer when he hit the wall at Port Royal last summer. That pissed me off. DeWease? I would think breaking your neck might slow a guy down, but he's still been the best Posse driver at Knoxville last 2 years

Wish I could have seen Freddy beat the Outlaws from last row back in 2009. Got the DVD but the photographer doesn't follow him till he's in striking distance...

A top 5 car who finished 8th? Was it the driver then? Ha

Wing, I thought the same thing, as Rick uses a different style hood than a normal JEI or GF1. I had an opportunity to see Rick's car up close after they brought the top 5 cars behind the grandstands at Bridgeport Speedway earlier this summer and I specifically looked at his frame and it was a new GF1 chassis with an older body style. on it
