I was reading the posts on here awhile back about a poster, then others, who were upset that the Sprint Car & Midget magazine kept coming in damaged to them. I had the same problems with the same mag, but I didnt chime in on the issue. I just read messages with interest knowing I had a similar problem.
I got my newest issue of SC&M magazine today. Sure enough, as with 50-60% of this particular magazine, it came in with the back cover torn and badly damaged. My Flat Out magazine NEVER comes in with a problem. Thus Im convinced that my mail man, who wouldn't know a sprint car if I drove it to his house, hates SC&M magazine

I was a loyal subscriber (for probably 50 plus years) to the now defunct "National Speed Sport News."
I was lucky to get the paper within 10 days of its publication date. I was even luckier if it didn't show up looking as though it had been put through a shredder.
Before I would subscribe to any publication today, I'd have to verify that it was mailed in a plastic wrapper!
Based on the above, is there any wonder why the U.S. Postal Service is losing money hand over fist?

Funny how some things we enjoy receiving can be nearly trashed yet, VISA, MASTERCARD, ELECTRIC BILLS, CAR PAAYMENTS, etc., all arrive unscathed!

I received my newest issue yesterday, and it was completely unscathed. Probably the best looking magazine I've ever gotten in the mail.

I received mine yesterday also, and as normal, it was perfect. However, as I was taking it out of the mailbox, the label with my name and address on it fell off.

Just some info for all of you. I used to work for the PO. I also live in Knoxville and I talked to the gentleman in the S C & M booth at the Nationals. He was a very informed man, told me which month the magazines were sorted in a certain facility and which months they had been sorted in another facility because of distribution issues. He was well aware of the problems and it really isn't their fault. I have subscribed since its inception and have had no problems at all. Complaining on here is not going to solve your problem at all. Here is what I suggest. Go to USPS.com and get in touch with someone from customer service either via email or phone. They will set up a monitoring program for you and your issues. They will pull it and monitor it for a few months for you, noting the condition, when you received it, etc., and try to work with you in solving your complaint. I worked for them, and, yes, I think they are pretty much out of touch with reality and what constitutes a legitimate business operation but they are concerned greatly with customer complaints and will act on them. Give it a try.
My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

HEH! Mine did that too! It was like they didn't peel the label off to stick it onto the cover.

Only problem with this issue is that some of the pages weren't cut properly. Almost as if the process wasn't completed to the binding.

My post shouldnt be taken as complaining as I was just echoing my experiences with the issue that was previously brought to attention. More than anything, I was merely expressing how strange it is that the one brand of magazine is the one that keeps having the problems where the other never does. Just seems to be an oddity to me.

Rereading the original post, it sure appeared to be a complaint. No matter, I have given you all a solution to try. I can do no more.

I dont take the magazine you refer to but over the years I have expeienced the same issue.
Usually the problem was in manufacture/bulk shipping and not at the post office.
If you call the magazine they probably will send you one in good condition.

I order some back issues of National Speed Sport News several years back. They sent one 3 times and I never got one and I just gave up.
Where I live, even the First Class mail sucks. Last winter I had 2 gift cards that never came the first time.
Now if somebody says they're going to send me something, I tell them to e-mail me the day they mail it..
I tried to apply for work there, but I guess I wasn't sullen and arrogant enough. The last town I lived in the PO was run by an asshole. I'm surprised he never got shot by the CUSTOMERS.

I'm at 6,000 feet up in the Ponderosa pines in the middle of Arizona and my issue arrived today in perfect shape; and it most often gets here in good shape.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

as a rule, my sc&m arrive with the covers trashed( this way for awhile) Once they leave the publishers, its out their hands. I just rip the covers off and enjoy a great magizine.
