NCRA Late Model Season Comes to a Close This Sunday!
Point Battle Comes Down to the Wire
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – August 28, 2012 - The 29TH season for the "gladiators" of the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products late model division will come to an end this coming Sunday night as the tour makes their annual Labor Day visit to the Belleville High Banks in Belleville, Kansas.
In his rookie season, former modified standout Tommy Weder, Jr. of Woodward, Oklahoma is the current point leader and will come into the night with a 125 point lead over season long point leader Gary Gorby of Caney, Kansas. Weder, who has one feature victory on the season, will look to obtain his first ever late model championship. However Gorby, a veteran campaigner with the tour, is no stranger to the High Banks and will have a slight edge as this will be Weder's first ever appearance atop the big half mile.
Making his first stint on the tour and sitting third in the point standings is Gretna, Nebraska's Dan Battaglia. Former two-time series champion Kyle Berck (Marquette, Nebraska), who has two feature victories on the season, is fourth in the point standings while another rookie, Chase Junghans of Omaha, Nebraska, current rounds out the top five.
The late model tour will be just one of three sanctioned by the NCRA that will be in competition this Sunday night. Gates open at 5:00 pm with racing set for a 7:00 pm start time. Reserved seats are $25 while general admission seating is just $20.
The Belleville High Banks is located 2.0 miles north of US 36 on US 81, then 0.4 mile southeast on M St. to 7th St., then 0.1 mile east (near the water tower, at the North Central Kansas Fairgrounds).
