I thought the Nationals were great all the way through again. Friday night was great, as i anticipated. The only problem I encountered was that I once again had a woman behind me screaming in my ear to "SIT DOWN SO I CAN SEE!!!". This was during the parade lap of the A-main and everyone in front of me and to my left in the next section (i was on an isle seat) was standing. She continued to scream for us to sit down and actually grabbed one of the guys in my group by the shoulder, like a teacher reprimanding a student, and told him to sit down. This is perhaps the most annoying thing I have experienced year after year and it doesn't seem to sink in to people's heads.
1. We should be standing during the parade lap. That is what it is for. "stand up and salute the drivers" is usually the words from the PA system during the parade lap.
2. Once the race started, everyone sat down in front of us and did not stand again until the final 5 or 6 laps as the excitement built for the ending. I have no problem with this.
3. My group has never stood up during any part of the race UNLESS, our view has been blocked by multiple rows of people in front or to the left of us. This is out of courtesy as it really doesn't matter to me if I have to stand or not. We do a pretty good job of sitting down even when we feel like standing up when something exciting does happen.
I yelled at this same woman before for the same thing. Haven't seen her in a few years now. I told her last time she could get seats in the front row and not have to worry about this problem, or she could get off her lazy ass and stand up during the parade laps. If she doesnt wish to do these two things, then sit and miss it. I give a crap anymore. And please no comments about this being a Nascar fan problem only. I have been to all forms of sporting events and people stand up during exciting moments in all of them. I saw plenty of sober fans, drunk fans, young fans, and old fans stand up. Like I said, I sit for courtesy only. If I have to stand up to see, I will. I am not going to be that ass that yells at everyone in front of me. I am not getting paid for crowd control. If you can't stand up during the parade lap and the last 5 laps, watch it on tape delay.

totally agree
Only time we had to stand in section H was during the parade lap, the opening lap and then again with 5 or so to go.
I've had more issues at weekly races than I ever have at the Nationals (seems like we always get a group from the track in Newton one or two weekends a year that think standing during the feature is MANDATORY (even when it's a snoozer race). But I don't complain about it to them, it's still 100% more exciting than what they normally watch on pavement

I think that along with the no smoking in the grandstands, they should also announce that you paid for the seat. Use it, If you want to stand, go down on the concourse.. (during the racing)

The parade lap is just a given, they even tell you to stand up. I guess I don't see the need for standing up during the last 5 laps. I obviously understand the reason everybody does, but the excitement is just as good when you are sitting. I don't pity the lady you are talking about as she more than likely was just being lazy. The only ones I worry about are the old timers or people with mobility problems that cant stand up quickly. They are the reasons that I try to remain seated during the entire race (or even just kind of hunch down a little when everyone does stand).
I suppose its just natural to shoot up and watch at the end of the race as the tension builds. I remained seating for about a lap, watching between gaps of people... but stood up once I realized nobody was planning on sitting back down.

Standing at a Sprint race is my biggest pet peeve. It never happens during a weekly show at Williams Grove.Yes they tell you to stand up for the Parade lap. It's when the parade lap is over a lot of times they remain standing. This only happens when The Outlaws or a NASCAR crowd ie.When Kasey Kahne Or Tony Stewart is at the track. It never happens during a weekly show at Williams Grove.

Yeah, I am in total agreement with you. We sat down as the cars took the green flag and so did 99% of the people around us. At the end of the race, I waited about 1 or 2 laps just like you looking between people. And like you, once I realized no one was going to sit back down, I stood up. Didn't make me mad to do so, just trying to be courteous to everyone behind me. That is why I thought it was totally uncalled for to get my ass chewed for standing. I would never do that to anyone intentionally. I did however pay to see the race and there reaches a point where you have to see it. The thing that pisses me off more than anything: this woman and her husband leave every time 1/2 way through the A main. ? If you don't care about seeing the race, why are you so mad about missing the parade lap? Everyone sat through the 1st 45 laps.
