I find it kind of odd Knoxville Raceway hasn't had anything to say thus far concerning this situation.

When I called the track office, the lady in the office said the track was well aware of the situation, from other long time ticket holders in the area that complained, but also by this thread. Toby wasn't in the day I called, but the track office lady said they were looking at a solution of some sort. She also said during the phone call that the track didn't know the names of the offenders due to them buying their tickets by 'Express Checkout' on saturday ..well, that has since changed since this thread developed with their names. I would think sooner or later Knoxville Raceway would chime in.

Yes it's time for the PR person to earn their pay! & for security to step up. I also wanted to mention, some of you seem to be confused, people were complaining about the Knoxville police being overzealous with the ticket writing. Bit of a different situation than drunk, vomiting, belligerent, hard liquor in the glass bottle possessing white trash ruining neighboring fans night.

I still don't think that the Raceway needs to address this PUBLICLY. Creating a public stir or issueing a Press Release would not be beneficial for the track (hate to let you in on this, but Hoseheads Message Board does not have the "reach" to more than 5% of the fans in the stands @ Knoxville for the Nationals).
Addressing this publicly would not rectify the situation, it would only cause more people to chime in their $.02 worth.
This is better handled directly with the family IMO.
Knoxville can "Ban" the drunk group in question, however it's virtually impossible to enforce as they can have someone else buy the tickets in their name instead, buy from scalpers, or buy at the window the day of the race. Unless they caused another stink when they show up the next time, hardly anyone would be able to say 100% for sure that "the guys sitting beside me are the ones you banned from the raceway", because to be honest, I can think of 15 people I know that could be mistaken for them at any time (bald, goatee, ~ 170 lbs and 5' 10" . Are they supposed to have the cops stop everyone that matches that description as they walk through the gate and get their name off of their driver's license??
GET A GRIP PEOPLE, put yourself in those guys' shoes (or the families shoes), do you want more and more publicity (and for that matter, put yourself in the Raceway's shoes, do you want to create even MORE publicity for something bad that happened? I know if it was my BUSINESS, I SURE WOULDN"T WANT TO PUT OUT A PRESS RELEASE FOR EVEN MORE PEOPLE TO SEE AND READ ABOUT SOMETHING NEGATIVE THAT HAPPENED. Positive things, sure, I'd want that out there, but negative, He## no I'm not adding more ammunition to that.

Agree--I am satisfied knowing that Knoxville Raceway is aware of this situation and plans to react. (to this situation) I don't need to know the details.

People have complained for YEARS that the sherriff's department was overzealous as well (writing tickets to UNDERAGE drinkers (which is illegal by the way) following the races at the turn 4 party under the grandstands), as they would "hassle" someone that was obviously drunk, or stopping them at the gate and making them dump out their beer before they crossed Highway 14 to go to their car, Dingus, or a T-shirt of food vendor stand.
I have sat by many belligerent people over the years (and Knoxville, BY FAR AND AWAY, is the most tame big event I have EVER attended). Take those guys to Eldora and they're not even in the top 10% of obnoxious drunks. Take them to Daytona, they're probably not in the top 25%.
It was an isolated incident IMO, 99.9% of the fans @ Knoxville are well behaved.
The cops (and the minimum wage security staff) have a TOUGH job during Nationals (they have to put up with ALL of us, whether we are Drunk, just A$$holes period, Families with small children, jerks, etc., etc,,
Not a job I would want...

I think you hit it on the head...isolated incident. And wouldn't stop me from coming to an event I love, even if I did get barfed on. I'm sure Knoxville will view this an an opportunity to improve communications with in security and how to handle any future incidents.

Knoxville wont do anything. They will probably just let it disappear with time. At the very most they will give this family tickets. I just hope they dont have some crazy knee jerk reaction and screw up the nationals because of some drunken fire fighter!

Isn't that exactly what we're talking about? Someone's nationals experience getting screwed up? To put it bluntly, I have no sympathy for people that can't 'handle their shit'. If not being able to puke on the people around you, fight them, & sneak in a shitty bottle of liquor screws up you experience, then you don't belong at a sprint car race. Moreso a punk show or low grade wrestling event.

I disagree with your first paragraph a little. Going public no...BUT it sounds like they have lost many 1 timer family vacation do to situation like this. Maybe some kind of letter or something to old addresses of former guests. (Yes Guests)
Your 4th paragraph I agree with totally. It is like banning the "streaking' guy from a Major league game. 60,000 people filling in to those games...How do you enforce a lifetime ban?
But ignore a situation and you end up at WWII

I bet if a few drunks got taken out on a regular basis with a cop holding onto their arm things might just get better REAL QUICK! I wouldnt mind camping when I go, but the drunks and the party`s I have heard about at the camp sites turns that into a not a option. You cant smoke in the stands but its OK to be puckin drunk.

You can't smoke because of a STATE LAW, Knoxville Raceway didn't pass the law, the moronic state legistlators did.
For the record, I am not a smoker. I never had an issue with people smoking around me in the stands prior to the enactment of the law by the legislature. Most of the smokers would get up, go down and smoke even when you could smoke in the grandstands.
Drunks will ALWAYS be a problem as the ones that are wayy over the limit aren't the ones that are purchasing it, their buddies are going down and getting it for them. Having more staff or a sheriff at the beer stand will do NOTHING to curb excessive drinking. I know groups where only the DD goes down to the beerstand and buys for the entire group. Having a cop there to police people who've been "overserved" will do nothing to fix these situations.

Parties @the campground ? Yea there are still people partying @ the campgrounds .( myself n my clown friends included ) But it isnt any thing like it was 20 yrs ago. There was some crazy $hit going on back then. Hell that could be a post on its own. Whats the craziest thing u ever seen @ the nationals. Campground or other. Speaking of a$$holes in the stands(wich is where this started ) anybody in the backstretch see the a$$hole pop the beachball n throw it over the back?

I highly doubt Knoxville Raceway will respond on a god damn message board. However, I am almost
certain they will respond to this over their website at some point. Got to understand alot of ppl enjoy
sitting in certain seats each and every year and its not easy to tell a loyal customer they are being
moved for a family section. I am positive Toby and his crew are looking into this but don't want to
make any drastic decisions.

To be clear, I wasn't expecting a message on this particular board, just a general press release. Also, I'm not really a fan or critic of family sections. I just think every section should be 'drunken violent puking dipshit - free zone'

Agreeing with 77 on..... HOLY CRAP BALLS!!! That new caged in smoking area was a death trap! They took the once 1990's pay phone and pass out area and turned it into " come in here if you want get addicted to nicotine. Every time I went down the elevator to go 'yuckie' I was amazed by the haze of smoke in the air. The crowd was so thick, trying to smoke, it reminded me of an old grandstand 'Lawn chair Bus or Train trip'!!! This is me NOT JOKING!
Really security needs to be set in place. Old fossils like Grant and many others hiring the local school old and recent school teachers to be security is not "Security". The BITCH curlying short lady by the elevator for the last 12 years was my old Asst librarian who would kid us off the computers for, " That news is Porn!" As I was reading an article on how Britney Spears won an award....granted, she sucks.
RANT OVER! *edit point be told I grew up with these so called security. Back when we were 31 rows tall and I was 12.

Beach balls are annoying, especially when bouncing around during racing action. Have also made me spill my beverage more than once. Point him out next year to me and I will buy him a beer.
