BOBBY MICHNOWICZ EYES THIRD STRAIGHT PERRIS LIGHTNING WIN!

(Placentia, CA, July 23, 2012) Bobby Michnowicz, a longtime open wheel racer from Lomita, California, is looking to continue his hot form and win his third straight California Lightning Sprint Car main event on Saturday night, July 28th, at Perris Auto Speedway. Joining the CLS on the triple header program will be the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and the PAS
Senior Sprints. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM and the first race will be at 7:00.

After a disastrous start to the 2012 campaign, Michnowicz has rebounded nicely and has outdistanced the field to win last two races in the series, which have both been staged on the famous Riverside County clay oval. The change in fortune has seen the 1994 CRA Sprint Car champion claw his way to third in the championship standings and he is only 10-points behind Placentia veteran Dan Hillberg. Thus far in 2012, Michnowicz and his teenage son, Kevin, have won four of the first seven CLS main events.

Guy Maresch, a 55-year-old veteran from Anaheim Hills, continued his consistent driving with a fifth place finish at the last race on July 4th and extended his lead in the standings to 64-points over Hillberg. Known as "Zoom Guy" to his fellow competitors, Maresch is seeking his first ever CLS championship.

As stated above, Michnowicz has closed to within 8-points of Hillberg in the season long standings, but if either looks over their shoulder, they will find out they have company. 2011 CLS Rookie of the Year Steve Limon of Corona is a mere 8-points behind Michnowicz and 18 in back of Hillberg.
Dale Gamer, a veteran from Anaheim, rounds out the fop five and he is
51-points out of second.

San Diego's Damon Arnett is the top rated rookie thus far in 2012 and he comes into Saturday ranked an impressive seventh in the overall point standings.

The California Lightning Sprint Car Series would like to thank 2012 series sponsors Christian Stover Foundation, Rod End Supply, Sander Engineering, Saldana Race Products, DK Machining and Fabrication, Keizer
