$2000 to win Hutch Nationals Await NCRA Modifieds!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – July 10, 2012 - Current series point leader Tyler Davis leads the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products modified division on to the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas this coming Friday and Saturday night for the 56th annual Hutchinson Grand Nationals.
Davis is the tours defending champion and already has one victory on the 2012 race season, this coming in Humboldt, Kansas back earlier this season. He holds a slim fifteen point lead over Marc Hurd, who is a former two-time Hutchinson Grand Nationals feature winner and looks to become the first three-peat in the modified division since the Nationals were NCRA sanctioned on the modifieds back in 1998.
Don Hodge currently sits third in the point standings, followed by Jim Johnson and Josh Lanterman.
Sitting sixth through tenth in the point standings heading into this weekend are A.J. Brochu, Dan Powers, Brian Franz, Mickey Lassiter and Dustin Belcher. Lassiter holds a slim six point advantage over Belcher in the tours rookie of the year standings.
Other regulars on the tour expected to compete include Jon Thompson, Kirby Robe, Kirk Coleman, Justin Moler, Robbie Simmons, Jason McGehee among others.
Thus far on the 2012 race season, thirteen drivers have competed in all five events that have been held while four drivers have only missed one event. Over thirty drivers are expected.
Former five-time series champion Franz finally got the monkey off his back and picked up his first ever Hutchinson Grand Nationals championship last year and comes into the weekend as the defending Nationals champion.
It all kicks off on Friday night with modified drivers competing in two separate heat races. Points will be tabulated from those heat races with the consolation and championship features being lined up according to those points. Saturday nights championship feature winner will receive $2000.
The Kansas State Fairgrounds is located off of West of SR 61 on 17th Ave., then north on Poplar. Pit area check-in opens at 3pm, grandstand opens: 5pm; Hot Laps: 6pm; Race Time: 7pm. Grandstand general admission is $15.00 Age 11 & up, $5.00 Children 6-10. Hot laps begin at 6 pm with race time starting at 7:00 pm.
