As the atoz promotional team is putting their minds to sleep, and a lot of you are out chasing races, we are looking for ideas of where to put on a sprint car show next year? We would probably be targeting an ASCS/JSTS/UMSS race or an IRA show. Curious where should these guys be running that they currently aren't, or where they should return to.

I've got so many Sprint Car races 40 minutes from home that I can't afford the gas to go to them all. That's a good problem to have, didn't used to be like that ten years ago.

I'd like to see non-wing sprint cars at all of the following Minnesota tracks:
Arlington, Bemidji, Clinton, Glyndon, Barnum, Chateau, Fairmont, Montevideo, Grand Rapids, Hibbing, Fergus Falls, Willmar, Madison, Slayton, Worthington, Proctor, Redwood Falls & Alexandria..
I other words, most anywhere I haven't already seen them run!

If they are still there next year, neutral territoy for all is Steele County, a one time show might work.. For a small racey track that gives three wide racing, I really learned to like watching the racing at Dodge County this year, but I may be a little biased there.. lol
Of course Chateau has really made great strides in track conditions and the facilities...
Not too sure that I can agree with ya though Steiny,,, UMSS Traditional Sprints at Fairmont might be just a little early in their learning curve to throw that track at them.

I would agree with Brian that there are a number of those tracks that the non wing boys might want to stay away from until the series gets a little more experience. Not that they couldn't perform well there, but would hate to see them wreck 3-4 cars and have the series be in trouble.
Steiny, give me a rundown on the following tracks as I haven't been to them:
Bemidji
Clinton
Barnum
Grand Rapids
Wilmar

I can't imagine running wide open down the straight at Alex with probably 529 gears in and hoping there is a burm at the top of the corner to keep me from becoming a rolling, flipping, mess that the safety crew has to scoop out. These cars don't stop sliding in the corners very well unless it is tacky or there is a burm to lean on. I'd like to give it a try sometime though  These things are so much fun if you can drive them hard like we have at SCVR the last couple nights there. Most fun I ever had in the superstock was practice night at Alex a few years ago for the fall classic with the track tacky and flat footing it all the way around.

Bemidji - high banked 1/4 mile
Clinton - high banked 3/8 mile
Barnum - slightly banked 1/4 mile
Grand Rapids - semi-banked 3/8 mile
Wilmar - semi-banked 3/8 mile
Neither Fairmont or Alex should be any problem - as long as you pitch it in at the Flag Stand!
Oh, and I didn't specify which non-wing series...love to see USAC come back to Minisoda!

Wuld be cool to see 410s back at Fairmont. IRA could be a good fit. Friday at Fairmont Sat at Jackson and Sunday at Husets!!

if you havent been to glyndon for a while you wont believe it!now called the Buffalo River Race Park it has new lighting new concession area[air conditioned]indoor seating area[also air conditioned]they run a very successful show sunday nights with 5 classes-starts at 6pm and most nights done by 9:30 pm!This track has been in operation since 1953!Sprints havent been there for about 5 years but the track has a rich sprint car history.hope they try to get there again.

My vote for a sprint car show in MN would be I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls.

Clinton Mn? Would be inreesting but last time i was back and looked at th track it was awful rocky! Unless your talking about my private track east of town which is 1/4 flat track but loon shit gumbo as Rager put it. The fairground track looks to be bigger than 3/8 but nice banking for sure!

any sort of 410 IRA/Knoxville/MOWA challenge on a Friday night, or that open Saturday after the Nationals, in a somewhat central location - Dubuque, Cresco, Farley, even Deer Creek maybe?

The IRA to me is the best representation of "Class act sprint car show!" Any heat race or feature will give you the best of even competition from first to last with drivers respecting each other wheel to wheel.! Deer Creek is a great fast track! And still to this day the best open wheel race i have ever seen was the indoor midget deal at the sandbox at Cedar. First heat, cover them with a blanket, wheel to wheel!� Legends abounded and amazed but the damn fumes were just too much by the end! Oh and PS the IRA is the best run show with their own Safety Team and the whole behind the scenes infrastructure that should be themodel for any sanctioning body! Hats off to Steve and the crew!

I agree that the IRA show will be interesting at Fairmont, however that is a long tow for those drivers. They didn't bring that many this year to Jackson, and I don't think Fairmont would be much better.
If there was a USAC show, would any of the HRA or TUMSS drivers be willing to support it? I think it pays $500 to start, but it would be really difficult to put on a good show without those guys.

I doubt that a UMSS traditional sprint would have a chance of being anything other than a hazard with these guys. Are the USAC non wingers 410 or 360s? Even at 360 we would be over 200 HP underpowered. I don't have any idea what the HRA wingless cars produce for power. Would be interested to know though in case we ever get the chance for a challenge race or something like that in the future with them.

USAC National Sprint Cars are 410's and have approximately twice the hp of a TSCS engine, while a top ASCS 360 has close to a 300 hp advantage.
Track condition (dry slick) can be the great equalizer. JP3 qualified ahead of a number of excellent 410's for the Ultimate Challenge at Oskaloosa with a so-so 360.
