World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Ready for Canada Challenge

Shawn Miller, GRANBY, Quebec – July 6, 2012 – As the summer heats up, the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will split the famed ‘Month of Money’ with its first trip of the season to Canada.

The Outlaws will compete at two tracks for the first time during a four-race stretch between July 27-31. The Canadian visit kicks off Friday, July 27, at Autodrome Granby – a semi-banked, half-mile oval.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Joey Saldana said. “It’s always a pretty cool event up in Canada. Hopefully we can get a good turnout and we can put a good show on.”

The series remains in Quebec on Saturday, July 28, for its third career race at Autodrome Drummond – a high-banked, 4/10-mile oval in Drummondville. Jason Meyers won last year’s event and Steve Kinser claimed the inaugural race in 2010.

“It’s probably one of the most exciting races we have all year,” Lucas Wolfe said. “You wouldn’t believe the amount of people that come to it. It’s definitely a great event, so it’s always good to go back there.”

The Canadian journey heads to Ontario on Sunday, July 29, where Cornwall Motor Speedway in Cornwall hosts its first-ever World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series race.

“A new venture is always challenging because none of us have had the chance to see it so we’re kind of all in the same playing field,” Chad Kemenah said. “Hopefully we go up there and put a good show on.”

Following a day off, Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario, will wrap up the tour and the month on July 31. Jason Sides has won three of the previous six Outlaws events at the high-banked, 3/8-mile oval. NASCAR star Tony Stewart picked up his first career World of Outlaws feature win last year, and Donny Schatz and Meyers have also been victorious at the track.
