Tulsa Oklahoma (July 3,
2012) – The
time to celebrate our glorious nation is once again upon us and this Friday
night, Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee Oklahoma will hold a thrilling holiday celebration
by combining the thunder of the Oil Capital Racing Series sprint cars with a
fireworks show sponsored by the Castle of Muskogee and York Street Tires for
everyone to enjoy.
This will be the second stop by
OCRS at the famed ½ mile track in 2012 in the chase for the “Goodyear Tire
& Rubber OCRS Championship.” Former champion and current OCRS points leader
Jamie Passmore of Rose Oklahoma, was the victor in the first go around at
Thunderbird during the second annual “Callie’s Night” program back in May. It
was the third win for Passmore who since has gone on to win another three
features since that night. The driver of the GAP Roofing / Wesmar Racing
Engines / Eagle took over the point lead then over Sapulpa’s Danny Smith who
stills retains the runner-up spot going into this Friday nights action. That special
May night also saw the return to OCRS action by teenage starlet Harli White,
who has been very impressive in her OCRS events to date. Miss White has been
giving the boys quite a difficult time as she continues to improve her skills
and overall performance. Girls,
sprint cars and fireworks, what a line up!

Mike Peters Returns For More OCRS Action
Mike Peters returns to OCRS
action this Friday night/ Phil

Wichita Kansas legend Mike Peters
will be at Thunderbird Friday night to take on the OCRS warriors. In his first 2012
OCRS event at Oklahoma Sports Park, Peters came out swinging as he earned a
runner-up spot in his own #51 sprinter. Peters first gained notoriety in
northeastern Oklahoma in the mid 70’s in supermodifieds and also as the
wheelman in the famous Court Grandstaff Trop Artic 66 sprint car. Peters
thrives for the power and speed of an open wheel sprint car. Peters will
partner up with Larry Allen of Larry Allen Competition Engines for T-Bird.
Back Row Challenge now at $1400!
The Oil Medics,
a Ft. Worth Texas based lubrication company has their “Back Row Challenge”
offer now at $1400 for the pole position driver that accepts the challenge to
start the A Feature at the rear of the field and wins from the scratch spot. In
addition, Action Auto Collision of Tulsa is also adding $200 to the driver that
attempts the challenge. Combined with the winners purse for the feature, a
successful challenge can now net the winning driver $2600 this week!
/ PM-PRO
Rookie Of the Year Contender
Thunderbird fans will get to
witness another youngster who can stand on the gas in Broken Arrow’s Alex
Sewell. This talented speedster is leading the 2012 OCRS Brodix / PM-PRO Rookie
of the Year honors and earned his best OCRS showing last week at the Southern
Oklahoma Speedway with a runner-up finish to Passmore. Rookies, as with most
any other racing series, are typically not expected to win feature races. They
need to bide their time, hone their skills and pay their dues before such a
reward comes their way. As for Mr. Sewell, you would find very few people
amongst the OCRS faithful that would be surprised if he were to take a visit to
victory lane in 2012.With his
talent and solid equipment as provided by father Andy and Rob Forehand, it could
happen.
Keep a watchful eye on the
Action Auto Collision / Sewell Mechanical / BT Powdercoat sprinter.

Kids Can See Sprint Cars Up Close & On Track
A popular segment as of recent
events is having the kids see the OCRS cars and drivers up close and in person.
This will take place at the conclusion of the OCRS “Pole Dash” event. Once the
“Pole Dash” race is completed, the six cars that qualify to race in the dash
will stop on the front straight-a-way. The youngsters will be allowed on the
track for a few minuets to see the cars and meet the drivers. It is encouraged
to bring your favorite electronic device for picture and/or video recording.
