ROUND EIGHT FOR SCRA SPRINT CARS
By Dan Fleisher

SCRA’s 360 wingless Sprint cars will open round eight of the 2007 season when they appear at Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA this Saturday night. Of the previous seven events, only three drivers have visited the winner’s circle, Ryan Kaplan (2), Davey Pombo (3) and Peter Murphy (2). The burning question of the week is, “Will there be a fourth driver to capture the 30-lap feature”?

Pombo and Murphy will attempt to thwart everyone else from accomplishing the feat but their task will be tough against stalwart veterans Kiwi Alexander, Jonathan Logan, Rusty Carlile, Jeff Gardner, Richard Harvey, and the up-and-coming band of teenagers John Niggli, Justyne Hamblin and Michael Faccinto, who finished a strong third when SCRA last appeared at Kings on June 2nd. Others expected to be on-hand include Kevin Barnes, Andy Ferris, Matt Day, Brian Schuler, Adam Frith-Smith, John Iturriria and Jace VanderWeerd.

Pombo currently leads the point standings (514) over Murphy (492) while Carlile trails with (404). A total of 80 points are available to any driver who records fast qualifying time, and wins both his/her heat and the feature.

The club’s next appearance will be on July 7, once again at Kings.

But you forget one of the most talented young drivers competing in the SCRA, who would be Myles Bishop. In his first time ever in the car, right after buying the car from Harvey Sr., The car rolled in the trailer with a main-event win. So you people keep pumping these other young drivers but this kid is one of the most talented young drivers i have seen these days. I mean last weekend the first time at Ventura had to start in the rear of the main and finished 12th out of 22 cars. And running same lap times as leaders.

Have A Nice Day
