I was just wondering about the new format for Friday night. Will all competitors who are not locked into the top 16 for Sat A main be racing on Friday. Knoxville website says that Friday's top 4 finishers in the A main qualify for for positions 17 -20 for Saturdays A main. If this is the case Fridays program should be very competitive. We could have almost the entire field race on Friday night.

If you were 17 / 20 it would not help you much

I think the way it is set up is if you are not in the top 16 you have the choice to race and try to improve your points the second try or keep your points and take your chances that you make the show. If you choose to race on Friday you lose all your points and start over.

From everything I've read, the Top 16 are locked into the A.

The top 10 spots in the B have the option of keeping their points or racing on Friday, if any of them take a do-over, the next guy in line gets to choose until all 10 spots are filled or until there are no competitors left to ask.

IMO, maybe the guys starting 9 or 10 in the B (if a big name driver) will forfeit their points and race again on Friday night. I see no way that a low budget racer (or even a traveler from CA, PA, OH will give up their points and risk a crash and being buried in the E main on Saturday night.

Depends on what the purse will be. If it's 12k to win, 10k for 2nd like it is on Wed and Thurs, that's big money to pass up.

Not here to bash Knoxville, but there is some uncertainty about this year with what Friday's purse will look like and what the format of the Sunday Capitani Classic will be. Would be nice to get a press release or an update to the website soon.

They must have just recently added that.

That's great purse, and a good way to make sure everyone goes home with something.
