NCRA Sport Mods at Salina High Banks One Day Away!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas - June 1, 2012 - All systems are "go" for Saturday night's Bob Howard PDC and Mopar National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products southern sport modified event at the Salina High Banks Speedway in Salina, Oklahoma.
Only a 10% chance of rain and forecasted high's in the mid 80's await the southern sport mod drivers as they make their first of two scheduled appearances of the season at the three-eighth mile high banked oval.
Add to the anticipation of the event, what originally pays $500 to win now pays $700 to win for the nights feature finale as Broken Arrow's CP Racing Supply has added $500 to the night's purse. Second place now pays $500, third place pays $450 and fourth place pays $400.
Former series champion Todd Decker of Edmond, Oklahoma comes into race number three on the 2012 schedule with a slim ten point lead over two-time and defending series champion Chad McNamara.
Series regulars expected to compete include Bobby McGehee, Brandon Smith, Ross McCartney, Joe Adams, Kevin Snow, Greg and Andy Deterding, Kevin Dickson, Landon Maddox and J.D. Choate.
Travis Johnson, who won the season opener at 81 Speedway in Park City back in April, is the series leading feature winner and is expected to compete this weekend.
G. Deterding picked up his first career series victory in late April at Enid Speedway in Enid, Oklahoma.
The third originally scheduled event at 81 Speedway was nixed by rain back in May.
A very strong crop of rookie contenders will also see action on the high banks including Craig Ridgway, Caleb Edwards, Darin Busch, Kyle Choate, Ryan Bohnstedt, Logan Macy, Mark Harrison, Dustin McNamara and 16 year old female Courtney McCartney.
Kinzer Edwards, who currently lead the tracks factory stock point standings, will be fielding a sport mod for this event. Edwards won this event last year during his rookie season with the series, the only appearance for the NCRA sport mods to date.
Other local drivers expected to compete include Devin Gerrior, who was also a series rookie contender last year as well as Kyle Stevens.
Between twenty-five and thirty drivers are expected.
So far through the first two events that have been completed on the 2012 race season, 49 different drivers from three states have competed in at least one event.
Gates open this Saturday night at 5:00 pm with racing action set for a 7:00 pm start time.
General admission prices for adults are $15, $5 for children ages 5-12 and children four and under will be admitted free! A family ticket (two adults, two children) can be obtained for $30. Pit passes for adults are $30 and $25 pit passes for ages 12 and under.
