Several years ago there were "rumors", considered true by unnamed insiders in the sport that a few Hall of Fame inductees or not the inductees themselves but their representatives, were using less than honorable or less than principled manners in which to garner votes. I think it revolved around voting members getting heavy telephone pressure to vote for less deserving individuals. Probably common every year. Maybe it was just rumors, not sure, but are there any guidelines for voting members to use when considering who to vote for, or does it boil down to having tons of feature wins. Does an inductee's conduct outside the track or off the track have anything to do with this process. I think it was discussed once before on here, but 12 per year seems to be a big number.
Lawlessness + liberalism = HELL - NYC, Detroit, Chicago,
Seattle, LA Who the H runs those cities.

And yet, "Tiger" Gene Brown from Phoenix, Az. is still on the outside looking in. Obviously it is more about politics rather than racing achievements and records.

What about Tiger Bob Williams Independence Mo? Correct me if I am wrong but i was told Bob's finishing average for the nationals was 4th . In 1969 Bob won the Championship at Knoxville, Topeka Ks and Olympic Stadium Kansas City, Mo. winning 45 features driving Jack Cunningham's 14. Bob took off about 3 weeks after his brother Ken was killed in a crash at Topeka Ks.Bob should have been put in several years ago. Apparently a lot of politics are involved by people who do not have a clue. Mike Evans Georgetown , Tx

I think inducting 12 is fine, big rules I would change is that No more than (1) active participant can be inducted in any given year (basically, we cannot induct Steve Kinser and Sammy Swindell during the same year, or even a photographer, owner, media member, promoter, etc.).
This would open up those spots to those guys from the past that DESERVE to be inducted but get passed over because so and so turned 50 this year, he should be a first ballot hall of famer.
You are NEVER going to please everyone, but I think a small change like that would open up some spots for those old-timers.
The other change I would make is that EVERYONE that has been nominated/elgible should have their bio sent to each voting member EVERY YEAR, the way the rules are currently, it only gets sent ONCE during the first year of elgibility/nomination, so if you don't get voted in that first year you are elgible, it becomes increasing harder and harder to be included because most of those (1) sheet biographies probably get tossed or forgotten...
