NCRA Southern Sport Mods in Action This Saturday Night at 81 Speedway!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Midwest City, Oklahoma – May 14, 2012 - Former series champion Todd Decker leads the Bob Howard P.D.C and Mopar National championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products southern sport modified division back to 81 Speedway in Park City this coming Saturday night for the second of three scheduled appearances at the home track for the series.
The 2010 series champion from Edmond comes into the nights racing action with a slim ten point advantage over two-time and defending series champion Chad McNamara. Drummond, Oklahoma's Bobby McGehee looks strong after the first two races and currently sits in the third position in the point standings, just fifty points out of the lead.
Travis Johnson of Enid, who comes into the event fourth in the tours point standings, is the career feature win leader in the division with seven. Two of those feature victories came at 81 Speedway.
Sitting fifth in the point standings is series rookie of the year contender Caleb Edwards, just 75 points out of the top spot.
Drivers rounding out the top ten and expected to compete are Amarillo, Texas driver Brandon Smith (who has two feature victories at 81 Speedway), Ross McCartney, Joe Adams, Craig Ridgway and Darin Busch.
Other drivers expected to compete and who are just out of the top ten in point standings include Kevin Snow, Kevin Dickson, Landon Maddox, J.D. Choate, rookie contenders Kyle Choate, Ryan Bohnstedt, Logan Macy and Courtney McCartney. Between twenty-five and thirty cars are expected.
Ridgway and Edwards are tied atop the rookie standings followed by Busch, K. Choate, Bohnstedt, Macy and McCartney.
This race will be the sixth event held at the track since the tours inception back in 2009. Winners include Johnson (2), Smith (2) and Jeff Autry.
So far through the first two events that have been completed on the 2012 race season, 49 different drivers from three states have competed in at least one event.
Gates open this Saturday night at 5:00 pm with racing action set for a 7:00 pm start time.
General admission prices are $10, $5 for children while pit passes are $20.
