NCRA Sport Mod Division Heads to Enid Speedway This Sunday!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – April 16, 2012 - The Bob Howard PDC and Mopar National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products southern sport modified division will take to the Garfield County Fairgrounds and Enid Speedway in Enid, Oklahoma this coming Sunday evening in the first of two events scheduled at the track for the 2012 race season.
Travis Johnson, who won the season opener two weeks ago at 81 Speedway in Park City, is currently tied atop the point standings with two-time and defending series champion Chad McNamara. Johnson, the career series sport mod feature winner (7) has won all four previous series events held at Enid Speedway, all dating back to 2010.
Former series champion Todd Decker sits third in the point standings while Ross McCartney and Bobby McGehee are tied for the fourth position.
Craig Ridgway, Kevin Dickson and rookie contender Caleb Edwards are all three tied for the sixth spot in the point standings while Jim Pearcy and Andrew Wallace round out the top ten.
Other drivers expected to compete include Robert Elliott, last season's rookie of the year Brandon Smith of Amarillo, Texas, Kevin Snow, Kip Hughes, Darin Busch, Landon Maddox and the racing family Bohnstedt's consisting of Joe, Randy and Ryan.
Elliott, who has four career series feature victories, will be driving the Johnie Rauschenberg owned #21.
Other rookie of the year contenders include Kyle Choate and Logan Macy.
Close to forty drivers from three different states are expected.
Enid Speedway, which will compete on the fourth Sunday of each month with the exception of a special Fourth of July event featuring the NCRA late model division, will also see the regular divisions of modifieds, factory stocks and pure stocks.
Start time for this Sunday afternoon's event will start at 5:05 pm as the lights on the fairgrounds track, which were damaged during the storm late last year, have yet to be repaired by Fairgrounds officials. Gates will open at 3:00 pm.
