Several of our fans have called inquiring about who is in our car this Saturday and unfortunately, no one will be. After 19 years of being the major contributor to Moose Racing we are not able to run even a partial schedule this year without help. Moose racing and the Cardey's were hoping to have a merger of teams and share expenses this year, but after last Sundays practice that has to be put on hold. David is to tall for our standard chassis, and piling books on his head to get his to shrink, or stretching the car won't work. This is leaving us really bummed. Hopefully we can find a person(s) or chassis donor to make this work in the near future. Until then, thank you so much for all your past years of support and hope to be back on the track soon..

This post really leaves me bummed. I hope something can be worked out in the near future. I know the passion that Laurie and Tom have for this sport and this post has to be tearing them up. I have no doubt that this decision did not come easily. I am hopeful they will work something out and the Moose Mobile will be on the track soon. Tom and Laurie are some of the biggest supporters of 410 Sprint Cars in Southern California I have ever met. They always put a quality car on the grid. Let's hope someone steps up and helps, or someone's. I think the Moose/Cardey combination would be potent.

Terribly sad news!!! The Moose Racing team has been a very competitive team and a long time participant in So. Cal 410 sprint car racing. Everybody who is invloved with the Moose Racing team are very friendly whenever I have stopped by their pit to talk. I certainly hope Tom and Laurie find some assistance to get the Moose Mobile back on the track.

A halo is an arced roll cage addition to insure that you have 2" of roll cage above your head.

Sorry I did not clarify "Halo" Some tall drivers must have a halo welded to the top of the rollcage, as Moon stated, to have the required clearance. Win to Mega tonight I will buy Moose a chassis! Plus every thing else needed to run. Hee HAA LOL

if you dont fit , you dont fit ! normally halos are not the answer . if it were that easy chassis manuf. would not be building chassis with taller cages , besides that not many reputable chassis manuf. offer a halo due to the fact that it affects chassis dynamics ( flex or twist )no good driver wants his or in some cases her head anywhere near the top of the cage ...

Correct. With the money situation as it is, sometimes to get on the track you need to do what you can. Halo not the perfect answer by any means.

for most with no driving experience it is very hard to understand what is acceptable to a driver and where the line is they will not cross .most of the regs on scrafan viewed the sprint car crash test .well the cage didnt hold up all that well when it was rammed into a solid surface .to make a long story short , drivers like to be as far down from the top of the cage as it is possible .even when a cage hits first the neck can easily hyper-extend 6 inches . if you were only 4 inches down in the cage and this happened your head has a good chance of making contact with a surface .dirt isn't too bad , concrete really hurts and steel has a bad tendency to do really bad things to a racer .. a halo will stop something from coming in the cage on top of a driver , but a driver that gets smashed into a halo is a bad situation ..with hard work and perseverance the moose team will be back ...

Anything from the Cardey's????? Back to the top. How many posts have this many hits. Shows that the Moose team is truly missed. I think the Moose/Cardey team would be absolutely amazing.
