Thanks for sharing this. I was there than night. It was a great thing to see. Brad Doty is one of the best people ever in sprint car racing. Before and after his accident. Always a nice guy !!!! Even to us drunks after the races.

There were a lot of pretty tough guys wiping their eyes in the pits that night and a lot of lumps in many throats, I'll never forget it, one of my greatest memories in this sport. My lucky Thumbs-Up shot is among my favorite of all time....

I was doing a radio interview a week or so ago and was asked if the
footage of my pace lap at Eldora was on Youtube and when I said no, they
questioned why not.
I guess I had never thought about it and no one else did either.
Now thanks to CL Motorsports media guru Kyle Luetters, who posted it on Youtube, it is there for the world to see.
Also, thank you to everyone for their comments and memories about that
night and a special thanks to Larry Wood who built/resurrected the #18
for giving me the opportunity to have such an extraordinary night and
memory!
To Twenty 8, you asked about an interview after words, I was part of the
live TV broadcast on TNN that night and when I got out of the car I
went back up to the booth and finished the show, with my fire suit still
on by the way, and Steve Evans asked me about it then and we briefly
talked about it during the race.
