The Spring Meltdown is a month away The Spring Meltdown is only a month away. On April 6 & 7 I-80 Speedway will open it's 2012 racing season with the Spring Meltdown. The ASCS Midwest Sprint Car Series will be running complete programs each night paying $2,500 to win and $250 to start. Many of the best sprint car drivers in the Midwest are expected to be on hand including 2011 ASCS Midwest Series Champion Jack Dover of Springfield, Nebraska, Brian Brown, Jordan Boston, Bryan Gossel, Lee Grosz, Bill Alley and many others. Also racing Friday night, April 6 will be the SLMR series featuring defending champion Travis Dickes of Madison, Nebraska, Leon Zeitner, Kyle Berck, Mike Wiarda, Justin Zeitner, Al Humphrey and the rest of the SLMR drivers. Also racing Friday night are A Mods paying $1,000 to win. Pit Gates open at 4pm, Grandstands at 5:30pm with racing at 7pm. Adult tickets are $20, Kids (6-12) $5, and 5 and under free. Pit Passes are $30. On Saturday, April 7 the ASCS Sprints return again racing for $2,500 to win and $250 to start. B Mods will be racing for $600 to win. Finally the CBC/MLRA Super Late Model will be racing for the purse which pays $3,000 to win and $400 to start, but also a provisional starting spot in the Silver Dollar Nationals (SDN) to be held at I-80 on July 19-21. The Silver Dollar Nationals will be even bigger this year with the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series co-sanctioning the event with the MLRA. The winner of Saturday nights Spring Meltdown will receive a provisional into the Silver Dollar Nationals. If that driver qualifies for the Silver Dollar Nationals through the heat or last chance races of the SDN earning a higher starting spot in the SDN, then the highest finisher of the Spring Meltdown not qualified for the SDN will receive the provisional from the Spring Meltdown. Brad Looney is the defending champion of the Spring Meltdown. Saturday night the Pit Gate opens at 3pm, Grandstand at 4:30pm with racing at 5:55pm. Adult tickets are $20, Kids (6-12) are $5 with 5 and under free. Pit Passes are $30. For more information, call I-80 Speedway at (402)-342-3453.
