3rd year sprint car driver Brent Marks picked up the win over Kevin Nouse, Danny Dietrich, Cory Haas, Alan Krimes, Doug Esh, Adam Wilt, Fred Rahmer, Cody Darrah and Ryan Bohlke. Brent Marks finished 2nd last week, a good start would be an understatement for this family-owned team.
Fans were complaining about the top drivers being absent last week due to All-Star races, but Fred Rahmer was the only driver today in the top 10 that was absent last week. Hodnett, Pittman, Schuhart, Ott and Rahmer all returned. Nick Schlauch, Steve Storrie and the 2010 National Sprint Rookie of the Year Brad McClelland made their first appearances of the season as well.
There were 33 cars. The only invader was Western PA product, Danny Holtgraver. Holtgraver charged from 7th to 3rd in his heat, but was not a factor in the feature.
Daryn Pittman had problems right off the trailer, they didn't fire in hotlaps and he didn't come out in the heat either. He came out in the B but with a day-time surface, he was unable to transfer.
Brian Monteith had evident handling problems in his heat and that led to him on the wrecker. He also tried to come from the back of the B but failed.
After seeing 2 of Central PA's top local drivers struggle to pass rookies in the B, they put about 10 minutes into the track surface and the A was some pretty good close racing.
Last week's winner Adam Wilt drew the pole and led for the beginning and looked poised to win. Marks got around him on a restart and never looked back.
Kevin Nouse continues to impress in his new ride coming from 8th to 2nd in his heat and 5th to 2nd in the feature. He challenged multiple times for the lead and may have had the fastest car on the track. Him and Dietrich had a hell of battle for 2nd right behind Marks. Kevin finished 3rd last week.
Cody Darrah started 6th and looked quick early, getting as high as 3rd but faded at the end.
Brian Leppo's struggles in the Keen 17 continued. He went nowhere in his heat and had to transfer through the B. He was involved in an early accident and was able to return but went nowhere and came to a stop under a caution and called it a night.
I believe handicap starts next week. Lincoln runs their final day show next week, Selinsgrove is running a Sunday day show as well. Port Royal turns on the lights in 2 weeks.
From the Lincoln website:
Feature (25-Laps) - 1. 19M-Brent Marks ($3,200); 2. 14-Kevin Nouse; 3. 48-Danny Dietrich; 4. 11C-Cory Haas; 5. 87-Alan Krimes; 6. 30-Doug Esh; 7. 15-Adam Wilt; 8. 51-Fred Rahmer; 9. 89-Cody Darrah; 10. 2-Ryan Bohlke; 11. 6-Brad McClelland; 12. 4-John Rudisill; 13. 39-Greg Hodnett; 14. 92-JJ Grasso; 15. 59-Jim Siegel; 16. D4-Danny Holtgraver; 17. 85-Gerard McIntyre, Jr.; 18. 21K-Kyle Pruitt; 19. 77-Aaron Ott (DNF); 20. 17-Brian Leppo (DNF); 21. 65-Johnny Mackison, Jr. (DNF); 22. 38N-Nick Schlauch, Jr. (DNF); 23. 8-Billy Dietrich (DNF); 24. 1S-Logan Schuchart (DNF).

Thanks for the great recap. What a nice field of cars to have to endure such a lousy surface.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

LOL. It's been pretty quiet over on the Grove board. Not much being said about that spectacular performance yesterday by the 21. Congrats to Marks on the win. He ran a great race.

No Smitty, Putney didn't drop the ball. 1 1/2" of rain on Friday night. Maybe you naysayers should come out of your hole and see that the weather was sunny and 20 plus mile an hour winds. All other area speedways would have cancelled.

Stew didn't even show up till the end of heats. He was alone and empty handed. He was out of sorts.

Oh, I was under the impression that he was some type of track prep God? Daylight races suck, they should all be banned!

While I would be the first to say the track sucked but, the racing was actually very good this week... :-/

Sure, daytime surfaces aren't the best, but it's only for a few races at the beginning of the year, when it's normally way too cold to race at night, and it's still better than sitting in my house staring at the tv!!
Congrats to the 19m team on their win!!
When in doubt, gas it!!
