I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on some campsites close to the track in Knoxville. We have camped out on the north campground for 9 or 10 years and every year we say we are going to stop at some of the other "campgrounds" and get some info and try to move closer to the track, but every year the week gets away from us and we forget. Can anyone give me a little info. I know when we walk to the track there seem to be empty spots much closer to the track.
thanks in advance

we are at the north campground at the back. Basically, at the end of town. When we walk to the track we pass through many campgrounds near the red carpet inn, the radio station etc. I was looking for some contact info on some of those areas nearer the track. Any help would be much appreciated.
thanks.

we stayed out at lake red rock, not near town but quiet and the lake is right there.
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

Funny to see this as I was thinking about posting the same question. We are going in a motorhome this year and would like to be as close to the track as possible. We were looking at Van Donslers (not sure if I spelled that right?) I know where it is but I haven't been to Knoxville for a year. Can someone refresh me about how far of a walk that would be to the track? And in your opinion, too far for a five year old?
And what about the Armory what do they offer for hookups? I know there is no sewer but what about water and electric?
Any other ideas?
