A Full Weekend Of KISS Racing

June 5, 2007 –- In the previous six editions of the King of Indiana Sprint Series (KISS), five different Kings have been crowned. Only Jon Stanbrough has had multiple reigns. The 9-race 2007 series is one-third over and Stanbrough has visited victory lane three times. Do the math: nine from three, carry the two, err, three races, three wins, 100%, as in sweep. It’s elementary, as in old school.

However there are more than a hundred non-winged sprint cars in the state of Indiana and the majority of the drivers of those cars do not think the wheelman of the Fox Brothers’ DRC will sweep. Most of them think that on at least one night, he will be beaten and that they can do it.

Three more races, three more opportunities. On Friday, June 15th, the KISS series unloads at Bloomington Speedway. On Saturday the 16th, KISS will headline at Lincoln Park Speedway. And Sunday, June 17th, the KISS racers take to Kokomo Speedway. Of Stanbrough’s ten victories this season, half have been on the clay ovals in Bloomington and Kokomo. Those are the facts.

Bloomington’s grandstands will open at 5:30 on Friday, June 15th, with hot laps at 6:30 and racing an hour later. General admission for every KISS race this year is $15, with pit passes at $30. At Bloomington, youngsters 12 and under are admitted free with an adult. The racing program will include UMP Modifieds and Indiana Super Stocks. Visit www.bloomingtonspeedway.com for more information.

Located in Putnamville, IN, Lincoln Park Speedway will open the main gate at 4:30 and begin hot laps at 5:30 on Saturday, June 16th, with the first races lining up at 7 pm. The schedule will include a School Bus Race, modifieds, super stocks and bombers. Kids 5 and under are free, and admission for 6 – 10 year olds is just $5. The Lincoln Park Speedway website is at http://lincolnparkspeedway.homestead.com/.

Sunday, June 17th, the KISS show is at Kokomo Speedway, where the front gate will open at 4 pm. Ages 6 and under are free, and admission for 7 – 10 year olds is just $5. The program will include UMP Thunder Car, UMP Street Stock and Pure Stock divisions. The front and pit gates open at 3 pm with racing at 6:15. The track website is at www.kokomospeedway.net.

Each KISS feature will pay $2,500 to win and $250 to start. B-Main starters who don’t transfer will take home $100. The KISS point fund is worth $1,400 to the 2007 King, with $1,000 for second, and pays eight places deep.

Stanbrough’s exploits have given the two-time King a 25-point margin over Brady Short, and 42 points more than Shane Hollingsworth. They are the only drivers to have started the feature races at Gas City, North Vernon and Lawrenceburg. But with six events remaining, there is still a lot of racing until the coronation.

SPONSORS. Sponsorship from Indiana Stone Works has boosted the payoff at each event and B-Main starters are guaranteed $100. Elliottbrand Web Designs, in Westport, IN, created the KISS website, which provides a highly functional and effective tool that places the King Of Indiana Sprint Series within arms length of racing fans around town and around the world. Visit them at www.Elliottbrand.com. Sprint Car & Midget Magazine, Simpson Performance Products and RockStar Paint sponsor the unique KISS champion’s helmet. Kiva Networking in Bloomington is the host of the KISS website.

The King of Indiana Sprint Series is organized and conducted by the individual Indiana sprint car race track promoters to put the best racing in the state on a heavy metal old school racing tour. Information is now available on our website, www.kissracing.com.
