CAN THE PAS GO 9-FOR-9 SATURDAY? MILLER NAILS 2ND CRA WIN, TAKING VENTURA FEATURE
JUNE 4, 2007 --- The Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars return to Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway Saturday, with Tony Jones continuing as the series leader. The track has already produced eight different winners in eight races this year.
Jones finished fifth in last Saturday’s race at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway and has a sizeable 145-point lead over Mike Spencer in the latest standings.
Blake Miller of Yorba Linda, Calif. appears to be the hottest driver in the series, though, winning again for the second time in three races. Miller and the Black Widow/Gardner Pipe & Mechanical Sled/Shaver led the final 10 laps of Saturday’s 30-lap race at Ventura, beating Spencer, Danny Sheridan, Rip Williams and Jones to the checkered flag. David Cardey led the fist 20 laps but finished 15th.
Miller has a first and a third in five starts at The PAS this season but still stands outside the top-10 in series points!
LUCAS OIL USAC/CRA SPRINT CAR SERIES STANDINGS 1 Tony Jones 984 2 Mike Spencer 839 3 Danny Sheridan 834 4 Rickie Gaunt 818 5 Scotty Weir 718 6 Rip Williams 624 7 Cory Kruseman 591 8 R.J. Johnson 510 9 Darren Hagen 460 10 David Cardey 448

Release for Ventura Raceway for 6-9-07
(Oxnard, CA 6/04/2007) Ventura Raceway will continue its 2007 racing season at its Ventura County Fairgrounds racing facility this Saturday night June 9, with a full program of exciting racing action beginning at 5:30pm. On that night Ventura Raceway will be featuring four adult classes and one junior class. VRA Sprints and USAC Midgets will headline tonight’s action. After last weeks exciting night of USAC/CRA Sprint cars and VRA Senior Sprints that saw 2005 VRA Sprint Car Champion Blake Miller take his second USAC/CRA Sprint Car win, the VRA 360 Sprint Cars, USAC Midgets, Ford Focus Midgets, VRA Sport Compacts and VRA Junior Focus Midgets are here to continue where they left of on their last appearances in May.
Led by VRA 360 Point leader Greg Taylor, the VRA 360 Sprints have put on some of the best racing ever seen at Ventura Raceway. Almost every week we have seen drivers come on to win in the last few laps of their 30 lap feature events. Greg Taylor has four win so far in 2007 and he will be going for two in a row Saturday against the best VRA competitors, including Kevin Kierce, 2006 series champion Luis Espinoza, Dennis Rodriguez, Eric Severson, Rick Hendrix and rookie sensation Johnathon Henry who has one feature win so far in 2007. Johnathon started on the pole and finished 12th in his first ever USAC/CRA event last weekend.
Also returning to action Saturday will be the mighty USAC Midgets. On their last visit to Ventura Raceway on May 19 Garrett Hansen passed veteran Robby Flock on the last lap to take the 30 lap feature event. This battle will surely resume on Saturday night. Others scheduled to appear include Chris Rahe, Johnny Rodriguez, Scott Pierovich, Randi Pankratz, C J Sarna, Matt Mitchell and a host of other fine USAC Midget competitors.
Other classes set to compete Saturday night are our own VRA Sport Compacts, VRA Junior Ford Focus and USAC Ford Focus Midgets. In the Sport compacts, point leader Joel Chavez will be going for his fifth win of the season, after his win on May 19. VRA Junior Focus drivers will resume action with point leader Alex Bowman and the rest of the class’s drivers trying to stop Austin Mero who has won the last two races in a row from making it a record three wins in a row. Finally the USAC/VRA Ford Focus Midgets will getting back to competition, led by point leader Nic Faas who took the win here on May 19. 2006 VRA Junior Ford Focus Champion Robby Josett will be here to try to continue his Ford Focus competition that has seen him win and finish second in his only two events since turning 16 and being able to run with the regular Focus cars.
Pit gates open at 12 noon and front gates open at 3:30PM with racing getting under way at 5:30pm. Admission for this event is $14.00 for adults, $11.00 for seniors/military and juniors. Kids 7-12 are $5.00 and kids 6 and under are free. For more information, please call Ventura Raceway at (805) 985-5433.

Pacific Sprints, Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks will resume their championship campaigns. The three regulars will be joined by the Midget Lites of the Bay Cities Racing Association. Saturday’s event will be the first of several special nights during the 2007 racing season that will recognized the member of the El Dorado County New Car Dealer Association, the title sponsor of Placerville Speedway since the 2005 racing season. This Saturday will be “Thompson’s Toyota Night at the Races.” Ron Thompson, the owner of Thompson’s Toyota has always been a great contributor to local auto racing, not only supporting the track but many cars throughout the years as well. With five events into the season, veteran sprint car driver C.J. Humphreys of Placerville continues to lead the Hoosier Racing Tires sprint car division. Humphreys, currently in his best season of racing, leads the division with an 8-point advantage over defending track champion Greg DeCaires of Elk Grove. DeCaires, in his final year behind the wheel of the John Taylor Motorsports #35 holds the bridesmaid position by just three points over local favorite Jimmy Trulli of Diamond Springs. Placerville’s Scott Russell is one of four local drivers in the top five point standings. Russell sits fourth, just 16-points from the lead and holds off Placerville’s James Sweeney. Sweeney is deemed responsible for the recent increase in attendance at Placerville Speedway for female spectators ranging from 16 to 19 years of age and his popularity is sure to continue to grow as he sits just 22-points away from the division point lead. PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY... 18700 Lake Perris Drive... Perris, CA 92571 (951) 940-0134 www.perrisautospeedway.com
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LUCAS OIL USAC/CRA SPRINT CARS AT THE PAS AND THE SOPRANOS HIGHLIGHT THIS WEEKEND’S ENTERTAINMENT!
(JUNE 5, 2007, PERRIS, CA) This is a weekend everybody has been looking forward to with a lot of anticipation. The tension is thick and there are beads of sweat forming on everyone’s forehead as they wonder. Many scratch their knuckles and speculate to those close by about what is about to happen. Heck no, we are not referring to the final ever episode of the Sopranos? We are talking of the next race for the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, presented by Temecula Valley Pipe and Supply, at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00. June is ”Kid’s Month” at The PAS and all kids 12 and under will be admitted free on Saturday when an adult accompanies them.
Heading into the weekend, Tony still sits on top of the heap, but someone is determined to knock him off his pedestal. Come on now, get this straight! We are not talking of Phil Leotardo’s attempts to bump off Tony Soprano! We are talking about the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Series point leader Tony Jones being challenged by the hottest Sprint Car drivers in the nation the past couple of weeks, Blake Miller. And, even though his nickname is “The Bullet,” Miller plans to takedown Jones in a Sprint Car on the famous Riverside County clay oval instead of with a nine millimeter outside the Bada Bing.
In reality, Miller, a slender red headed 20 year-old from Yorba Linda, California, has been on fire for nearly a month. On May 12th, the 2005 VRA Sprint Car champion flipped in turn one just after taking the lead in the main event from Jones at The PAS and was thus denied his first ever 410 Sprint Car win. However, he rectified that situation two weeks later when he won the Annual Salute to Indy main event at The PAS on Memorial Day weekend.
Less than 24 hours after the win at The PAS, Miller shattered the 410 traditional Sprint Car one lap track record at the Thunderbowl in Tulare, California and he finished fifth in the main event that evening. Last Saturday, Miller shined again on his old VRA stomping grounds when the series hit the beach at Jim Naylor’s Ventura Raceway. For the second show in a row, he was fast qualifier and for the second time in a week, he won the main event. That second victory ties Miller with Jones, Ventura, California’s Cory Kruseman and Scotty Weir of Marion, Indiana as the only drivers in the series with more than one win in 2007. By the way, Miller’s two wins have come in only five starts in Jeff Gardner’s eight year-old Sled chassis.
While Miller has been the man of the hour, Norco, California’s Jones has been the man of the year. Heading into Saturday’s competition on the lightning fast clay oval, the “Open Wheel Cowboy” holds a commanding 145-point lead over Temecula, California’s Mike Spencer in the championship standings. Through 17 races, Jones has been having a remarkable season. He has only finished out of the top five four times all season long and only once has he finished worse than 7th (14th on march 9th at Las Vegas).
Rising star “Showtime” Danny Sheridan, of Santa Maria, California, has closed to within five-points of second place Spencer.
Thus far in 2007, The PAS has hosted eight Lucas Oil USAC/CRA races and there is yet to be a repeat winner. Among the stars who have not won at The PAS this year are defending USAC/CRA champion Kruseman, 2004 USAC/CRA Champion Rip Williams of Yorba Linda, California and 2004 SCRA Champion “Super Rickie” Gaunt of Torrance, California.
We have to ask the following compelling questions regarding this weekend. Can Blake Miller keep his hot streak alive? Can Tony Jones maintain his huge point lead? Will there be nine different PAS winners in nine races after Saturday night? Can Mike Spencer hold off Danny Sheridan? Will Silvio Dante survive his gunshot wounds and who will win the war between Tony Soprano and Phil Leotardo? The only way to get the answers for the first four questions is to visit Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night. Answers for the other two will be determined on Sunday at 6:00 PM Pacific time on HBO.
This weekend’s tense display by the dirt track desperados will include qualifying, four clay slingin’ 10-lap heat races and a 12 lap B main and a 30 lap A main event shootout.
On Friday, the red-hot drag racing action at the Street Legal Strip at The PAS will continue. Friday’s gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:00.
Anyone wishing more information can contact Perris Auto Speedway at (951) 940-0134.

Press Release, Golden State Challenge Series
For Immediate Release Petaluma Speedway begins busy week for California 410 teams
By Gary Thomas
Petaluma, CA - June 6, 2007... Campbell’s Brent Kaeding will lead the way into a busy week of action for the Golden State Challenge 410 sprint car teams beginning with an event this Saturday night June 9 at the Petaluma Speedway. Saturday’s event will mark the final appearance of the season in Petaluma for the west coast’s premier traveling 410 winged sprint car series.
This past weekend in Watsonville and Placerville saw Kaeding sweep both events to push his season win total up to seven. BK’s win on Saturday in Placerville came during the most exciting main event of the season as the 12-time King of California battled wheel to wheel with Auburn’s Andy Forsberg for virtually the whole race. In the end Kaeding won out and scored his 77th career GSC win and pushed his lead in the series standings to 15. BK has had a terrific year so far aboard the Al’s Roofing Supply, Kaeding Performance, Selco Heating & Air No. 69 and is just one win shy of tying son Tim for the single season win mark which was set in 2004.
When the Golden State Challenge Series visited Petaluma on May 25, it was Oroville’s Sean Becker picking up his second win of the season aboard the Fisher/Main Motorsports, Cherry St. Mini Storage, Rolling Hills Reality No. 35m. Becker sits second in points and will look to close in on Kaeding’s 15 point lead at Petaluma. "The Shark" charged from 12th to third during last Saturday’s main event in Placerville putting on a great show for the fans.
Chico’s Jonathan Allard sits third in points and is building momentum following a pair of runner-up finishes last weekend. The defending King of California hasn’t finished outside the top four in the last five races and will be a force at Petaluma in the Williams Motorsports, GT Trends, K & N Filters No. 0. Allard swept both Petaluma GSC events last season and finished fourth at the track on May 25.
Willie Croft of Sacramento comes into the night fourth in GSC points. Croft drove his Holey Smokes BBQ, LRB Manufacturing, D & D Roofing No. 29 to a third place finish at Petaluma on May 25. The driver known as "Double Down" rebounded last Saturday at Placerville with a sixth place finish following a dnf the night before in Watsonville.
Rounding out the top five in the GSC standings heading into Petaluma is Las Gatos driver Jason Statler. Statler suffered engine problems last Saturday in his Tom Rolfe Trucking, DF Rios Construction, Pheasant Run Shopping Center No. 10, which forced him out of the feature early in the going.
Other drivers expected at Petaluma this Saturday will include: Salinas’ Ronnie Day, Chico’s Brett Miller, Campbell’s Bud Kaeding, Gilroy’s Jon Maiwald, Tracy’s Jason Botsford, Scotts Valley’s Evan Suggs, Fresno’s Mark Workentine and more. GSC regular Jim Skinner will miss his third race in a row after blowing an engine at Calistoga during the Salute to Walt Ross.
The front gate at the Petaluma Speedway opens at 4:30 on Saturday with racing set to begin around 7. All seating is general admission and ages 12-64 will be $16, juniors 6-11 will be $12 and kids five and under are free. Seniors 65 and over will be $10. To get to the track take Highway 101 to the Washington Blvd exit. Then go West on Washington Blvd to Ellis St. and turn left into the fairgrounds. For more info visit http://www.petaluma-speedway.com
After Petaluma the Golden State Challenge Series drivers and teams will get on I-5 and head North to the Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, Oregon for an event on Monday night June 11. Last season’s event at Southern Oregon fell victim to rain. Previous winners of the event include Brent Kaeding, Tim Kaeding and Tim Shaffer. Gates open at 4 pm on Monday with general admission tickets costing $15. More info visit http://www.sospeedway.com
Dirt Cup looms ahead: Following the event on Monday in Medford, many of the California 410 teams will continue heading North to Alger, Washington to compete in the 36th annual Dirt Cup presented by Foley RV & Camping World at Skagit Speedway. The Dirt Cup will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and will award $25,000 to the winner of Saturday night’s 40 lap main event.
Expected in the field will be four former Dirt Cup champions from the Golden State. They include Chico’s Jonathan Allard, Campbell’s Brent Kaeding, Salinas’ Ronnie Day and Santa Cruz’s Kevin Pylant.
Allard will be seeking his third straight Dirt Cup title and if he could accomplish that, he would become the first driver to ever win three in a row. The 30 year-old driver started out the season slowly which made it a question mark whether he would be a serious contender at the Dirt Cup, but over the last month he and his Williams Motorsports team have found their mark and have been very strong. Last season Allard held off San Jose’s Tim Kaeding in a heated battle to score his second Dirt Cup victory.
Brent Kaeding has had a remarkable season winning seven Golden State Challenge Series features prior to the June 9 stop in Petaluma. Kaeding is a three time Dirt Cup champ, but has struggled the past two seasons in the event and last year ended up 15th during the final night. BK has been a different driver this season, however, and has looked like the driver that has won 12 King of California titles and just about every major sprint car race on the west coast. Kaeding has scored big wins this season at the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial, the Pombo-Sargent Classic and the Chris Faria Memorial. BK’s last Dirt Cup win came in 1999. The hogs have had the Al’s Roofing Supply No. 69 on a rail this season and it should be no different at Dirt Cup.
Day comes into this year’s Dirt Cup having a tough season, but the veteran driver has the potential to break out at any moment. Last year’s Dirt Cup saw Day fail to make the main event on Saturday night, but the previous year saw him win the Friday prelim and finish third in the finale. Day has been fast at times this year but seems to have bad luck more often than not. It has remarkably been nearly two years since Day has won a race, but if his Ridgeline Framing No. 1 team give him the right stuff, he can certainly change that at the Dirt Cup, an event he won in 2000.
It was announced in a Skagit Speedway press release on Tuesday that Pylant will be at the Dirt Cup as well. The 1995 champion of the event has made just one start this season, which came at Ocean Speedway on June 1.
Other California drivers expected to compete at the Dirt Cup include Sean Becker, Tim Kaeding, Bud Kaeding, Willie Croft, Jason Statler, Evan Suggs, Peter Murphy, Jason Botsford, and Jason York.
Aussi Trevor Green, who has been racing with the Golden State Challenge Series over the last month, will be another contender at Dirt Cup. Green won a prelim at the Dirt Cup in 2004 while driving the Williams Motorsports No. 0.
Elk Grove, CA native Kyle Hirst will be aboard the Harley Van Dyke 5h at Dirt Cup. The son of former NARC champ Rick Hirst has been very strong in limited California starts this season.
Medford, OR resident and Rio Linda, CA native Roger Crockett will be aboard the California based Henderson Motorsports 7n at the Dirt Cup. Crockett has scored one win, four top five finishes and two fast times with GSC while driving the 7n machine this season. Crockett has also had much success in the 7n with the NSCS 360 Series which races in Oregon and Washington. In 6 NSCS starts he has won three times, has finished in the top five at each race and has set fast time on four separate occasions. Crockett has never won the Dirt Cup but car owner Henderson has in the past, most recently in 2001 with driver Steve Kent. Henderson also has a remarkable amount of consistency at the Dirt Cup. Up till last season the 7n hadn’t finished out of the top five at Dirt Cup since 1999. In fact at one point this decade, the Kent/Henderson combination finished on the podium in five straight Dirt Cups.
Fairmount, IN driver Brandon Wimmer will be a strong contender at the Dirt Cup as he wheels the Roth Motorsports No. 83jr. Wimmer has won four races this season in California aboard the ARB Inc, Redi-Green Motorsports No. 1k, but destroyed the primary car at Calistoga Speedway during a hard crash in turn two over the Memorial Day Weekend. Last Saturday in Placerville Wimmer competed aboard the Billy Sellers owned No. 15x with the Redi-Green 1k engine in the car and scored a fifth place finish. He will be tough to beat in the always potent Roth 83jr.
It will all be kicked off on Wednesday night June 13 with the annual Dirt Cup Party in the parking lot at Haggen Food & Pharmacy in Burlington, Washington. Ashley Furniture Night This Friday Night at Silver Dollar Speedway by Troy Hennig
CHICO, CA (6-4-07) - Chico's Jonathan Allard leads the sprint point standings heading into Ashley Furniture Night at Silver Dollar Speedway this Friday night, June 8. Allard, leads the championship by nine points over defending track champion And Forsberg of Auburn. San Jose specialist Jason Statler sits in the third spot 14-points behind Allard for the lead.
Both Forsberg and Statler will be looking to win their first main event of the year and cash in on the Ashley Furniture bonus money. The 25-lap sprint car main event will pay $2,000 to win. Allard has three wins this season during the Friday night Feather Falls Casino, Coors and Hoosier Tire championship series. The 410-winged sprint cars, dirt modifieds and pure stocks will race during Ashley Furniture night. The BCRA Midget Lites were scheduled to race on this night, however, the series elected to pass on racing this weekend at Chico.
Adult admission is $10.00 for the main grandstand. Junior and seniors price is $8.00. Children are $4.00. Front grandstand will open at 6 pm. Racing is slated to start at 7:30. As usual Ashley Furniture will conduct a drawing for the fans with a chance to win a free mattress from their amazing store of treasures.
The sprint car title is far from being over. Allard, the current leader, traditionally leaves at the end of July to race back East with the World of Outlaws. Forsberg and Statler will battle for the top honor. Following them is Chico's Stephen Allard, who the last time the 410's raced at Chico he was the winner. Allard is a former champion of the speedway when he tied with Shane Scott in 1997. Don't count out Chico's Brett Miller. He has one feature win and runs as well as anyone during the Friday night series.
Chico's Richard Papenhausen is starting to pull away in the dirt modified championship. Papenhausen has two main event wins and a 32-point lead over Chico's Darin Ruley. Papenhausen has been a fixture at the Silver Dollar Speedway for many seasons and looks to win a champion this season. If he falters look no further than Ruley who has attended every race this year and is the closest to Papenhausen.
Chico's Mark Abouzeid sits in the third spot. He is pretty far back though. Abouzeid is 98-points behind Papenhausen. However, the battle for third is probably the best challenge in the series. Randy McDaniel is fourth and just three points behind Abouzeid. Chris Compton is fifth and only six points behind McDaniel. The month of June should be very interesting watching this division mix it up on the track.
The pure stock division returns to the speedway after a month lay off from racing at the Speedway. Chico female driver Heather Bartlett leads the division by 15-points over Jeff Olschowka. Bartlett is the crowd favorite and has won two main events this year. In four starts this season, Bartlett has finished in the top five on all four occasions. Olschowka is last years defending champion and hunger for his first win of the season. Mike Slightom is third in points and right there if the top two falter at all. Robert Mull and Jemery Stone round out the top five in this competitive racing.
