Did the Chase format sell tickets? Pretty much every NASCAR race all year long, chase races included, were run in front of the smallest crowds the Cup series has had in a long time. It was actually shocking to see some of the crowd shots at NASCAR races this year and realize how many empty seats there were at some of the Cup races this year.
Like I wrote earlier, this thread is kinda like the Bizarro World to me. LOL Most of the time, people on this board seem way too critical and dismisive of anything NASCAR related.

I am not the one who said Nascar used the format to sell tickets, YOU ARE!!! I was defending the reason they tried to mix it up a little. If you keep doing your business the same way for 60 years and don't make any changes, you won't be in business forever. All I was saying is that they can't be put down for trying to make changes to peak interest and draw ticket sales. Will it work? Time will tell, but i am not the one who brought up the ticket sales, you are.

Not a NASCAR fan, but have been following Tony due to his sprint car activities, and that was NOT a boring race at all. Smoke drove a hellacious race, passed 118 cars... wow

all forms of recreation and sports attendance has been down for a few years now. in case you haven't noticed reported unemployment has been around 9% for the past 3 years. the actual unemployment figures are close to twice that. gas prices are double what they were 3 years ago. it seems everything we buy has increased in price. people have less money to spend, especially disposable income. even if they don't have less to spend they are not as quick to spend money they think they may need in the future as they are uncertain of their economic situation.
most nascar venues can hold upwards of 100k to 160k people. when you have 120k in a venue that holds 160k you will notice some empty seats.
you seem to look for ways to make negative comments about nascar without addressing the reality of the situation. jealousy is not healthy.
p.s. people may not have been able to attend as many races in person, but they were still watching all year long: http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news?slug=ap-nascar-homestead-ratings
to indy and beyond!!

Yea, I am consumed by my jealousy of NASCAR. LOL It is eating me up inside and ruining my health. I have only stated on here how many times now that I think this board goes way overboard with their criticms and the stupid "NASCRAP" and "NAPCAR" comments, but I am the one that is jealous. I am still trying to figure out what the hell I am jealous of. I have freely admitted on here quite in the past that I watch NASCAR, unlike so many of the other posters on here that claim to never watch NASCAR but somehow know every detail of every race.

Hearing Tony talk to AJ after the race was Priceless. If you watched some of the post Race interviews, you could see Tony was Totally spent. He left it all out on the track. One for the ages.
I hope he goes after an Indy 500 win. That would earn some credit with AJ!
