I need your help. I am trying to put together a tentative list of drivers that plan to race at the 2011 VRP Turkey Classic next Saturday, November 26th. This is a one-day show for the Sprint cars, with no pre-entry requirements. The show is open to ALL Sprint Cars...the only two rules are (1) No Wings and (2) Safety Equipment is Mandatory!

Come on out, have some fun, do some pre-season testing, and take home some cash!!!

Bonus of $200 for the top-finishing 360 driver!

The purse structure is listed on the website at www.VictorvilleRacewayPark.com. However, if we get a field of 20 or more cars, Steve is going to pay a higher purse with $2,000.00 to win!!! I really hope we can achieve this, to give the supportive, local Traditioanl Sprint Car Fans something to talk about all Winter Break!!!

If you plan to race, please reply to this post, email me, personal message me, or send me a note on Facebook.

Thank you in advance!

Doug Bushey

PS...Who, besides me, would love to see The Ripper put in a 3rd John Jory Corp. entry (like...ummm...say the Black Deuce) and race with sons Cody and Logan while Austin heals up?! How about the Alexander Silver Bullet with "Sick" Nic Faas?! What about our 2011 USAC-CRA Champion Mike Spencer (maybe Mark will let him play in the beautiful Priestley #7)?! Just a few on my "Wish List"...that would make my Christmas for sure! Nothing else is running 'til 2012...let's end 2011 with a Party in the High Dessert!!!

Doug,

I posted the info on abcmotorsports.com for the AZ drivers/owners. Any chance of finding out if tow money would possibly be paid for these guys and let everyone know if they are bringing a motor or toterhome if they would be allowed to camp out at the track?

Your Christmas list sounds a lot like mine. Except mine would be that my hubby would find a car to drive in.

Thanks Doug.

RIP Chet and Mark. You might be gone but never will
be forgotten.

Great questions everyone...I don't have all the answers, but I'm working on getting as much information as I can for you. You can always send a personal message to Steve on here, or on Facebook if you have more specific questions. You can also send an email to [email protected].

Harry...Although I have not heard directly from the Fairgrounds, I was told that camping will be available both "dry" in the pits (possibly around $10 a night) and with hook-ups in the campgrounds.

June...I don't get involved with the money issues. However, with the amount of Central Valley Late Models, Modifieds, and Stock Cars that we're hoping are headed our way that weekend, I doubt VRP could afford to pay everyone's tow and still offer a decent purse for each division.

Remember...this is a CASH-PAYING event! Bring a little cash, throw it in the mix with the Promoter's cash, and take home the Jackpot! Consolation prize...a party with friends in the dessert!

Doug, please clarify for us. I looked at the website & it calls for an $85.00 car entry fee. You state that there's no pre-entry, but are we going to be hit with this $85.00 entry fee in addition to all the pit passes when we drive up, or is that entry only for the Main Classic Cars? Please let us know. Thanks.

Doug, That means it's going to cost me $145.00 just to get my car, wife, & myself into the track, gambling that ~24 other car owners will pay an $85.00 entry fee for a non-guaranteed purse,( because "Full Field" to the Promoter means a car count that survives all the pre-qualifying show to make it to the Main Event with all four Wheels and Motor), . Looking back at all the previous incidents that have occurred with this promoter, I can't afford that. When I spoke to you last week at Hanford, I wasn't aware that he is charging an extra $85.00 to finance his Races. He's proven again that he doesn't understand all of the EFFORTS involved, and $$ involved in getting a Sprint Car to the track, with crew, and racing that car. I would love to support this local track, but I don't have that kind of budget. Good luck.

Wow. I didn't know it would be that much to race a car there either. $115 for just car entry and owner, plus other pit passes for other crews or for crew members that pay their own way. That's a lot of money to ask for an end of season race when so many have used up most if not all of their sponsor money. Isn't there any way to make it that if you pay the entry fee, the driver or car owner get in for that price? I know I'm not the one crunching numbers but I would think that if the fee and pit pass were lowered a bit there might be a few more cars willing to drive up and race. Granted you do get paid in cash after the race, but what if there isn't a full field? Then the guys who raced and spent the money don't get as much as they thought they were racing for. This is just a thought trying to make it affordable not only for the fans but for the racers as well.

Cal, if I had the extra $$$ you would be racing. I just didn't win the lotto this week or get the items of my Mom's sold that are up for sale. I'm so sorry. I hope to run into you and Debbie there in the stands if you can't race.

I was told that IF it wasn't a full field then the BIG purse was going to the normal scaled purse based on car count. I have a Mini Stock I was going to take but for a 2 day deal for me and the driver to enter + car entry that = $ 205.00. I don't understand why the extra 85.00. So if nothing goes wrong I get to spend 400+ for a chance to win 105.00 for the win????? THIS IS FOR MINI STOCKS. I am not trying to create drama but I thought the 85.00 was going towards a guaranteed purse not a regular what if deal.

I think that about 3 to 4 years ago there was also a car fee and alot of cars showed up

it was a 2 day race for all divisions even the next year it was the same . This year

we wont be able to go as we are trying to get 2 motors together by next year so

there goes are money.

Let's see.... $85 per entry times 20 cars equals $1700.

Four Individuals (Owner, driver, pit crew, wife/girlfriend) at $30 each times 20 cars equals $2400.

Wow the people in the pits just contributed $4100 to the purse.

Wow..i hate to do the math...ruins the fun...yes Harry ,cost racers to run-no different at the other tracks.......you really want the scarey part...talley up the purses+rack rental+crew+ambulance+lights and all the cost i don't even know[ ads, ect] those are the bills the promotor is looking at come monday morning...it's a balancing act and let's hope everyone has a great time.......no spec tire-no radio to rent-no transponder to rent-and $30 pit pass is still cheaper than the other tracks have charged in about 10 years

As of today, Tuesday November 22, the following is a list of drivers that have either sent me a personal message or have recently expressed to me their interest in competing in this Saturday's Turkey Classic" Open Sprint Car Show at VRP:

DRIVER NAME - CAR OWNER - CAR NUMBER

Hobie Conway – Kruseman - 29k

Jeremy Ellertson – Ellertson – 98

Chris Ennis - Ennis - 86

Steve Hix – Kruseman – 57k

Jon Kairot – Perkins - 0

Shawn Kautz – Kautz - 27

Johnny McCall – Morbitzer – 44j

Kenny Perkins – Perkins – 0k

Taylor Price – Kruseman - ?

Ed Schwarz – Schwarz – u47

Keioni Texiera – Kruseman - ?

Cody Williams – Jory 44

Logan Williams – Jory - 3

The following are hopefuls that have competed at VRP in the last couple of years, but that I have NOT had the chance to ask or get a reply from yet:

John Aden – Aden – 7a

Bill Badger – Badger – 75x

David Bezio – Bezio – 37d

David Cardey - Cardey - 59

Ronnie Case – Case - 8

Victor Davis - Douglass - 31

Shon Deskins – Deskins – 20

Bruce Douglass - Douglass - 31

Luis Espinoza – Espinoza - 09

Tony Everhart – Everhart - 55

Billy Felts Jr. – Felts - 31

Adam Frith-Smith – Frith-Smith - 62

Chris Meredith – Meredith - 66

Raymond Potter – Potter – 33x

Dan Tedrick – Tedrick – 88

Heidi Tresler – Tresler – 3

Rip Williams – Jory - 2

Seth Wilson – Stansberry - 75

If we can get just one-half of the second list above to show up, we're racing for $2,000 CASH!!!

In addition to the names above, I have a HUGE list of drivers that have replied with "I would love to, but we're re-building for next year". It seems attrition was the theme towards the end of the regular 2011 season! Many, many hurt motors & chassis after the Oval Nationals, Kings Finale, and the Western World. I also have 2 or 3 (that I won't call out on here per their request) that are still on the fence and have not decided.

That's all the information I have at the moment. I'm excited. Except for the Arizona race and the Walt James vintage race, we don't have ANY competing events. I would hope that we get a bunch of cars we haven't seen much of (or ever) at VRP, and maybe a few that just want to show up and test for 2012...and maybe one hot shoe from up North that wants to shed the barn door...who knows...

Again, if you have any information, or can correct any of the above, please reply or contact me.

Thanks!
