Just got a call that Duttons Speedway in Fort Cobb will be torn down.
I haven't heard this officially. But the person I talked to called Orval and he confirmed it.
Details about a past pro baseball player nearby not being happy about the noise and I guess he has been making offers to buy the land for some time and ownership finally sold?
Thats how it was explained to me just a few minutes ago. I don't know any of this to a certainty, but my friends heard it and called Orval and he confirmed it. So I guess....it is what it is. If something about this is not correct, that would be extremely welcome news. Hate to see another track go.

A post pro baseball player in Fort Cobb? What are the chances of that?
Right on another track being torn down. NOT a good deal.

The best catcher in history, Johnny Bench when to H.S. In Binger. Oklahoma has had 100's of pro baseball players call this home.

Yes I know Bench is from Binger but how close is that to Fort Cobb? And yes I realize how many Pro Baseball players (past and present) are from the state of Oklahoma. Just didn't know Bench still calls Binger "home."

7 miles or so. If you have ever been to Dutton Speedway...you go through down town Binger. You just acted surprised a former ball player would live there, that's all.
I believe he lives in the Witchita, Ks area, but he may have property in the Binger area.

Didn't realize Binger was so close. Was actually there once in the late 1980's (think it was) and thought I went through the Chickasaw route?
Either or, just a shame another race track has closed its doors...

The player's name is Reggie Willits, plays or played for the Angels. Went to OU and yes, Fort Cobb High.
