You know I read on here a lot, visit tracks from PA to Nebraska, been around racing for as long as I can remember. And being to the National Open a few times. Knoxville for the big one. And being fans of the ASCS drivers and tour, along with the Posse and the cars involved with the URC, I got to the thinking. How is it the ASCS national tour not made a stop in PA yet. or a promoter in PA not tried to do a 358 vs. ASCS show anywhere up in this region. ASCS travels all over the midwest, the south, and have the west coast swing, but never came touring up in the Mid Atlantic/Northeast. I know ASCS had a regional tour up here a year or 2 ago but that faded. Just a little thought as the season settles down into the winter. I know I'd enjoy it. What are your thoughts?

It'd be interesting, but how many URC and/or Patriot Sprints would actually show?

You might get the 5G and 99 from the URC, and Justin Barger from the Patriots, and I'm not sure anyone else would run with them (maybe Cannon, Heimbach, and Mark Smith).

ASCS signed a ten year deal with SSP a few years ago...they ran about 4 races and pulled the plug...there is no word if the deal was ended or sipmply put on hold until further notice.

a quick search returned this story promoting an event:

please remember that PA is the home of the penalty box heat race starts for racers who cross picket lines...

There's a general thought from the professional drivers in PA (and I don't think this is wrong) that if ASCS 360s were allowed to come in and gain footing in PA, with their $6k to win National purses and such, racers would be running for lower purses eventually.

The big Outlaw purses are $12k, $20k and $50k to win (in addtion, PA has a few more $10k+ events on their circuit). So there's been a backlash from Rahmer and the like against 360s in PA.

Bingo! I think you hit the nail on the head. You would have a few 410 drivers put in 360's like they currently do for the bigger paying 358/360 challenge races, but by and large, most of the bigger name drivers would sit the race out. Therefore, the Central Pa promoters are reluctant to book a National ASCS race for fear that the fans would not support it without all the top Posse drivers running. Unfortunately, the 358/360's are viewed as only as a support division in Posse land.

ASCS did do something of a Northeast tour several years ago. IIRC, they had a couple shows at Black Rock (N.Y.) and a Sunday night ASCS National Tour show at Susquehanna. From what I remember, the ASCS show at Susky was an epic flop. Big Diamond ran a 410 show against it, so none of the big name PA drivers went to Susky. As mentioned earlier in the thread, Rahmer has been one of the vocal voices (and correctly so, IMO) that if the big name 410 drivers show promoters that they are willing to run 360 shows for half the purse of a 410, it won't be long until the 410s are racing for half their current purse as well.

As pointed out in this thread, 358s/360s are generally viewed as a lesser division/support division to 410s in PA.

black rock was so dusty you could only see the cars in the middle of the straightaway. Patriots are no longer ascs sanctioned.
