| Allard Eyes Fall Nationals In Memory of Fallen Friend |
PETERSEN MEDIA- With the California racing season rapidly coming to a
close, all eyes will be on the Silver Dollar Speedway for this weekends
running of the Fall Nationals, and Chico’s own, Jonathan Allard, will
look to pick up another win at the prestigious event.
After taking a few weeks off following the Gold Cup Race of
Champions, Allard and his Williams Motorsports team come into this event
refreshed, and poised to return to their winning ways at the tacky
northern California bull-ring.
JA, like many other competitors and fans, come into this event with
heavy hearts. Early last week the racing community was devistasted to
learn about the loss of Sprint Car super fan, “Carwash”, Mike Avilla.
Carwash
and JA shared a special friendship, and Avilla even had the patented
Williams No.0 tattooed on his leg. Though Avilla always made it known
all drivers were his favorite, Allard was high on his list.
“We are definitely going to give it our all to pick up a win this
weekend for Carwash,” explained JA. “It hurts to lose anyone, especially
someone like Mike who could pick you up on your worst day.”
JA has requested to turn a memorial lap in Avilla’s honor, and all
fans are encouraged to attend this event that has been dedicated to the
honor of Mike Avilla.
“It’s pretty cool that some of his friends have put together a hard
luck award bonus, I love the guy, I’m just really hoping I don’t win
that prize,” said Allard with a smile.
ON TAP: JA will return to action Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway to compete in the Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals.
