CRA SPRINTS AT VENTURA RACEWAY SATURDAY; MILLER, KRUSEMAN TAKE PERRIS, TULARE FEATURES
Tony Jones of Norco, Calif. leads the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series to Ventura (Calif.) Raceway Saturday night for the first of three scheduled 2007 CRA appearances at the track.
Cory Kruseman (twice) and Mike Spencer were the 2006 USAC/CRA winners at Ventura. Spencer ranks second to Jones in the latest series standings.
Kruseman, who calls Ventura home, won Sunday night’s 30-lap feature at the Tulare (CA) Thunderbowl Raceway, leading the final 18 laps in his Agromin Soil/Sander Engineering Bullet/Mopar. Jones led the first 12 laps but faded to sixth at the checkered flag. Rickie Gaunt, Danny Sheridan, Rodney Argo and Blake Miller rounded out the “top-five.”
Miller, of Yorba Linda, Calif., scored his first-ever USAC/CRA feature win Saturday night at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway in his Black Widow Racing/Gardner Pipe & Mechanical Sled/Shaver. Following his 40-lap “Salute to Indy” victory he accepted the winner’s wreath and drank milk in victory lane. David Cardey, Gaunt, Sheridan and Jones completed the “top-five.” Josh Ford and Sheridan led feature laps but Miller finally dispatched Sheridan on lap 29 and led the final 12 laps.

PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY...
18700 Lake Perris Drive...Perris, CA 92571...(951) 940-0134...www.perrisautospeedway.com
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KIDS IN FREE AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY IN JUNE!
(MAY 29, 2007, PERRIS, CA) Perris Auto Speedway will begin its Annual Kid's month this Saturday night, June 2nd. All kids 12 and under will be admitted free when they are accompanied by an adult the next five weeks. Supplying the action for the younger set this Saturday will be the popular Art's Concrete Pumping Extreme Late Models, PASSCAR Modfieds, Street Stocks and the California Lightning Sprint Cars. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:30.
June has been deemed "Kid's Month" at The PAS since 2001. "We started Kid's Month as a reward to our fans," stated promoter Don Kazarian. "It saves them some money and it is a way of saying thanks to them for supporting our shows. It also exposes younger fans to our sport."
As has been the case in the past, this year's "Kid's Month" is not just a family thing. "As long as the kids are accompanied by an adult, they all get in free. Fans can load up the car, van or rent a bus and bring the entire neighborhood and they will get in free," Kazarian said. "The kids love the shows and we enjoy hosting the kids. The more the merrier."
In addition to this Saturday, the other four Kid's Month races will be:
June 9th – Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars presented by Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply
June 16th – Art's Concrete Pumping Extreme Late Models, PASSCAR Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pick-A-Part Cruisers
June 23 - Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars presented by Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply
June 30th – MC Builders Super Stocks, Street Stocks, PASSCAR Modifieds and California Lightning Sprint Cars
This Saturday, Torrance, California 41 year-old driver Mike Kirby will be out to extend his winning streak to six straight races at The PAS including the last three in the Late Models. In only his third outing in his new Late Model last Saturday night, Kirby made the A main event in the tough Western All Star Series at Bakersfield.
Corona, California's Johnny Lathrop, whose racing resume includes championships at the long defunct Corona Raceway, will be looking for his second straight win the PASSCAR Modified class. Lathrop actually crossed the line second in the main event two weeks ago, but was awarded the win when another driver in the field protested the winning car, which was found to be illegal.
The California Lightning Sprint Cars, headed by point leader David Bezio will return for their third 2007 appearance on Saturday and the popular Street Stocks, the track's biggest class, will close out Saturday's program.
Saturday's Kid's Month opener will feature high-octane action including qualifying for the Late Models and heats and main events for all classes in attendance.
In addition to Saturday's race on the half-mile clay oval, there will be drag racing on Friday at the popular Street Legal Strip at The PAS where you can race your own car for just $30.00. Gates at the will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:00 at the Drag Strip.

For Immediate Release
From: Ventura Raceway
Contact: Cliff Morgan Director of Competition
(Oxnard, CA. 5/29/07) This Saturday night June 2, at 5:30pm, marks the return of a very special event at Ventura Raceway's Ventura County Fairgrounds racing facility, when the USAC/CRA 410 Sprint Cars invade the 1/5 mile Ventura oval. This series is led by Ventura favorites Cory Kruseman, Blake Miller, Troy Rutherford, Josh Ford, USAC/CRA point's leader Tony Jones, Danny Sheridan, Rip Williams and a host of other top drivers this series will thrill fans with their high speed excitement. These are the fastest cars that race here at Ventura, hitting speeds in excess of 80mph on the straits. They always put on a show that leaves fans talking at the end of the night. It will be interesting to see which of Ventura's own VRA Stars take up the 410 Challenge this weekend. Greg Taylor, Kevin Kierce, Ron Bach, Eric Severson and others have come out to challenge these racers in the past. Will they do it this weekend? Only time will tell. Last weekend these 410 warriors raced at Perris Auto Speedway and then moved to Tulare for a rare Sunday night event. On Saturday night, 2005 VRA 360 Series Champion Blake Miller took his first USAC/CRA victory and then on Sunday night Ventura Favorite and two time VRA 360 winner in 2007 Cory Kruseman took the win.
Along with the USAC/CRA Sprints, Ventura Raceway's VRA Senior Sprints are back Saturday with another event in their 2007 season. So far Wiley Miller has the series point's lead over a fine field of 360 sprint car drivers. He leads in the season points standings by 15 points over Bob Alderman, 50 points over Steve Stasa and 65 points over Bruce Douglass. Ron Bach won last weekend's senior race and will be going for two in a row this Saturday night. This class races the same cars as the regular VRA 360 racers, the only difference is the age of the competitors, who must be 45 years of age or older.
Pit gates open at 12 noon, with front gates opening at 3:30pm. Admission for this event is $18.00 for adults, $15 for Seniors, Military and Students with photo id, $7.00 for kids 7-12 and kids 6 and under are free. For more information, please call Ventura Raceway at (805) 985-5433 Monday through Friday from 8am to 6pm.

Marysville Raceway Park Press Release 5.28.07 Bob Burbach KKCY "Country 103 Cup" jump-starts big June at MRP Mel Hall Memorial Race this Saturday Marysville CA. Promoter Paul Hawes announced that local country radio station KKCY has come on board and created the Country 103 Cup for the MRP Stock Cars and the MRP Mini Stocks. The sponsorship will kick off with the annual Mel Hall Memorial Race being staged this Saturday. The month will go out like a lion, as the Merritt Brothers Racing Team will again showcase KIDZ NITE on June 30. The Country 103 Cup will be the new name associated with MRP’s two fendered point divisions. The sponsorship will include the entire balance of the 2007 season. In addition to promoting the races, results and commentary will be heard on the Yuba City based station. The ball seems to be rolling at MRP as more and more significant sponsors are taking a good look at the benefits of being involved with Yuba Sutter’s only professional sports program. Watch this page for more specifics regarding Country 103 Cup promotions. This Saturday night the annual Mel Hall Memorial Race will be presented. All four of the primary divisions will be offered. The winged Pacific Sprint Cars will headline the show. The BCRA Midget Lites will also be at the Mel Hall Memorial Race. More than 100 cars are expected for this annual renewal of one of MRP’s premiere racing events. This year promoter Paul Hawes will present the long awaited plaque commemorating Hall’s efforts in local racing promotions to Marlyn Hall. Marlyn and son Mark carried on after Mel’s untimely passing through the 2002 season promoting events here. Mark Hall is a 2 time Champion in the Pacific Sprint Car class at MRP. He also wore the title three times at Grass Valley’s Ernie Purssell Speedway. Mark Hall is expected to compete in Saturday’s race. DATELINE MAY 30 HANFORD, CA
SCRA BACK TO WORK By Dan Fleisher
After three weeks of “down time,” the Sprint Car Racing Association returns to action this Saturday at Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA. The 360 c.i. wingless sprinters make their fifth appearance (of 13) at the popular 3/8’s-mile clay facility. Although the series has been on hiatus since May 12, point leaders Davey Pombo and Peter Murphy have been hard at work, continuing their rivalry. The pair sauntered over to the coast last Saturday for a visit to Santa Maria Speedway, where they ran one-two for the fourth time this season. After exchanging the lead several times, Pombo took the checkers on this occasion. Desirous of keep their skills honed, the pair ran the following night with at Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway where Pombo captured his heat and Murphy finished 10th in the feature against the potent USAC/CRA 410 c.i. contingent. Although SCRA’s series has been dominated by this pair, the competition will be keen with regulars Rusty Carlile, winner of three of the last four Trophy Dashes, Richard Harvey Jr., who’s returning to form after a slow start, last year’s champion Jonathan Logan, and Andy Ferris, making his initial start of the season, all eager to upset the dynamic duo. Ferris finished fourth in points last year and was the Passing Masters Dash Champion. Another competitor “hot on the trail” of the Pombo/Murphy combine is Kiwi Alexander, who is primed for his initial feature win after several strong showings in recent events. Also returning to the series is teenager Michael Faccinto, who takes time from his USAC Midget ride to battle his peers, 17-year-olds Justyne Hamblin, Myles Bishop, Jace VanderWeerd and John Niggli. Niggli is coming off several fine feature finishes, including one sixth-place and two eighth-place recordings in the last three outings. Other veterans expected to appear include Brian Schuler, with a rebuilt engine, Matt Day, Kevin Barnes, Jeff Gardner, Garrett Ishii, who sheds his Golden State Challenge Series wing, John Iturriria and Ron Tjaarda. SCRA returns to Kings on June 23rd.

Press Release, Golden State Challenge Series
For Immediate Release Golden State Challenge Series set for bullring mania in Watsonville & Placerville
By: Gary Thomas
May 30, 2007... After running a pair of races at the longest track on tour last weekend, the Golden State Challenge King of California Series will now head for a double header weekend at the two smallest tracks on the schedule. The weekend will begin on Friday with the second season stop for the series to John Prentice’s Ocean Speedway located on the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Watsonville. Following Friday’s event drivers and teams will make the haul over to Placerville Speedway for the final stop of the season to the high banked red clay bullring. Last year’s Ocean/Placerville double header was swept by youngster Robert Ballou of Rocklin.
Continuing to lead the Golden State Challenge Series point standings is 12-time King of California Brent Kaeding of Campbell. The driver of the Al’s Roofing Supply No. 69 brings a five point lead into the weekend. Kaeding has won five races this season and is coming off a second place finish last Sunday night at Calistoga’s Speedway’s Tribute to Gary Patterson. BK has been impressive this season and leads the series with 11 top five finishes in 14 starts. The all-time leading winner in GSC history was leading Saturday’s Salute to Walter T Ross when he suffered a broken rear end early in the going. It was just the second time all year that he had failed to finish an A-main event.
Oroville’s Sean Becker is coming off his best career Calistoga Speedway finish of third last Sunday and sits second in points coming into the weekend, just five behind Kaeding. Becker won his second GSC race of the season last Friday in Petaluma and will look to chop into Kaeding’s lead as he pilots the potent Fisher/Main Motorsports entry. "The Shark" leads all drivers with 13 top 10 finishes in 14 races. He finished outside the top 10 for the first time this season on Saturday when he ran out of fuel with less than two laps remaining, while running a strong second. When the series competed at Ocean on May 5, Becker scored the first clean sweep in GSC competition since 2002.
Defending King of California Jonathan Allard goes into this weekend with momentum fresh off his first career Calistoga Speedway victory, which he accomplished at last Sunday’s Tribute to Gary Patterson. It was also the first time that Allard and his Williams Motorsports team had visited victory lane with the Golden State Challenge Series since opening night in March. Allard momentarily lost third place in the GSC standings following Petaluma last Friday, but gained it back with the win on Sunday. JA has come back strong with three straight top five finishes following the Chris Faria Memorial in Tulare where he dropped out of the race with motor issues while he was battling Brent Kaeding for the lead.
Sacramento’s Willie Croft comes into this weekend sitting fourth in points, just five behind Allard for third. Croft had moved into third place in points after a third place finish in Petaluma on Friday and a second place finish in Calistoga on Saturday, but a 10th place finish on Sunday, coupled with Allard’s win, has put the driver of the D & D Roofing No. 29 back to fourth in points heading into Ocean. Croft’s second place finish on Saturday in Calistoga came during his first ever 410 start at the ultra fast ½ mile. The driver known as "Double Down" finished sixth during his first ever Ocean Speedway start on May 5.
"The Big Guy" Jason Statler earned his first win of the season last Saturday and comes into this weekend rounding out the top five in the Golden State Challenge Series point standings. Statler had his best action of the year this past weekend as he drove the Tom Rolfe Trucking No. 10 to three consecutive top five finishes.
Rounding out the top 10 in GSC points heading into this weekend’s double header is Ronnie Day from Salinas, Brett Miller from Chico, Jon Maiwald from Gilroy, Bud Kaeding from Campbell and Jason Botsford from Tracy.
Golden State Challenge regular Jim Skinner from Discovery Bay sits 11th in points but blew his engine Saturday night in Calistoga and didn’t compete on Sunday. Skinner isn’t expected to be back in action until Petaluma next Saturday or Medford on the following Monday. The former NARC Rookie of the Year drove his WB Equipment No. 73 to a ninth place finish last Friday in Petaluma before the engine gremlins hit on Saturday.
GSC rookie driver Evan Suggs will be back in action starting Friday at Ocean Speedway. The Suggs Racing team will be debuting a new Maxim Chassis at Ocean Speedway and will be running every race with GSC the rest of the Summer. The 20 year-old former non-wing racer scored his second career top 10 with GSC this past Friday in Petaluma as he drove to an eighth place finish.
Making his first start of the season this Friday will be Santa Cruz driver Kevin Pylant. The former stock car champ at Ocean Speedway will be aboard the Sperry Racing No. 51 as he competes in a sprint car for the first time since last year’s GSC finale in July. The fan favorite will be a welcomed addition to the roster on Friday.
The front gate opens at 4:30 pm on Friday at Ocean Speedway. Adult tickets will be $20 with children $10. The pits will open up at 2 pm. The Ocean Speedway is located at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Watsonville. For more info call 831-476-9466 or log onto http://www.oceanspeedway.comThe front gate on Saturday at Placerville Speedway will open at 5 pm with adult tickets costing $16, juniors/seniors $11 and children $4. The Placerville Speedway is located at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville. For more info visit http://www.johnpadjenmotorsports.comFollowing this weekend the Golden State Challenge Series will head for a one night stand in Petaluma next Saturday. After that it will be time to head North as the series competes at Medford’s Southern Oregon Speedway on Monday June 11. Many of the GSC teams will then continue driving North on I-5 to compete on Thursday, Friday & Saturday in the 36th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway presented by Foley’s RV & Camping World.
Don’t forget about the Dirt Cup Party on Wednesday night June 13 in the parking lot at Haggen Food & Pharmacy in Burlington, WA. This party is held the evening before opening day of Dirt Cup and is a great way to promote not only the event, but your team as well. Skagit Speedway will haul your cars to the party but they need to know you are coming. Skagit Speedway’s number is: 360-724-3567. The track will be hauling the cars to the party so you won’t lose your place at the track. Last year there was only one California car at the party so please support the event so we can have as many Cali cars as possible. There will be live radio stations on hand for interviews as well as a live band. This is a great chance to sell shirts and merchandise prior to the weekend.
