KRUSEMAN TAMES THUNDERBOWL By Robert Mayson
Tulare, CA…..Defending Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Champion Cory Kruseman of Ventura, Calif., drove his Agromin Soil No. 21K Bullet to his second series win of the season Sunday night at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif.
Even though it was the inaugural USAC/CRA event, Kruseman’s 30-lap win was the fourth 410 c.i. win of his career at the Thunderbowl.
Torrance, California’s Rickie Gaunt entered the event tied with Kruseman for the most Thunderbowl wins, but his Nadine Gardner / Gardner Pipe & Mechanical No. 94 Chalk would have to settle for a runner-up finish on this night.
Santa Maria, California’s Danny Sheridan flipped his Kittle Plumbing / PJ1 #18 Stinger in his heat race, but returned to win the Semi and finish third in the main event.
Rodney Argo, Long Beach, Calif., posted his best finish of the season when he drove his Don Argo / Decore Plating No. 19 Stinger to a fourth-place finish.
Fresh off his first career USAC/CRA win last night at the Perris Auto Speedway (Perris, Calif.), Blake Miller, Yorba Linda, Calif., earned his first Fast Time Award of the year before driving Jeff Gardner’s Roy Miller Freightlines No. 93 Sled to a fifth-place finish.
Current series point leader Tony Jones of Norco, Calif., lead the first 12 laps of the race until contact with the turn-two wall gave the lead to Kruseman and forced Jones to nurse his Alexander Trucking / La Villa Restaurant #4 DRC to a sixth-place finish.
