There Will Be No Peace In The Valley As OCRS Sprint Cars Thunder Into Caney Valley Saturday!

Tulsa Oklahoma (August 8, 2011) – At the bordering states of Kansas and Oklahoma sits the small town of Caney Kansas. Caney is a simple and quiet kind of town. There you will find locals sitting around the local café addressing their local issues and other matters that they deem of interest as coffee continues to flow in seemingly bottomless coffee cups. This week’s topic for the Valley’s residents is what will be taking place at Caney Valley Speedway this Saturday night.

The speedway will be hosting “Thunder In The Valley” featuring the always entertaining sprint cars of the Oil Capital Racing Series. The OCRS event at CVS will be the first time OCRS has graced CVS soil since Broken Arrow’s Jonathan Beason took the honors in 2009. Over the off-season, track promoter Kerry Gorby had the track widened from 45’ to over 60’ and has added more banking in the turns on the ¼ mile bullring. This new configuration will level the playing field for those teams that haven’t competed at Caney Valley previously as their peers will see a change since their last visit to CVS.

OCRS action thus far has produced an extremely tight battle for the 2011 championship that just keeps staying close with Sean McClelland clinging to a seven point lead over Whit Gastineau (1058 – 1051). These two look to take the championship battle to the wire to claim the lions share of the $25,000 point fund provided by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.

Three events this season has seen the leader on the last lap fail to take the checkers first. In order they are:

June 3rd / Outlaw Motor Speedway: Sean McClelland takes the win when Mike Goodman blows a water hose in turn two while leading.

July 9th / Oklahoma Sports Park: Whit Gastineau gets a break when leader Gary Owens slips off turn four with the checkered flag in sight when he hits water laid down just seconds earlier by another car.

August 5th / Outlaw Motor Speedway: Jamie Passmore collects his first win of 2011 when Sean McClelland blows a tire in turn four with the finish line just yards away.

It all goes to show that when the OCRS sprints come to town, there are no assurances as to how things will unfold. This Saturday’s “Thunder In The Valley” event could possibly produce additional drama for the men and women who bravely power their machines at speed. CVS support classes for “Thunder In The Valley” that are scheduled to compete include: Turf division, Pure Stocks and B-Mods. Contact CVS for any additional information regarding this special program.
