$3,000 To Win McDonald’s Shootout
Opens Ore-Cal Challenge August 12th
By Ben Deatherage
Cottage Grove, Oregon- The
Interstate Sprint Car Series already has hosted five races this season with all
but one taking place at the Cottage Grove Speedway in their inaugural
season. The next three upcoming races will mark another benchmark to the
already successful season hosting three races at three different tracks for the
inaugural Ore-Cal Challenge. Going to the state of California for the
first time ever the series will visit the Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, CA
for the McDonald’s Shootout for the first of three races of the mini-series.
The McDonald’s Shootout will be the
first Sprint Car race at the lightning fast high-banked 1/3 mile clay oval
since September 2009. The winner of the event will earn a healthy $3,000
while all drivers starting the main event will earn at least $250.
“It is a real treat that this series
in its first year is able to visit a place like Yreka,” commented Series
Director Brian Crockett, “The fans, officials, and teams will all enjoy this
place and should attract a huge crowd as well as a healthy car count.”
The crowd should be extremely
healthy as the annual Siskiyou Golden Fair will be taking place
simultaneously. The race hopefully will attract some new fans as well as
some more potential dates for the Interstate Sprint Car Series in 2012.
Expect to see the stars of the
Interstate Sprint Car Series taking on regulars of the Southern Oregon Speedway
as well as some Northern California regulars. Kyle Larson is looking to
make the trip coming off a USAC National Midget victory at Missouri’s US 36
Raceway as well as last month’s Speedweek Northwest title. Not making the
trip is the driver that won the last event at the Siskiyou Motor Speedway and
current ISCS point leader Roger Crockett as he is on hand for the Knoxville Nationals
at the Knoxville in Iowa.
Reserved seat tickets are $15 while
general admission is $12.Only one class
will be in action and events are scheduled to start with qualifying at 6:30 PM and
racing around 7 PM.We hope to see you
there as this new series is attracting a strong following. The series heads Saturday night to the
Southern Oregon Speedway in White City and the Cottage Grove Speedway on
Sunday.
The Interstate Sprint Car Series is a brand new winged 360 sprint car series
primarily based out of Oregon but will sanction and host races in Montana and
California. The series is slated at ten total point events reaching as
far north as the Cottage Grove Speedway and as far south as the Siskiyou Motor
Speedway in Yreka, California. The series currently has a current sum
total of $9,000, but growing, end of the year points fund that will be awarded
at the end of the season. For any teams or drivers wishing to learn more
