The promoters throughout this region of the country have just signed a massive sponsorship deal with No-Doz that will allow fans to receive free product upon entry to the stands. By providing this service, those who pay at the gate will actually be able to remain awake for the A feature and the drive home!

We know the #32 was driven by Kenny Sweet, and that other Lawton legend Jr. Bruner and that alias Enid driver Roger Bond. Then there was a Dallas driver Mitchel Adams that drove before any of these drivers mentioned. This car still lives and is being restored.

I believe Terry Linville drove the 32 at SFS back in the late 60's.

Kenny had mentioned before that his father raced supers in Southeastern Kansas back in the day and I think Dewey as well...

Terry drove that Vicky body type super #32 that were popular in the late 60's and then were used in the 70's also as modifieds.

That's a super that my dad drove primarily in Wichita and Caney, but also at Hutch, Enid, Dewey and a few other places. It was owned by a doctor in Winfield, Kan., Bruce Wells, who also drove it occassionally. The car was prevously owned and driven by Charlie Turner, from Arkansas City, Kan. Dad was a Kansas State Trooper and the KHP frowned on its troopers participating in anything as sordid as dirt track racing, so dad, who also taught pursuit driving for the KHP, always drove under an alias. As it was mentioned here, the most common name he used was Roger Bond, but he also appeared as LeRoy Leep (Harold's long-lost cousin, I guess) and Harold Herrick. Dad's real name is Larry, and he still resides in Winfield. He treasures the times when he raced against Harold Leep, Dale Reed, Herb Copeland, Shane Carson, Jerry Stone, Mike Peters etc., although he would be the first to tell you that he usually only battled those guys when they were passing him. He counts his greatest moment as getting around Jan Opperman on the back stretch of the Hutch Nationals one year.

That is the coolest story ever told about the supermodified days. I new Roger Bond was an alias but now I know the rest of the story. Thought it was based on a military situation though. Your dad probably already knows the car is in restoration mode I think. I think it is the car that came from the Lawton area also??? Or it just has that look?

Not sure about that, Warren. Could be that Charlie Turner purchased it from the Lawton area. I'll check and see if that's the case. I've seen pictures of that Lawton car and you're right, if it's not the same car, they are spitting images of each other.

OK, I was all wet on some of my explanation, but got straightened out by the old man. The 32 car was purchased from a racer in Wichita named Ron Cuda, not the man I mentioned from Arkansas City, Kan. It was later sold and thought to be bound for Texas for restoration, but that was many years ago and no idea if it actually went there or if it was restored.
Prior to that car, my dad drove another red 32 that had been purchased from the Nance speed shop in Wichita. Upon purchase, it was black or navy blue and silver and carried number 61. It had been built and driven by Jessie Herrington from Bartlesville.

Did the car have a Edmonds body on it or a duck tail body. I have heard a story from a friend that is the same as you told, he bought the car. If that is the car it is restored and now resides in Texas. Thanks

By the time I saw the car, it did not have any sponsorship on it -- just the number, and it looked different than the one in this picture. I'll see if I can get a scan and post it -- it was pretty -- the sliver paint on it was metallic.
