Don't have many details yet, but a major fire broke out late this afternoon at Specialty Tire in Indiana, PA which is where Amereican Racer Tires are produced.

From the Indiana (PA) Gazette:

By The Indiana Gazette

A fire and explosion late Wednesday afternoon destroyed raw materials in a storage wing of the Specialty Tires of America factory in Indiana, and six people were hurt while trying to extinguish the flames, officials said. The fire hit at a time when the plant was idle for maintenance and only a fraction of the usual number of workers were in the building. Those hospitalized included an Indiana firefighter, who was transferred to a hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of burns on his face; an Indiana firefighter with an ankle injury; three company workers who had outpatient treatment for smoke inhalation; and a firefighter who fell to heat exhaustion. Indiana Fire Chief Charles R. Kelly said his crews responded at 5:04 p.m. and were followed by companies from 13 other communities in Indiana, Westmoreland and Cambria Counties. Firefighters took over for company employees who first tried to douse the flames. At one point, some of the supplies exploded as firefighters made their way into the building. Officials at the scene did not immediately determine the cause of the fire. A state police fire marshal was called to investigate. Specialty Tires President and CEO Don Mateer III said the damage was confined to the storage area, and that he expects the plant to return to full operation as scheduled Sunday night.
