Tight NCRA Modified Points Battle Continues at Hutch Nationals!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas - July 11, 2011 - Just like the summer month of July, the battle for the 2011 points championship on the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Smiley's Racing Products modified tour is heating up as only 35 point's separate the top three in the current series point standings. And what better way to add even more heat to the battle by continuing the chase during the 55th annual Hutchinson Grand Nationals, atop the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas this coming Saturday night.
On the strength of one victory out of the five events that have been held thus far this season, Bill Siemers of Mulvane, Kansas leads the series modified tour into the Mid-Summer classic by a mere five points over 2008 series champion Marc Hurd of Wichita, Kansas. Hurd picked up the victory in the last event that was held back over the Independence Day weekend at the Belleville High Banks in Belleville, Kansas for his first victory of the season.
Tyler Davis of Derby, Kansas is not quite out of the mix himself as he sits only thirty-five points out of the top spot.
With three events still left on the 2011 schedule as we go to print, Dan Powers of Wichita is a mere 55 points out of the lead while Mike Jarvis currently holds down the fifth position.
Hurd is the defending Hutch Nationals champion in the modified division and has won two out of the last three events that have been held on the historic fairgrounds half mile oval.
While there have been nine different feature winners in the fourteen National events that have been sanctioned by the NCRA, one driver who looks to finally notch that elusive victory is Halstead, Kansas veteran Brian Franz. The former four-time series champion, who leads the tour in career victories, would like nothing more than to obtain the huge trophy and notch his name on the grandstand wall of former winners of this prestigious event.
This huge one night event for the NCRA modified tour at the Hutchinson Grand Nationals on Saturday night will see the grandstand gates open at 5:30 PM with race time set for a 7:30 PM start time. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults and $5 for ages 6-10 years of age. The series' sprint car and southern sport modified divisions will also be competing in this huge one night event.
