My DVD/VCR combo was working well but when I was watching and scanning through the VHS tapes that Kip Hughes let me borrow, all the sudden the tapes were snowy but had sound. They work in my other VCR just fine. I went and played one of the other tapes that I had and they were even snowy as well.

Don't think I touched any control device to change settings, thoughts?

This combo works perfectly for me converting all my stuff so hope it isn't what you get with this sort of system.

David, sounds like you need to clean the head on the VCR combo. A Q-tip and rubiing alcohol works great if you can reach the head through the front cover. If not get a VCR cleaning kit, basically it's a VCR looking tape with a cotton ribbon that you plug in and let it do it's job.

If you have been converting older VCR tapes most likely they are full of dust that has transfered to the VCR head.
