The pit gate will open at 1:00 PM this Saturday. Due to the fireworks, the Fire Marshall will NOT allow any parking in the normal pit parking lot.

So does that mean all of us team members are going to get gouged for five bucks to park?

Yep, happened last year. Saw Ronnie G. going off on the parking guy, but still had to pay. wink

For just $5 you also get to walk twice as far and feel good that your rig won't be on the receiving end of a pyro mortar. wink

I agree that we need new younger crowds, but in reality most of the people that come for the fireworks will not come back to just watch the races at a later date. Most people never know when a race is even being held since there is hardly any advertisement in the local area's newspapers or radio stations, they can't come to the races if they don't know that one is even being held!! It seems that the only two races that draw a good local crowd is the fireworks race and the fair race, both of which do get some local advertisement. You can't expect to bring in new fans by word of mouth only.

Leftylen, If one of those pyro mortars hit my car it might actually make some improvements on my 72 AMC Pacer.(lol)

Only problem with paying said kids min. wage is that some of them pocket a little of that cash. I've gotten there early before a few times and just been chilling in my car and here comes the window knock and asking for $5 for parking and they won't give me a stub and drive away in the golf cart.

I've heard plenty of PAS advertising on 96.7 KCAL FM. As far as newspaper adv. goes how many people do you think still pay for one ? Newspaper adv. is only going to maybe attract the "Old" crowd that we know are already there. The "younger" crowd more than likely has hand held technology.

In the field next to the road that goes back to the pit shack,so instead of turning right on the road that goes between the motocross track and our normal pit parking area you'll go straight through a gate.Believe me the parking police will show you the way.

Also Race88, how can you say we're getting to watch the fireworks for free, when people are paying 40.00 to 50.00 dollars to get in the pits? Unless of course you were just being sarcastic.

Seen the same scenario more than once myself.

Same 'pit 'pass cost as usual....not more...the track works hard to finance the cost of the fireworks show...hopefully the fan base will grow..it's a little more inconvienent to help run a car that night...worth it if more people fill the stand i think..

I know the pit pass price is the same as always, but when you add in the 5.00bucks to park that's the numbers you get.

I've got a question for you all. Esp you Rob.

Has anyone invited a neighbor or friend to any races this year? Has anyone brought any newbies? Well, I couldn't get my friends to cancel their 4th of July trip, but I am bringing a new family plus some others to the 7/30 race. So...... here's a challenge to everyone reading this.....

I challenge everyone to bring at least 1 new family or a couple of friends that either haven't been to the sprint car races or haven't been in years. The car owners are doing their best to get out there for us, the drivers are putting on great shows, but what are we the fans doing? Granted, we are showing up, but I think in times like these, it's up to us, the fans to help keep our sport alive. I carry programs, have pics on my cell phone and have a couple of hero cards to show my different friends and family members trying to get them to the track. I'm looking for stickers, drivers names, and those types of things to put on my van to spread the word.

I don't want to lose the sport I've loved since I was a child. I brought new people to the track all of the time when I lived in AZ, so I figured, if I did it there, I can do it here.

BTW, everyone remembers to thank the car owners and drivers, but I think we, the fans, need to remember to thank the crew members who pay the $50 to go and work on the cars. A big thank you goes out to all of you.

Cya all tomorrow and remember to drink lots of water, and wear cool clothes, sunscreen and a hat. It's going to be a hot one, again, as usual. LOL

RIP Chet and Mark. You might be gone but never will
be forgotten.

I must have the newbie curse following me. Everytime I bring someone new to a sprint car race the track goes dusty and dry slick and they are like see this is why I like NASCAR......WTF ? ? I can't get a break when it comes to this.

Some of the best races I have seen at the PAS is when it slicks off. I'd be courious to know the dates of the races that dissapointed your new fans. I'll put up the highlights and we'll see how bad the race/track really was.

I know how you feel. Several years ago I brought a guy with his kids to Perris from Simi Valley. It was one of the dustiest shows I have ever been to anywhere. I think that the kids must have tried every type of food that was available at the concession stand that night. He was not interested in trying it again.
